what would you rather do?

Sit at home, let loneliness and depression creep in ever so slowly, or get out and be a part of the environment...even if that environment is deemed as not so good?

...like a bar
...like a casino
...like a dance establishment
...like a party

I feel if you don't let those places become you....they can fill in any available gaps one has in their life in the meanwhile.

Of course, given if you are a single person.

Otherwise do what? Go to a movie by yourself? Go to a restaurant by yourself? Go to a cooking class that does not exist in your area by yourself? Go hiking by yourself? Go traveling by yourself?

Don't get me wrong, I do spend time doing things with my family, but sometimes those things don't bring you in the most social situations.

Any ideas?

All the things NOT in your profile

You are not your age, nor the size of clothes you wear,
You are not a weight, or the color of your hair.
You are not your name, or the dimples in your cheeks.
You are all the books you read, and all the words you speak.
You are your croaky morning voice, and the smiles you try to hide.
You’re the sweetness in your laughter, and every tear you’ve cried.
You’re the songs you sing so loudly when you know you’re all alone.
You’re the places that you’ve been to, and the one that you call home.
You’re the things that you believe in, and the people whom you love.
You’re the photos in your bedroom, and the future you dream of.
You’re made of so much beauty, but it seems that you forgot
When you decided that you were defined by all the things you’re not.

So There you have it

Its one of those days.
It started of normal. Light shone in my eyes waking me from sleep.
I got out of bed and prepared for the day.
Dressing quite quickly and slipping on a pair of fresh clean socks. I walked down the stairs.
Beginning and continuing my day in peace and harmony. My soul cushioned by my new foot cladding.
Now Bed is calling and its just my luck to have stood on some sticky toffee stuff. Are my socks ruined ?
Is it possible to save money by just washing the outside of my socks as my feet were relatively clean when I put them on. dunno

Please leave your top tips for such an emergency in the comments.
Thank you in Advance. wave

When is it when a man is to know for sure if a woman has interest in him...rather than just thinking she might?

Don't let the old man in. Not today.

And if he pushes in anyway, don't let him make himself at home!

How old would you be, if you didn't know the day you were born? Some people are born old and some would never be old if the calendar (ok, and the mirror) didn't tell them so. They think they are supposed to let the old man in. Nope. He's a state of mind, and he's horrible.

I just listened to Clint Eastwood singing a song with the blog title, because it was his response when asked how he could be starting filming the following week when he was 88, how did he keep going? 'I don't let the old man in'. Like most C&W it's a bit mournful so I haven't included it but the quote above is from the lyrics.

I can't remember when I last did a cartwheel and I'm pretty damned sure I really can't. But just because now when you party like a rockstar it takes a few days to recover doesn't mean you never party again, right? Don't let the old bugger spoil everything that makes life sweet.

For a while CS was a haven for those who escaped the dreary world to laugh, gossip, squabble and flirt. Then we let the old man in. (No, I am not pointing a finger at anyone in particular. I am saying we let in bigotry and offensiveness and let them hold the floor, existing members as much as new ones have let the old man in)

TODAY - don't let him in. And if that feels good, tomorrow too. yay cartwheel

Loving one's self

I just had a thought while driving in the car today.

I am currently chatting with and in the process of setting up a date with an ex-private dancer. I was asked, what do you like about me? After finding out she is just about done with her college to become a veterinary assistant, I told her that I liked that she was doing something in her life to make herself proud and to love herself.

This got me thinking. I have heard so many times how women can never be happy or you can never please a woman. Lets say a woman is in a relationship with you and she cooks, cleans, pleases you in the sack....etc....what does she really have to be happy with? Yes, some women are happy in relationships like this but some others are not.

It is thought that happiness comes from within. Maybe these women that are thought to of being difficult to please or difficult to make happy, feel they have not accomplished much in life for themselves? Of course, this could go for a man also.

Moral of the story....try to avoid getting into a relationship unless you genuinely feel love or liking for yourself. In addition, a person looking to get into a relationship with another should determine if that person is genuinely happy with themselves.

Just a random thought I had today.

Accept negative outcomes in your life....learn from them....appreciate what you have....and build on that. :)

Winter walkies

In summer I come home, put down my handbag, change my shoes, pick up the lead, and we’re off. One minute.

In winter I come home, put down my handbag, change my shoes for acrylic-fur-lined gumboots, put on my heavy walking jersey with acrylic fur lining and fur-lined hood, get the dog’s coat, feed her into that while she wriggles and hops from foot to foot with impatience, put on my greatcoat, find my gloves, pick up the lead, and we’re off. Ten minutes.

Three degrees C today in my corner of Scotland. What YOU wearing?

Just as a break from the weather, I offer the whether ... because it's November 8th and there's an election going on, there are some political jokes on the second page, where they can only offend someone who goes looking to be offended. grin

They're pretty good, actually. I thought.

Young kids nowadays

can identify any number of corporate logos

cannot identify leaves from trees in their own garden

Of course their future progress will depend more on knowing where to go to buy what, than on knowing an oak leaf from a maple one dunno

I horrified a pupil today by saying milk came from cows. Ew, she said, no, it comes from bottles. Yersssssssss but ...

Anyone here ever milked a cow, even once
Lifted a hen to take an egg from her nest
Dug up potatoes
Said boo to a goose with its wings out and neck outstretched as it rushed up hissing rolling on the floor laughing

I know lots and lots of us have groomed horses hug
