A Young UK Man, Wise Beyond His Years

“It’s straight out of 1984 book, the idea that we’re going to have to get out our phones, get out our passes, show our papers in the streets, or if we want to go in a pub, it’s funny, it’s honestly funny that people don’t see where this is going. It’s about control. If you allow the government to break the law and violate your rights for an emergency, what’s stopping them from creating an emergency to break the law.”

Attorney General Sues School Districts For Imposing Mask Mandates On Children
Embedded image from another site

Missouri’s attorney general filed a lawsuit against continued mask mandates in public schools. The class action lawsuit was filed by Attorney General Eric Schmitt on Tuesday.

Schmitt claimed mask mandates put in place by certain Missouri school districts were more harmful to students than they were helpful. He pointed out students lost facial expressions and visual cues from their peers and teachers when forced to mask up, which could set them behind other children.

“There have been no deaths under the age of 10. There has been five under the age of 18. Of the hospitalizations, one in 200,000 is a kid related to COVID-19,” he explained. “You balance that with what we know as a growing body of evidence of potential psychological and emotional issues that kids suffer from having to wear a mask all day long and some of the learning difficulties.”

Sleep is very, very good. And while it's essential to get a solid seven to nine hours per night, when you occasionally miss the mark, a nap can help a great deal.

What's spreading like a wildfire in the USA is the Covid-19 virus

Almost all of the new cases are variants other than the original, and the predominant variant is now the Delta.

Thankfully, the smarter people (~ 54.6%) have been vaccinated at least once and almost half of the population (~48.8%) are fully vaccinated, receiving both doses. Thus, although there is less antibody production to this newer variant, they are mostly protected from a serious illness from the virus due to other components of the immune system, unless they have other health issues, which interfere with them having an active immune system.

The vaccination data is even better for the older & wiser folks (age 65 and older) as about 89.2 %
have had at least one dose and 79.6 % are fully vaccinated with 2 doses.

Despite this scenario of most people being vaccinated, this current past week there was a significant increase in the hospitalizations due to Covid-19. Indeed the 7 day moving average increased 32.2% from 2,663 to 3,521. Obviously, these are people who are not vaccinated. So, not only did it increase for the nation, but the increase was focused on the unvaccinated. Thus, it essentially went up over 60% on them.

The number of deaths also increased for this period from 6 to 9. But, one should realize, that these deaths were mostly due to previous hospitalizations during previous weeks. Thus, the deaths due to the illness of the most recent hospitalizations for the most part have not yet occurred. Unfortunately, those deaths are likely to occur in the following weeks. As I've stated before, there are lag periods between infection and hospitalization and between hospitalization and death and between death and reporting of death. While they are related, there is a delay in the full process. Again, obviously, this increase was also among the unvaccinated.

Hopefully, the unvaccinated are smart enough to understand the relationship, and finally get vaccinated before it's too late.
Their life indeed may depend upon it. The families of the dead now wish that their family member
had ignored the political b.s. and simply got vaccinated.

Snoring - help

Most person in a relationship are convinced that it is just the other one who snores. You know how it goes. You poke the other one and they will roll over and stop snoring, or you have that conversation -

*sleepy voice* wha? why you poke me?
you're snoring
I doan snore. YOU snore
Whatever. Go back to sleep. And don't snore!
*grumbling tone* then doan POKE me

But sometimes that isn't an option. You can't get to them to poke them, but you are kept awake by the noise - in a hotel, on a long-distance flight, a noisy neighbour, a guest in your second bedroom, whatever - it can last a few minutes, or it can go on, and on, and on, and on ......

Or, in a way even worse, you're the one who slept like a baby, everyone else (in the hotel, on the flight, in your spare room) is looking exhausted uh oh

Are there ways of stopping snoring?

AND

Are there ways you can use where the snorer doesn't even know you are using ways? devil

Very good news regarding the Coronavirus

A lot of progress has taken place in understanding the coranavirus.
The genes have been sequenced and proteins have been made.
Indeed, one of those proteins is a "spike" protein that the virus uses to attach
to a host cell. It's sort of like an anchor that initiates further progress in the
infection process.
After the virus attached to the cell, the membranes of the cell and the virus then fuse,
enabling the RNA of the virus to enter the cell and direct new virus production.

Well, genes for this spike protein itself have been isolated and incorporated into cells.
These cells were then used to make lots of this spike protein.
Subsequently, this protein has been 3D mapped and now it has been sent to many
research teams to both produce drugs for treatment and to use as antigens to make vaccines.

Thus within a month or two, vaccines will possibly become made and tested for effectiveness.
The bottom line, is that progress is rapidly being undertaken.

There may actually be something good to come out of this. The common cold is caused by a virus
in the coronavirus family. Imagine if one of the vaccines against the new virus also works to
prevent the common cold. It is possible. It would be a nice positive side effect.
I can hear the potential commercials now. laugh

BCG (the TB inoculation) could be an answer

Most of us were inoculated against TB at birth - the BCG shot gave us a very mild and modified version of tuberculosis which our immune systems cured pretty promptly, leaving us with up to 15 years of protection.

In some countries TB remains a recurring problem and booster shots are required to top up that immunity. Africa, very much so, where it remains the leading cause of death. Countries like India, China, Portugal, Greenland, have higher incidences of it. Because BCG is a deliberate infection, it carries a slight risk in itself and also quite a painful jab to have, so since the 70s most countries have chosen only the birth shot, to protect children. The US, at very low risk of TB, chose a good while back to not inoculate at all.

The WHO is currently investigating the link between inoculation and the spread of the virus. It looks as though BCG - an inoculation which is cheap, plentiful and has been in use for 100 years - may be a key player in this war. Look at their TB map compared to the virus map I downloaded yesterday. You can see why they'd be interested.
