We got married at the local Justice of the Peace, in Lisbon, New York State, on a beautiful sunny late summer day, with two friends as witnesses. The bride wore a pink floral dress, with matching flowers in her hair, and the groom worn black formal pants and a grey shirt..
We are not sat outside, with friends, having large glasses of wine and having great fun and are very happy..
We thought we would let you all know..
Please wish us well, for we love each other and look forward to a life filled with happiness and love..
Seriously... In my opinion, and based on my own experience, I think more mature men (Im not sure what you class as "older" though - are more thoughtful and considerate than younger guys. I am not generalising here, just making an opinion based on personal experience..
Things change for both as our bodies get older, but I truely think that quality is better than quantity, and think that older men (not necessarily more experienced men) just are more in tune with the emotional side of love as well as the physical. The beautiful act of making love emcompasses, of course, both those aspects and the combination of them can make love sublime..
Now, that sounds good! I know Dave's speciality is macarni cheese, too..
Its a lump of pork sausagemeat that I decided to take out and try and do something with, as its too hot for pork chops and things which are also there..
Just not sure what to do with it. I used to make homemade sausage rolls (pigs in blankets, I think you call them here) with homemade pastry, but they are more of a finger food, really, not a meal..
I call zuccini "courgettes", so Im very confused here!!
Ok, folks, question for you: I have some sausagemeat Im going to take out of the freezer here. Any Good Ole Boy recipies anyone can advise me on to do with it??
Dave was talking about yellow squash and zuccini last night, and saying how good they were. I will tell him about this recipe and sweet talk him into making it for me!
Im sure I will get bored with them, but this will be my first white winter for many years, and Im threatening to embarass everyone on the block by building snowmen everywhere and dancing around naked..
The tomato crop here has been very bad this year, apparently. Too much rain earlier in the summer, so they are quite hard to come by..
Wow, that sounds great! I like spicy sausages, so a little chilli or paprika thrown in would go down a treat there. Will have to try and fire up the barbie one more time before the temperature drops!
Yes, as regards the bacon grease - you got it. I used to save the fat from the roasting joint (beef, chicken whatever), and then cook up all the leftovers in that.
My tummy is rumbling now..
Thanks for your posts! Its great to compare local delicacies and recipes..
I think its called Bubble and Squeak because when the greens fry they can make a squeaking noise in the pan while cooking. Something like that, anyway!!
Well, Brussel Sprouts in England and Ireland - not sure if they are grown here. Its basically a "leftovers" meal; anything in the fridge veggie wise - potatoes (pre cooked), onions, greens, anything really. Just put a little oil in the pan, throw it all in, with salt and pepper and fry it until it is crispy..
I used to have just a very thin spreading on hot toast and butter for breakfast; its very good for you, especially women as it has loads of Vit B and stuff..
Yes, I find it amazing, and thats partly the joy of travelling, I think, is experiencing different foods.
I was trying to explain Marmite to Dave the other day; in Austrailia its called Vegimite. Seems you dont have it here, which I find astonishing, as you have everything else!! I am going to ship some over, I think!
Yep, the coating bit is nice, but fattening, I guess! Oh well, an extra walk coming later, then!
I think the film has Julia Roberts in it? I have seen bits of it, but not the whole thing. Will try and search it out. All is great here; Dave at work and Im a Domestic Goddess, kinda!!
I think its as much hit and miss as any normal relationship, really. For some, it works, for some it dont - as you said. Think it depends on personal circumstances and commitments.
As I said before, it takes a bucket load of trust, and alot of patience. As far as Im concerend, Im very glad I stuck it out, because now Im happier than Ive ever been.
As regards TG's post, well, LDR are also about people who have met and for some reason cannot live together straight away. In those cases you already know if the chemistry is there.
As regards visas and things - yes, some countries can be complicated, but Ireland has the whole EU on the horizon, which require in the main no visas or changes of currency, and, I might add, a lot better climate!! Just think maybe, if one is able to consider it, moving further afield would be good. Its also an adventure - nothing ventured, nothing gained!
Nope, Id never had one either, until 3 weeks ago!!
Good, but fattening, I would imagine!
I do like all the fresh veggies here; obviously we had veggies in Ireland, but they were mostly imported. To be surrounded by them here is amazing, and really there is no excuse whatsoever to be overweight here!!
