Look At My Beautiful Lawn

With the current drought in the Western Cape we only have water until April 12, 2018. Water restrictions are in force and we may not water our gardens. We use bath water to flush our toilets and dishwater to water the plants. sigh

I have a tiny enclosed backyard (±24 squared meters) as part of my one-bedroom dwelling and the lawn has given notice and departed for greener pastures a long time ago. Only the sand remained. I wish I had the savvy to take a pic of how it looked before. daydream

I decided to make a plan about this arid semi desert landscape that I called a back yard. The best quote for artificial lawn came to R 9,000. After checking the prices I found that this artificial lawn will cost me much cheaper if I do it myself. There is no ways that I’m going to pay a half-witted idiot R 3,000 for a few hours work. More than half the people in this country does not earn that in a month. doh

I showed the quotes to my sister and asked her, seen that it is her property, if she would carry half the expense but she said that she cannot bothered with lawn in my backyard and if I wanted lawn there, it was my baby. I said ok, in which case I’ll roll it up and take it with me when I decide to move away. tongue

I tackled the job on Saturday. Four and a half hours and R 6,000 later, I had the most beautiful lawn in Cape Town. And I'd never have to water it again. yay

I spent a few Rand extra on a few other things. Even the flowers are artificial. wow

From the other side it looks like this. My sister liked it so much that she reimbursed me with half the amount on the quote on the spot and she wants me to do a piece of her yard as well. Well, at least I’ll know how to quote for the job. She and her husband went out on Sunday and I had to make my own Sunday lunch. I invited BeaPatient to come over for the day and she did the salads. See! My fire is going. thumbs up

Look at her trying to hide in the only piece of shade around. laugh

And I had to suffer in the sun in front of a sizzling-hot fire to get the meat done. I think next time I’ll make the salads and let her stand in the sun. rolling on the floor laughing

Now, have a whale of a week, will ya!wave

Back to the good old days

The Middle Ages were cool. The common folk gathered together to let off steam, sing songs, and make bawdy s*xual jokes which were considered the height of wit, the cruder the better, and if some toilet humour could be added, people laughed so hard they farted rolling on the floor laughing grin

They accepted their lords and masters without question, even though they often mocked them mercilessly, and did as they were told even when that meant going off to fight, or their women being hauled off to the manor for a jolly rogering. They were bewildered or even angry when outsiders said they should work together to change things. CHANGE?

Outsiders who didn’t rock the boat were greeted with extreme hospitality because the villagers were vaguely aware that fresh blood in the gene pool was probably a good thing. They drank too much after a long week, fell into bed haystacks with each other - the prim Victorian age was many, many centuries in the future - and didn’t really keep track of who had fathered which baby, so a fair amount of inbreeding went on.

Their religion only ever became an issue if someone believed something else, when they became enraged to the point of apoplexy. They weren’t interested in anyone else’s point of view - their way or the highway pitchfork, bud

So - they were crudely mocking about sex, complained about their leaders, and were hostile about religious variations. I’ve been catching up on the blogs yay we’ve made it safely back to happier, simpler times!

any tips?

On how to unblock a c*ck blocker? laugh My stupid, drunk, and ....well, drunk to the point of not even know where he is at friend c*ck blocked me twice this past weekend.

In mid-sentence, the lady who I am speaking to stops. She turns to my friend, who just had to move to her other side, and says...that was my armpit. I am not sure what the hell he did, but I think he poked her in her armpit. WTF!? laugh She just got up and left. doh

Shortly after that, we go outside to have a smoke, and two chicks follow us out. One of them was a gorgeous cutie and she was flirting with me. We were talking and joking with each other, when my friend blurts out some drunken incoherent statement. Trying to be witty, I could not come up with anything to recover from that. doh So there was this awkward pause. The cutie turns to her friend, and kind of quietly says, I don't know what that means. Shortly after she says that, she says to her friend, lets go, I gotta take a piss. laugh

That was the end of that crap. doh

I know, it is easy. Just leave my friend at home. But, it is a bit more complicated than that. We have known each other forever and we are best friends. He is known to become like this...and really, he has absolutely no friends except me. Now I know why. laugh ...well, actually I knew why before....but this c*ck blocking crap just adds to the previously known why. He's a good guy and all and I would feel bad about not taking him out once and a great while, once he has the rare opportunity to go out.

