Life after Death

We would all like to think that there is a form of life after death; There have always been stories of people who have died and come back to life after an accident or during surgery, however recent studies by a Dr. Robert Lanza suggests that our consciousness moves to another state after death.

His research has been based on the use of stem cells to develop technology to prevent the extinction of endangered animals. The research uses the principle of quantum physics, atoms are predictable according to Einstein’s theory of relativity but at a subatomic level they are not, if particles can exist in more than one place are there alternative universes?

I always have very bizarre dreams and wonder if it’s my consciousness telling me something, I can hear and see during my dreams and to a certain extent feel, So when I do become worm food will my consciousness continue? I am certainly not religious and this is not about religion, more about Scientific facts and would this explain people’s experiences of reincarnation?

We are a worldly bunch of people here, what are your thoughts?

I'm hoping that when I depart this mortal coil that I'd have lived a full and meaningful life and have no desire for more.

Hoping I might decide to donate my carcass to a body farm wine
Ob, Fair comment, I have no clue, but could it be that your intelligence and education stay the same throughout these journeys through time and consciousness and therefore you cannot become someone better than you were?
Serene, Most of us feel that way, If the consciousness does exist in another universe or dimension no one has come back and described it.
Knowing my luck I'd probably come back as a honey badger mumbling
Ob, Probably rolling on the floor laughing But Im sure that if our consciousness wanted to it could make us better qualified somehow, You could be a Doctor in another dimension, I think I am pretty much the same as I was in my primordial soup days at times.
Serene, Somehow I think human consciousness will stick to humans rather than animals, still, honey badgers can be cute in a honey badgery way.
I want to believe that when I die I'm reunited with my loved ones and we all live happily ever after again. But like I've said before is that possible, is that too fairy tale ending. Maybe we do have different lives, come back in another carcass male/female/animal, explore different life scenarios, learn different lessons and move higher up the path of self discovery? I'm still undecided as I have evidence of the two things being very real to me, so maybe it's another choice we make when we pass! All Im convinced about is that death isn't the end...smile
I don't have a belief in life after death, I feel it's a comfort we hold on to, a consolation that we'll reunite with those we've lost.
Rough, I would hope that we do learn and live lives that are better than the previous one, our consciousness when alive strives to be better, why not continue.
Mic, Some wise words as usual cheers

It does appear that we do not learn from mistakes, maybe in this universe it stays as is, perhaps in another it can change.
I'm with Mark Twain handshake
Mic It depends how you view the recycled person. Maybe the guy living this life in a flat single and happy but not quite content even though he has money in the bank, has lived a life previously of misfortune and being homeless without money, let alone a bank account. Thus meaning that he has progressed but still has lessons to learn in relationships, money, self worth etc!
I don't know, but it's a possibility!
Perhaps the better we do in our current life will assist us in the next?, Its no good thinking that "I'm poor and useless, unloved etc, but will be in my next life" and being a lazy no good a**.
Good point, rough! cheers
While we may not be progressing as a group, we may be learning lessons as individuals.
It is indeed a possibility!

cowboy
Yeah that's it the two concepts go hand in hand and work together to progress more than your previous life and lead you to a better life next time! Just think map, one day you could be King rolling on the floor laughing
Map, I have no idea. But then nobody does.
I think this is one area that science and religion are extremely close but neither would admit.
Neither have a clue, but both believe that it is only our physical body dies, that our energy/soul continues on in some form.
Map

Maybe Varys the spider
Claim the 7 kingdoms for yourself ?
Varys is supposedly a eunuch so that wouldn't be the best reincarnation tbh.
Map, I doubt we will.
Although some people already claim to know.
They may, or they may have overactive imagination,
Ob..??? Game of Thrones stuff?

Nota, Thanks for the info, I would have hated to have gone through all that to be a eunuch

Molly, Those that claim they know probably have an overactive imagination.
I wish I knew, but don't think anyone can be fully sure of anything in life. So I just gain knowledge, explore options and trust that I'll end up somewhere good lol
Rough, that is as good as it gets, I'd say laugh
Now, we see through a glass darkly ...

Volunteers and rescue workers often experience odd encounters and it is pretty generally accepted that the consciousness of the recently dead, especially after trauma, hangs around for a while and attempts to interact with the life they've so abruptly left.

