Speaking for myself yes.I have made a few friends that i did go out with but for one reason or another we are just friends and yes I talk to them just about everyday.and i do love women but at the same time I am faithful.most of my friends are women and I love it.

Frienship and love have very different energies though.
I agree that love grows from friendship. But what happens long term is unfortunatly very different. Just see how many couples dissolve and end up hating each others guts. On the other hand, I truely beleive in friends forever. I guess intimacy comes so very early on that people don´t take the time to know each other well,be friends, and then best friends.

Dear azul colibri.....from my experience on CS,this is no myth to me I have met some very decent males,Rob,for one is a very decent friend,I go to him for advice when there's a problem & he so sweetly finds a solution,we are just good poet friends,there are others too who have been in touch for quite sometime and we have a good healthy rapport.So it is possible my dear.Thanks for this interesting article.

i did not just date him i married him and stayed with him for 23 years being treated like a possesion and only allowed to go wher he thought i should go. when he started to try and controll the children who were then becoming adults i knew it was time to go. I walked after that length of time with 2 suitcases after giving a life time of building a home paying for it and everything else. after nearly 2 years i am finally getting my life back on track after a lot of help. He did not just destroy me but also my oldest son may god forgive him because i never will.If u are in that situation dont just walk away run.

I think because of the fact that this gentleman was one of the first friends my ex introduced me to made the difference. It was always upfront and seem honest and sincere.

I know it´s a delicate matter. Maybe if your best friend is from childhood or teenage years, it´s easy because it´s always been like that.

This is a very tough one for me. I am not sure how it would work out because I have never had a female as a best friend. (except for my bff I met here. ) I think it would be fantastic, but I just wonder about getting too attached and messing up the friendship.
I know it can be done. The lady I married many years ago had a male for a best friend. They met in high school. They relied on each others friendship and were extremely close, until he passed away only a few years ago.
I hope one day I will be able to honestly answer yes to this. I believe it is not a myth.... for some.

There's one major point that hasn't been mentioned. We are assuming that the persons are both single. If one or both are involved in relationships then big big problems can arise. From a personal point of view I had to be very careful or otherwise I'd have one suspicious husband. And don't forget the usual town gossip that also comes into the equation.

Since I've been single I've made a few male friends and there's been no dramas. But I tend to draw a line. . . . . . this your side. . . . . this mine. And too much alcohol will eventually cause emotions to get a bit carried away. You can just about guarantee it.

However it is still possible. It's just a matter of staying level-headed.

Trust is basic. I guess it all come down to cominication, or lack of it. Trying to guess what the other thinks doesn´t work, does it!
For me, a man who is not scared of what others might think is very attractive. Just being yourself and communicating is fine.
About just being friends, it might not work for everyone.

Thanks for reading, Calm. I really felt like sharing more details about my experiences but it would sound boring. I do have a special heart for animals since childhood and having seen so much brutal treatment of animals that happened around me, I'm feeling so sorry for the poor innocent animals and some guilty cruel people. In some rural areas people still eat dogs and cats or any animals they can catch. Even in my city, I also have seen children throwing chicks to each other like playing toss game near their school gate... pity this phenomena will last for a long long time until everyone can realize the danger of species extinction and the disappearance of humanity....... But it's funny that I never dare to kill chickens like many others ever did, I even didn't dare to carve meat. Oh, I think I just have a dread of seeing blood and hearing screams!!!
