And as an Irishman, I can see where you are coming from.
And I would tend to agree.
However, be open and honest about your intentions. Ireland was, and freaked alot of people out because of it. The US are doing the same thing. But because they are big, and huge, and intimidating, and so powerful, other nations think they have the right to critisise. They dont. Its purely an envy thing, and the soooner they realise it, the better..
As regards the fact that America is insular, thats not true.
I went out tonight, and had a conversation tonight about the IRA, and the general position in Ireland and the US, and also the Hispanic Situation as regards to immigration.
US people are generally very interested in what is going on in the world. Certainly they were as regards the Irish/American Situation.
We have discussed it this morning, obviously, and we both agreed that we made a HUGE mistake in rushing things. I have explained the reasons for that, but even so, it was rash. Although we do not intend to rent ever again, it has still been a lesson learned..
Jesse has rented out in the past, but only to friends, and luckily that all worked out. This was different, and is just not worth the hassle.
Thank you so much Scuba for your posts. I needed to speak to sane, intelligent people today!!
Yes, totally agree with that, and its the one BIG mistake we made here on this occasion. This was partly due to wanting to get it rented ASAP, and it was somewhat rushed.
I have rented out in the past myself, and always, always went down the route of references. This recent occurance just underlines how paramount that is..
Do you know what, sir? Im getting sick and tired of your constant insulting patronising and generally negative comments, which is not being nasty, simply stating the truth from scrolling through your posts..
The info I posted was acquired from a bone fida site, the info was directly from the World Health Organisation, and I considered it INTERESTING AND HOPEFULLY INFORMATIVE TO ALL. Which is why I took the time to read, copy and post it on here.
If you have nothing constructive to add to the discussion, why bother at all
Im simply NOT in the mood for people like you today..
Well, HOPEFULLY our own situation is sorted now. Jesse went up, while I was flaked out on the sofa earlier this morning, and had a "Man to Man" with this character. It seems that he has "promised" to leave peacefully on Saturday, according to the terms of our own eviction notice. We shall see....
It just seems in general, as your case also points to, that the rights are far too heavily on the side of the tenant.
After our argument early this morning, we DID in fact call the local police, asking for this person to be evicted due to the noise and threatening and abusive language that I especially was on the receiving end of.
We were told, quite catergorically, that "THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO". Our only option was to wait until today to go see the Judge. Even then, despite our weekly contract, this person could either be handed a 3 day eviction notice by the court, or a 30 DAY ONE. So, this is my point. What is the point of a weekly contract, with weekly notice, if it is simply not adhered to??
I downloaded a proper contract, pursuant to New York State Laws. I did everything I was supposed to. I am a law secretary, so I am pretty well up on these things, although of course the laws here are slightly different to what Ive been used to.
This is why I became very angry. This contract was legal, open and honest and was signed voluntarily by the tenant. He was screaming in my face, quite literally, at 2am this morning - saying that because he did not receive the contract until two days after moving in, despite us clearly saying that we WOULD be giving him a contract to sign, that "HE WAS FORCED BY US INTO SIGNING"..
This is my point. It seems in general that the tenant's rights FAR outway the landlord's. Its simply not fair, and I really think the law should be changed to even things up somewhat.