Another friend of mine just called me to go out tonight for the big game. I am like sure. He goes, give Bert a call (yes, the same Bert who asked the bartender to see her d*ck), and I said...hell no. laugh And, I explained him the story. But, I don't mind going out with Bert on a weekend once in a while.

So the question is...when Ber-Tocks is out with me...and I am talking with a lady and he steps in with one of his finely crafted blocker techniques....what would you do to defuse the situation with the guy?

does it make you automatically right?

Being a bitter woman, does that automatically make you right about everything? I will admit, I did do a little bit of city driving by changing into the left lane while a vehicle was still behind me in that lane but as I put my blinker on and started moving over, the lady behind me started to speed up and that did not stop me from moving over. It ended with both of us beeping our horns at each other (she beeped first...for the record). laugh I think that is the first time I honked my horn while actually driving and moving in a car...done it a couple times if people fell asleep at the stop light. thumbs up

I have one more story about bitterness...but I will not bore you.

I would love to live in a world

Where we found as much justification if not more for compassion, as we do for war. wine

Where we valued ...... more than we do ........

Please fill in the blanks yourself. dunno
I imagine you have your own small thoughts on the first simple step to saving yourself and the world thumbs up

Scruffy Car

The inside of my car is a disgrace. The dashboard is thick in dust and the floor is covered in grit; I can hardy see out of the windscreen when the sun is shining directly onto it. I’ve tried to make myself clean it but my pleas keep falling on deaf ears; I simply can’t be persuaded. I know I could have the car valeted but I refuse to pay somebody to do a job that I’m perfectly capable of doing myself. I’m at my wit’s end; what can I do to make myself clean my car?

I wonder...not another woman blog...lol

Okay, just a wonder here...what do you all think? It came to me while responding to another person's blog....

I wonder if society as a whole is not getting played.

First they target women with feminism...

Then, men are in the crossfire..being targeted...

Hence, the whole society.

Only the tall, dark, handsome, rich, powerful men get to reproduce.

What a way to take care of the gene pool as a ultimate result.

Hmmmm....population reduction with only the fit/healthy genes....sounds like what another country attempted during WWII....only different method.

I wonder

This is not a bashing woman blog. It is more of a blog about what is possibly going on behind the scenes. ...and, the people who implement such a plan (sure both women and men were behind that)....if such a thing is happening.

again, I wonder

Losing it

What order would you put the list in, from worst to what-the-hey, these things happen -

A Losing your car in the parking lot (doh!)
B Losing your passport on holiday (you NUMPTY)
C Losing your place in a long queue because you forgot something (blast it)
D Losing concentration during a boring repetitive job (senility alert?)
E Losing weight without trying (slightly worrying)
F Losing your temper without real cause (eg road rage)

I’ve done them all except option B (so far) but last night I was doing something boring, repetitive, but important to me (setting URLs into one of my ebooks) and suddenly option D has become the most terrifying thing in the world. Until then I’d have put B at the top.

I may be over-reacting, that's why I'm asking. Perhaps everything, at the time it happens, suddenly becomes the most terrifying ...

The Gift of High Oil Prices

In hindsight, I see the era of expensive oil as being a gift to humanity. Because of high prices, we have developed reliable electric transportation, we are now looking into renewable natural resources, all while protecting our Earth.

I think sometime in the future each household will have their own source of renewable energy, whether it be solar or wind. Also, we will be using electric cars. We will then be able to power and heat our homes, after our personal power sources are paid for, for free, and we will be able to travel for free.

Thank you big oil companies. thumbs up
