No, having the last word is extremely unneccessary for me. There is no right or wrong in an arguement and everyone loses in a fight. Picking your battles wisely and knowing when to say something and when to say nothing is crucial in the art of compromise. You can say something and run as good of a chance at ruining a relationship as the same as saying nothing. Compromise is the most element that has to be incorporated if one is to seek resolution.

I believe that even "long distance" relationships have limits. I know for me personally I would want someone that would be on the same continent. It is hard for two people of totally different cultures to form a relationship if at least one of the two isn't willing to compromise and make accomdations for the other. I think you should stay active among the forums and scout out the various women available, you will probably catch a lady's attention. I can try to respond honestly to any email or flowers that I receive because it is nice that someone sends it and thinks of me. I understand your frustrations, but is it really that hard to meet a beautiful Brazilian women who isn't closer to you or are you wanting to emigrate to the US for the right woman? By putting exactly what you desire and what you are willing to sacrifice for the sake of gaining a loving relationship..you may entice more women to give you a chance. Judy, I'm relatively new to this online dating scenario, but I can completely understand your apprehensions and caution. It's a big wide world out there and we never know who we are going to potentially meet when we agree to a face to face meeting. It's up to us to protect and safeguard ourselves in the event of something going awry. You are correct in advising your friends and family of your plans as it will be known as to your whereabouts should the question ever arise. I would think that after speaking for a certain period of time and gaining a comfort level with that other person, actual phone communication would begin. You are wise to remain cautious about your private information especially when all one needs is a telephone number and a reverse TN# search can be performed on the internet and you can be located with just those 6 digits. The ones that push you for TMI should be an indication of someone who wants to take things to a level that you aren't comfortable with. That is both disrespectful and presumptious on their part, stick to your guns. If those red flag are raised then by all means cease and desist from further contact. A man shouldn't push you into sharing things you aren't ready to share and impatience is not a good character trait. I know from my experience I will only give my TN# to someone whom I have a sense of trust from. It takes me awhile to fully establish that rapport and sense of comfort. I would have nothing to do with a man who tried to rush me into doing anything I was not completely comfortable with. I've spent the last 7 years being single and I know it can be a real jungle out there, so a bit of self preservation is a neccessity.
I think that in the case of religion being relative to terrorism..I don't think it is the religion itself so to speak. I believe it is what is being taught and ingrained into people that makes them become terroristic martyrs in the name of their religion. The religions I am familiar with teach love, acceptance, forgiveness and loving your neighbor as yourself, but when twisted around these words could be interpreted in a whole other context. I don't think it's the religion it's the nutjobs who are killing, fighting, and martrying themselves in the NAME of religion that brings so many people to believe that there is a direct connection. Whilst I cannot attempt to speak for everyone here, I myself find that I am ashamed of the president that my country has elected. People are subjected to airport harrassment, illegal search and detainment and the government says it is all in the name of safety.
I understand your utter frustrations on behalf of your friend, but being part of the community of "little people" I myself am at a loss as to how to respond or offer assistance. I do the best I can to understand each individual post, but this one is truly out of my realm. I suggested going to the US Embassy, although I don't know what particular satisfaction can be offered via that route.
I hope your friend receives far better treatment in the future and please don't let one bad experience marr your opinoin of ALL Americans. Some of have no other choice but to sit back idly watching the Idiot of the Free World leading us down a path to doom and destruction. I know I myself cannot wait till the next election!!!!

In one part of your post you refer to your friend as a "he" and then in latter parts as a "she"? I'm confused on the gender, but all that aside, I believe it's unconstitutional to forcibly detain and strip search someone without probable cause. If I were your friend I'd get into contact with the US Embassy in the area in question and maybe see about getting some type of counsel as to what to do next. I've never traveled overseas so I do not know the protocol, but hope this info helps in some way.
Both questions, same answer: the ball in the bucket of 45 degree F water hits the bottom of the bucket last. Did you think that the water in the 30 degree F bucket is frozen? Think again. The question said nothing about that bucket having anything in it. Therefore, there is no water (or ice) to slow the ball down...
If I were in Hawaii and dropped a bowling ball in a bucket of water which is 45 degrees F, and dropped another ball of the same weight, mass, and size in a bucket at 30 degrees F, them at the same time, which ball would hit the bottom of the bucket first? Same question, but the location is in Canada?
