In UK and now in Spain, I can buy my groceries at an automated teller, with one human employee monitoring about 12 machines
I can draw cash at an ATM, pay bills, transfer cash, without going into a bank
I can fill my car up and pay the pump without going into the shop
I can phone almost any big organization and be helped by the robot on the phone - in fact, reaching a human being can be quite a mission
Assembly lines in factories are increasingly automated, with artificial intelligence taking on more of the key decisions

Why?

I would understand if we had a shrinking population and jobs had to be automated. We don't. There are more people being born every second, the international population is the largest it has been in recorded history. So why are there fewer job opportunities with every passing day?



I teach English online as a second language and the bulk of my pupils are Chinese, Japanese, or Korean. Most are already in jobs and wanting to improve their prospects, but some are kids. I don't have a child at school, haven't had for a good twenty years, so it was a shock to learn what is expected of kids these days - playing sport, learning musical instruments, studying foreign languages, doing so many extracurricular activities that finding time to be a child is pretty secondary. I mentioned it on FB and it's everywhere, the pressure is on kids all over the world to excel.

Is this so they can hope to stand out in the crowded future, when only one in ten youngster entering the workplace could hope to find even a basic job?

oh, dreich? a Scottish word. Definition - A combination of dull, overcast, drizzly, cold, misty and miserable weather. At least 4 of the above adjectives must apply before the weather is truly dreich. Yup, it's dreich.



Roll on next week when the sun comes back, and at least it will come back, in Scotland this would be it until about March.

I'm having a not great day, my school link has crashed and keeps crashing, it's on the college end but still a bit of a bugger because I really want that teaching income right now. Lots of expenses popping up out of the woodwork all at the same time, you know how it goes, they always come in threes.

I'm not devastated, or traumatized, but you know what? I think I should be. There's obviously something wrong with me



I shan't feel right until I feel truly shattered.

Reading further about Eastern Mysticism, I am at the section speaking about the Chinese and the yin and the yang. The symbol that represents it is very enlightening. The full circle, if you will (cyclical motion)...the interconnected of everything in the universe, the polar opposites...with each leading into the other, the necessity of each existing for the universe to be.

I have thought of it as like a single cell battery.

They say the yang (white) represents man, while the dark represents female. The polar opposites. So many differences between man and woman, not one is better or worse than the other.

But, like the battery with its positive and negative poles. In order for the usefulness and the life of the battery to exist, both poles must be used.

So, for humans, both poles must be used....for life and usefulness. The man being rational and the woman intuitive. ....together...they make....

This from the Chinese, dating back thousands of years.


We are suppose to be different.

Of course, the yin and yang represents more than just man and woman...but everything with opposite poles.

Well...inspired by another person having a night on the town right now

Last night a buddy of mine Nick and I went out to the big city....a city of about 5000 people. That is huge around here.

We both concluded it as being a successful night...laying the ground work. It started out at the oldest pub in town, been open since the late 1800's, with some chick talking about slitting my neck. I didn't do crap to her. She was kinda mumbling to me and I didn't hear what she said. Later she came over and starting rubbing herself on my buddy and I. She told me she wanted to dance with me...there was no dancing going on and.... ....I just kinda left the area and later told my buddy that the slit your neck statement was a deal breaker. She was kinda cute. My buddy and I were speculating of how beautiful she would be if she brushed her teeth in the last week or so, put on a nice dress, and maybe a touch of make up and maybe some contacts. ...she would have been smoking. ...she was a short little red-head with a nice rack disguised by her sweatshirt.

We left that place to go to another place. There a woman I recognized from poker came over and we started talking. He had another poker lady player with her and another friend. We all chatted for some time until they moved to the next bar...telling us to come with them. Well, we were heading that way anyway. Don't make any mistakes, not really our types. But, we went to the next bar and we just walked by them. ...we didn't think they noticed us. ....naw...they did. The non-poker player lady came over and asked why we didn't go by them. ...I said there were no seats over there and we were going to go over there. She didn't buy it. She started rubbing up to my buddy...while two 20 something chicks sat to my left. I started chatting with them. One of them recognized me...and they shared a sip of their drink with me. Success! Laying some ground work.

Anyway, my buddy and I decided to go back to the bar where the psycho woman was at. Well...the one that was rubbing up to my buddy wanted to go with us. All the time, my buddy was giving me that look like...please rescue me. What could I do? I told her, sure...you can come with. I got all the pigs and shit out of the back of my car.

The moral of the story...it is nice when women approach men. More women should do that. :)

I wanted to post a comment on the most recent feminism blog, but I see the comments had been disabled. Let it be known, I will not attack anyone on their personal opinions and perceptions. I don't see a productive furthering the discussion of a serious topic if we are in a sense intimidating others from contributing.

The videos the previous blogger posted have very valid points that were being made and I encourage others on checking out what is being said.

The exact anger and frustrations that men may currently feel are the exact same emotions that drove women to take the extreme stances they have today. I feel there is no constructive and mutually beneficial way in becoming more understanding of each other if we are going to perpetuate these negative behaviors.


But...that is just my thoughts...

Anyway, the comment I wanted to make on his blog was:

Last night, a buddy and I went out. We were both standing by the bar and a woman and her friend came up to the bar next to my buddy. From what I think I know about women, now days, a lot of women need to give you the green light to approach them. (maybe I was informed wrongly). But, my buddy is more the traditional guy. He just went ahead and tried to talk to them. Boy, did he get an ear full. *&%^ off, why you talking to me you #%$#...the lady started screaming at him.

Just today, I seen two younger women broke down with their car. Granted I seen that while I was driving by the parking lot...they seemed to be confused/perhaps stuck on what to do.

I just wonder if they were maybe not waiting for a man to show up to help them?

My thought was...after these relatively two current situations that I personally witnessed....Is it that men are only good to women when they are needed? I hear it a lot, I only want a man around when I want them around....some women say.



Not to mention...I am sure some of you were waiting for my input.

I thought I might do something out of the ordinary again this weekend; I also thought it last weekend. There is very little chance of my doing anything out of the ordinary, but imagining that I could if I wanted to gives me something to look forward to. I don’t quite know how that works, but it does. Even though I know I won’t be doing anything, and even though I don’t know what I would do if I did do something, I can still, somehow, manage to look forward to it. Amazing.

If u have any habit that u feel will be not acceptable to everyone, relax!

How old is your oldest article of clothing that you still wear? I have a pair of Levis jeans that are at least 10 years old. I had to bring them in once to get the crotch area patched, but they are still holding up. I am wondering if I can get 30 years out of them?
