RE: Should there be a time limit , or limit ...

I wrote concerning this awhile back. The solutions, for me, vary...#1. When a thread becomes too “ polluted”, I’m out, see ya...#2. When a thread gets long- in- the- tooth ( blah blah blah rhetoric, usually about situations that can’t really be wrangled in this venue, AND superfluous block after block...because there’s a word limit per post—- I split, as well. So, sometimes it’s disappointing, or annoying when a good thread goes weird/ off- center/ maverick, but I recommend not fueling it. Just quit...go to other more pleasant threads. Works for me...handshake

RE: Is it nature taking it's course ?

Historically speaking (I mean with proof..) there has always been a “ thinning of the herd” whether disease, natural disaster, or other unpreventable circumstances, when numbers get too high for environments to support them.professor

“ what’s the difference between a gay cowboy and a straight cowboy”?

{ oh, .....about a six- pack...cheers }

RE: Why do women...

So, do you know the difference between a gay cowboy and a straight cowboy?

RE: Somebody is agree with it

1. Knowing is power. It “ ups” the game.
2. All, both men and women, clearly remember their first love.
3. All of us remember our first kiss.
4. Same as #3
5. Many men do this, as well.
6. It’s the same for both— jealousy knows not gender.
7. It does not always make either love “ more”.
Generalizing is not a current trend, nor is it in any way proactive.scold

RE: Free Range

Disclaimer: I am all about preventing animal cruelty, and that’s the mantra for “ free- range” proclamations. However, when you’re smelling that delicious aroma of roasted poultry, and cutting off a melt- in- your- mouth- watering tender fork full, I’m pretty sure that chicken is gone for, too...knowwhatimean, jelly- bean?

RE: Free Range

So, a few years ago I was visiting friends at their organic farm, ten miles from here. We were having a Bar B Q, and two party crashes wandered in. Seeing the roasting chickens on the grill, and trying to impress us, one of them asked, ..are those free range chickens, man?..My host s best friend replied, ..My aunt gave us the stove for a housewarming gift, and those ARE baking hens, so, I guess that makes it A FREE RANGE CHICKEN!

Yes, Ali, we have free range farms here..teddybear

RE: First movie I noticed someone for the first time and recognized they were a great actor.

Cher. She plays an attorney in “Suspect”. I was pleasantly surprised at her skill, and this was a time where “cross-over” was still difficult to get accepted.

RE: 11 Causes Of Rudeness

Hey cute stuff- yeah, that’s my jingle for itlaugh so, what do you like in your coffee? I had a Spanish coffee the other day. YUM.....

Resolutions/Affirmations

Somewhere I read or heard that it’s helpful to either say, or write, the things we want to improve on. And, since The New Year is generally a good time, or as good a time as any, I’ll start. Hopefully a few of my observations and experiences will help, but I certainly don’t want to impose that. So, mine are: to lose even more weight and increase exercise, be careful with finances, and to gain more skills and a pleasant outlook and demeanor with others. I already got started this morning on the finances part. I had set aside forty dollars for a new wallet. The one I have seemed OK, but the drivers license/medical cards section was dog eared and the documents fall out every time I open the wallet. So, I emptied the whole thing out, sorted what didn’t really need to be in it (a bunch of crap) and found the exact seams that were causing it to not “hold” the things in. I triple-sewed that pocket sleeve back. I then smoothed out the wallet flat, gave it a good cleaning and leather treated, and PRESTO, it’s like new and looks dapper enough. Saved forty bucks, at least for now. Another hint, guys. Like a good hot breakfast? When you make your omelet and fries or hash browns, double the order, and split it before sitting down. Put the seconds in a dish, cover, put in fridge. You have a yummy breakfast you only have to nuke the next day...simple enough, but we don’t always think about it. Last, stash a spare car key in your wallet. Almost every man I know has always got his wallet in his hip pocket, so if you lock the car with keys in, you have a key ON you...you can keep a spare house key in there, too, or at least one in the car, because you already can get into the car. Just some things to remember. If you are in the market for a gas can, I strongly urge you to pony up the few extra bucks and get the one that pours FROM THE BOTTOM. Honestly, I don’t know why it took so long for these to hit market. They are BRILLIANT. Happy New Year, everyone...teddybear purple heart

