Are you who you say you are?

Are blogs the easiest way to tell who is real? What they really think? Their attitudes and what they really say about what they want in life?

Anyone having good weather?

My daughter is walking her dog in 6 inches of snow. My friend there in Natal is resisting being washed out of her house by torrential rain. I know there's ice and snow and hail and awful stuff everywhere. Even sunny Spain is currently raining on the plain and here too, and will be until what the forecast calls 'breezy conditions' will blow the rain away.

So if anyone is enjoying lovely weather, do cheer us up, or make us jealous, or something.

And if your conditions are frightening - well, you probably don't have electricity to share. Sterkte. hug

(I say, what a jolly British sort of blog this is, what?)

Hmmm...married people, just how happy are they?

Out last night at a friend of mine father's birthday party, I noticed some married couples that have been married for several years.

I am a person who believes actions speak louder than words and as it has been said by many professional conversationalists, that the non-verbals speak about 80% of the true message being spoken.

The one friend of mine has been married 20+ years and I noticed late last year...since I just moved back in the area then...that whenever he says any endearing words to his wife, she either told him off, or just turned away with a repulsed look on her face. When talking with him, I can see he has that deer in the headlights look. I get that he loves her, but she...well, hate is a strong word...but, she seems to hate him.

The other friend last night, I have known him since he was a little boy, always a nice person. He came from an affluent family background, and is about 5'3" in height. He is a good looking chap. He married a very beautiful woman, one could look at it as a married made in heaven for these two. Well, at least I thought anyway. I noticed they didn't talk much with each other. They were at the party, but that is about it...a physical level. The whole night, she was out talking with random guys. I noticed that every so often, my friend would go out looking for her. Near the ending of the night, I was going to my car, and there she was, talking off in the dark and in private with another guy. Speaking with him, he just did not seem all that happy. I have never spoken with her, so I could not get much of an impression....but, the combination of both of their actions kinda gave me the picture things were not good at home.

In both cases, the men loved and wanted to be with their wives, as it appear to me, but the women seems very distant from the relationship.

In your opinion and from what you have seen or heard, who do you think would be more apt to leave a marriage, the woman or the man. From what I have heard, most always it is the woman. If that is true, why? Is it something about her biological make up...maybe she gets bored? I know once you loose attraction with a woman, it is a very difficult job to regain it.

psychological effects of isolation

So, while in this isolation state that most of us are sharing, have you had any epiphanies? Any newly discovered purpose for your life? Any thoughts you feel are worth sharing? Anything you think may be meaningful to anyone else?

Me....I just got back into playing Spades. :)

...been thinking though.

Happy isolation all...stay safe.

If the virus had a smell –

Non-smokers who are bothered by smoke – you know how far away you need to be from someone smoking before it doesn’t bother you. Stay that far from others. And we all know how long the smell of smoke hangs in an enclosed space.

Non-garlic-eaters who are bothered by the smell of it on someone’s breath (or their garlicky lasting body-odour) ditto.

Shouting REALLY loads the air with particles. Stay away from protesters. Except from polite ones. First comment refers.

I know I'm right. My friends say so.

Social media has given us voices that go far, far beyond people we’ve met, beyond our homes and offices. We chatter a lot, we make friends, get quite addicted to counting our friends (never mind the quality, feel the width). Some of my Twitter contacts have over quarter of a million followers, and follow as many back. They take this stuff seriously.

The big turning point was when we learned our virtual voice was HUGE . We can rock governments, we can direct policy, we can change the very world. Yes! You and me!

WOW. The POWER!

Whoa. Hang on. One of my virtual friends has a different take on events? UNFRIEND (or UNFOLLOW) Oh, but hang on, that reduces my friends / follower count. Hmmm.

idea I’ll just block their notifications from my FB timeline, or mute the hashtags they use on Twitter when they are being boring. Sorted!

So now I can look smugly down my timelines, and see nothing that disagrees with my views on life.

The worrying little flaw in this is that it doesn’t seem to occur to anybody that they have filtered out conflicting opinions. They believe they share the views of every one of their hundreds of virtual friends. I’ve noticed the growing trend on FB and Twitter, bet you have too, towards being dogmatic, arrogant, intolerant and completely bigoted. I turned off notifications just today from a woman who has her head twisted so far to the left it’s a wonder she doesn’t fall down stairs.

So thank you, bloggers of CS, for your huge range of blogs. We may ignore the ones that don’t look, from the titles, as if they will fit our view on life, but we can’t ignore that other people, however misguided roll eyes do have another view on life. In time this could become one of the few places left on social media where that still happens. That would be ironic - that we lot, with our strong views on any and everything, are the last people in the world who even realize there are other points of view.

If you were my mobile phone, where would you be?

And please don't all shout at once. I can't phone it, it is going straight to voicemail, it does that, decides to take a break every now and then.

The alarm is due to go off tomorrow morning, sure, I could hear it then - but it may have run out of charge. In which case I may never wake up again. uh oh

I don't expect many helpful suggestions, busy as you all are with politics and sex and there's probably a religious blog or two as well, but any suggestions would be welcomed.

NB - political, religious (including asking St Anthony) or s*xual comments will be deleted no matter how hilarious they are. Sick to death of all those subjects now. scold

In fact any comments on any other subject, whether or not they relate to my AWOL phone, are welcome. But I know how busy you are.

Not a pretty sight

Favourite stretchy white top which is a bit too dingy now with age to go public
Favourite old blue pullover, so soft after years of use it is like wearing a cobweb
My old painting slax - a bit of a splashy painter, me, so they had to be retired from public life. Two weeks and counting, they are a tiny bit tighter despite the daily exercise routine uh oh
Slip-on trainers - one very short step above slippers laugh
No makeup
No shower today - washing my hands every single time I touch anything outside my house, in this dry country, I am saving water elsewhere grin

Yeah I know, wow. The queue can form to the right. No shoving, in fact 2 metres apart please. rolling on the floor laughing

I hate living in lockdown but you only have to look at the difference in figures to see it IS worth it. On March 11 I starting tracking the countries where I know people, on a spreadsheet. Spain had around 2000 cases. The USA had around 1000.

Yes we have terrifying figures despite the lockdown but - instead of having double as many as the USA, we have half.

But I am not a pretty sight. sigh anyone else prepared to share their isolation look ...

Edited to add this photo rolling on the floor laughing
