The only communication you have is touch, and they are children and will act out as all kids do, they can't hear disaproval in your voice or see a look of anger in your face. The only way to teach them is with negative and positive touch, having to discipline with a slap on the hand was really tough, you just want to hug them, but if they want to get along in the world they have to learn right from wrong. My hat is off to people who can do this type of work, and anyone who has the patience and love to work with children. I wound up changing my university degree to Business.
I spent a year working with children that were both deaf and blind, it takes a very special kind of person to be able to do this, I guess I'm not one of those... it was incredibly difficult for me.
Hey Kansan, as I said yesterday, just glad that you are alright. I know it's a crap situation in the lovely land of lawsuits and liability... but there could well be a brighter side, sounds like you weren't happy with your company, and I'm sure you've paid enough into the system to get a little unemployment... take this time reassess your work life and look around... you mind find this little fender bender is the best thing that ever happened, it often takes something negative happening for us to make changes in our lives. Good Luck!
It's not something I could do... I have a problem with authority and I'm driven emotionally more then logically. If someone threatened me or mine I would have no problem pulling a trigger but would be unable to do so in a non emotional, cool and rational manner. I'm basically a non violent person until mother bear syndrome kicks in and then you don't want to be on the receiving end of that!!
But saying that... I know that there are a lot of women not wired the way I am, and if you look back in history women were some of the fiercest warriors and even led clans and armies into battle. If being a soldier is something they feel passionate about... they have every right to be one.
Well just happy that everyone is all right! I spent about 2 months in Bristol TN. met an amazing string instrumentalist that used to do session work with Micky Gilley and Charlie Daniels also met alot of other really wonderful people. Are you anywhere in that area?
A SPANISH Teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.
'House' for instance, is feminine: 'la casa.'
'Pencil,' however, is masculine: 'el lapiz.'
A student asked, 'What gender is 'computer'?'
Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether 'computer' should be a masculine or a feminine noun. Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.
The men's group decided that 'computer' should definitely be of the feminine gender ('la computadora'), because: 1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic; 2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else; 3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and 4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.
The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine ('el computador'), because: 1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on; 2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves; 3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and 4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.