RE: 11 Causes Of Rudeness

Good morning (from here, anyway) thanks. Perhaps I went on a bit of a huff-and really, there ARE some very cool folks there, still. It’s just that I had such fond memories of Portland once-upon-a-time being cozy-friendly, more like a home town than a city, and now it has all changed. The “outer” neighborhoods have kept this, to a degree, but the concentrated areas close to downtown seem difficult to “navigate” both traffic and personal-wise. I sent you a note. See me in m office- ha hahug teddybear

RE: 11 Causes Of Rudeness

Hi..no, he’s not the owner. This is difficult to explain, but I’ll try. Portland, Oregon isn’t like any other city. I lived there for years...many of the residents are ultra sensitive, egotistical, narcissistic. What would seem to be friendly groups and clubs are cliquish. Sarcasm is the cynical pet of the town. It seems like this bartender s attitude is tolerated...dunno I honestly don’t get it. There is a great deal of irony in this city....come on in! Be groovy and free and creative with us! Be weird! Be yourself!! (As long as we approve, of course). If I thought this way about every place, that would indicate that it might be “my” problem. But I don’t think about other places this way. The town I live in now is marvelous, the people are very, very nice, and we certainly do NOT have snotty sarcastic waiters crashing the dishes down and snarling at people. That dog don’t hunt. I am not alone in my observations-google comments on Portland and see what you find. I was so disappointed. I couldn’t have wanted to live in Portland more-and it was nice in the seventies. I know we are ultimately responsible for our own contentment, but as sure as water is wet, this town, which I once loved and embraced, sucks. What a shame...thanks for letting me steam. And ANOTHER thing...laugh love you, btw, Happy New Year, u r a doll..teddybear

RE: 11 Causes Of Rudeness

Very spot onthumbs up

RE: 11 Causes Of Rudeness

Theres a man who works in a popular Portland beatnik type folk bar who snaps nastily at customers, slams drawers and doors, slams the glasses and other dishes into the washer, and very angrily on the shelves. He’s always extremely short tempered, even hostile. He’s been there for years. I don’t get it...I had a word with some of his co workers and other customers. People just say, oh, that’s xxx, he’s got some issues... I understand that , but in all my days, and I did that kind of work, I wasn’t allowed to behave that way, and I had plenty of problems. You have to set your own crap aside when you go to work.

Thats supposed to be Ye Banks And Ye Braes..how I wish this system would stop correcting my text...I can’t find out how to prevent this!

RE: what song taught you the most in life?

Gosh, it’s hard to pinpoint just one. I get much from Robert Burns....Flow Gently, Sweet Afton, Ye Banks And Ye Braves, also very much like some Irish ballads, thanx, Dino...The Parting Glass, Whiskey In The Jar. Gospel favorites...This Is My Fathers World, How Great Thou Art...handshake

JUST WONDERING

Good morning everybody. It hasn’t happened very many times, and until a day or so ago, it had been a long time...I noticed a thread I was participating on had gone to no new replies..archived. So, wondering if my comments and or threads are sometimes too controversial? Thanx for your feedback.teddybear

RE: Mocking is catching

i second that! Ditto....teddybear

RE: Mocking is catching

Don’t internalize so much. It’s not a matter of emotions. You tend to shoot from the hip before grasping what people are trying to get across. ( P.S. I don’t dislike you— but you get on my nerves a bit with constant rhetoric. Chill a tad..)

RE: Mocking is catching

Its a two- way street. What a snowflake...have you read other prattle by him? Wants the cake and eat it to...it’s wrong to expect what one won’t give themself...read, read, read...you’ll see..professor

RE: Mocking is catching

Hey guy— it was just a suggestion. Look at the comments you’re getting...it’s not that I don’t like some of your rhetoric, so your snotty retort was displaced. And I’ll write in this, or any other topic thread, as I want to. If YOU don’t like it, YOU can do something else. You are not making any headway with your attitude. Try again, but think first. If you want folks to be interested in what you have to say, you need to do it in a way that causes them to WANT to...but to step away from negativity, I’ll go...don’t have time for blathering poopers — so, Pedro, a victory for you— one less reader. Bon chance, Bouche- pet...cool

RE: Mocking is catching

Just a thought: go to some other members’ forum threads and read/participate instead of just creating more and more threads of your own. Hint: many of the diverse topics you present are legion— it’s like asking why the sky is blue...absorb some adages from others— it’s good for you.handshake