I do think we were much more civilized when we thought we would be accountable for our actions to a Higher Power. That, to me, was the whole point of religion - always to act as though we were being watched. A whole generation is growing up without that caution built in at all, and therefore feels free to act on their basest instincts so long as there is no CCTV around dunno I guess one way of making sure the afterlife is not too crowded, eh? Most of that lot will be headed straight off to oblivion. And yeah, yeah, yeah, you will tell me a person can be good value in the community without being tied to outdated beliefs. That's you. Look around. Lot of yobs out there who are lethal in the community and don't see any reason why they can't do exactly what they feel like doing, even if it is vile, or horrible.

Which is way off topic laugh

I do believe there is something after death. I don't have a clue what it is, and not really in that much of a hurry to find out uh oh but it doesn't frighten me.
we as humans were created with a body and soul. our body is just a shell that houses our soul. upon death our soul goes back to GOD the creator who breathed the gift of life into us.HE promises eternal life for all that believe and trust in him.

as far as incarnation goes we only have one chance in this life and we have a choice to make, we choose GOD or or man made things or ideas. we are still going through life with the struggle between good and evil.
Interesting!...I have my doubts about life after death. To me death is death. The end of us. We returned back to dust. And from my perspective, that is the end of the world for me.

But if we are to come back or reincarnate into something different, I would love to return a bird, a bird that flies low just a meter above the waves and enjoy the vastness of the ocean....
if there is another life that follows this one, i wonder if we are searching or someone like one we have known before. do we search for a "tribe" of individuals we once shared our fire with? i wonder if we do find a few along the way on each of our life's journey.
Now there is me thinking again map (our dare you make me think outside my box)laugh laugh

I feel for awhile maybe after we are gone our conscionsness stays around, the soul, the thing you cannot touch but is you non-the-less, stays in form, then after awhile it disperses into the universe, no longer an individual but the univerese Conscionsness. Yes I truly beleive that. hug

Now thinking in my box I will linger in any form and haunt those that have done me wrong, so map if you ever see a trolly grin going wild you know its just good old red rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
Hi Map I have to agree with alot of what Biff says. Regarding your dreams, did you ever have an extremely intense dream, you wake up perspiring, and you are afraid to go back to sleep so you get up and walk around for abit... it is a bizarre dream , sometimes it's about a loved one... I don't believe there is no reason for these dreams.

Scientists are finding out more and more each day, and people who have died for a v short while seem to share the same experiences,, which some scientists explain away but others think is actually where they enter a heightened consciousness, as in , a different life plane and then come back to the body.

I would be foolish to say I can prove without a doubt....doh
Hi gg, They say that dreams are often our sub consciousness trying to tell us something, maybe so, In my case its telling me I am being chased or falling, so who knows what Im trying to tell myself.

When I was in boarding school there was an Australian guy who mentioned that at night he would astral plane and go see his family, he explained that he could use his consciousness to travel anywhere he wanted, back then we wanted to stick a tyre around his neck and burn him, but it does seem to make a little sense now.

Howzit Ek, Thanks for your comment, very wise words " In order for consciousness to experience itself it must create individuality and diversity"..a definite point to ponder.
Is your dream state,in an alternate universe.or afterlife your alternate universe.?.
Ash, Mostly in bed, no idea where else, they are pretty cool though.grin
" pretty cool though"
sleep
Send me a dream invite in my time zone 2am.thumbs up happy place in about 14hr
Ash, Are you sure?, What may be seen can never be unseen, still better than the movies, I always get the afro dude in front of me, even in some dreams, when I'm dreaming I'm at the Cinema, I will ask the sandman for assistance in issuing invites as I will probably be having my afternoon siesta in 14 hours.
I will be lucid dreaming.cool 3-D I hope.
My dreams have been upgraded to 4K ultra HD and my mind has a curved screen for added realism, Screenplays are by Martin Scorsese too.
I do believe in life after death Map. I just do and can't explain but that is my belief. The vastness of this Universe and how insignificantly small we are factoring in the size of the whole endless solar system, I know somewhere, somehow is a place where we dwell for the after life.

I have read the book of Dr. Brian Weiss and it basically changed me. Try to read it if you have time. Many Lives, Many Masters. Very intriguing yet makes sense to me.
Always thought that I wanted to come back as a womens bicycle seat.
After many years of witnessing poor bicycles that is no longer the case.
Maybe bathroom scales with a 60kg limit. Atleast I'll have something to look up to.wow
