My Progression

When I first joined CS it was because of the forum. Then I started getting interested in the blogs. Now I’ve started dabbling in the poetry section, which has come as a bit of a surprise to me because, in all my 63 years of being on this planet, I’ve never had the slightest interest in poetry. I put this wandering about down to my restless nature, but now I’m starting to get worried. When I become bored with the poetry, it seems the only place left to move onto is the recipe section.

The god of Christmas shopping

A speaker invited to a school to talk about the meaning of Christmas instead went rogue and told the kids – some as young as 4 – that Santa doesn’t exist and then handed out chocolate Santas for them to smash up.

wow

Parents have rushed to assure their shattered kids that the nasty crazy Christian was lying and Santa DOES exist and is the reason for Christmas.

Yikes, how embarrassing it would be to admit the pile of prezzies came out of hard-earned cash (or credit card debt) from Mommy and / or Daddy and aren’t freebies from an elf-factory at the North pole!

How much of your Christmas this year depends on the existence of Santa, a commercial entity created to build greed in children, guilt in parents, AND teach us to lie through our teeth to our young to protect a consumer icon?

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE AN ANGRY BLOG AND PLEASE, IT IS NOT RELIGIOUS. This is SANTA talk, okay? rolling on the floor laughing The question, if any, is how big a role does the god of Christmas shopping have in your Christmas, and has anyone noticed a difference from childhood to now in the size of his role?

Under Achiever

At school my teachers thought I would never amount to anything. I haven’t seen any of them since I left so they probably don’t know how accurate their predictions were. None of my achievements in life have been more than minor. This has, from time to time, caused me anxiety and dissatisfaction, but not anymore. I’ve found that since I’ve been living on my own I no longer care about achievement, or lack of it. A bit more money would be nice, but it wouldn’t take much more to spare me the usual end of the month juggling.

This made me wonder how many of the ambitions we have are for the sake of other people.

Reflections Of My life

I have done a lot of thinking of late. Thinking about what might have been, what could have been, what has been and what has not been. For some things there is still time while for others, I fear, it is too late. Mercifully those are few. I have done most of what I wanted to do. Yes, I had my ups and my downs but the average line was always above the line.wine

Regrets there are only a few too. There are a few things that I should have done differently, but I’m happy with my life as it is.applause

Maybe it is because I never had any unrealistic dreams. I was often accused of having no ambition and that I don’t fulfill my potential but I’d rather build on what I am than to chase unreachable goals. I was blessed with so many talents. Some said I must become a writer and other said I must become an artist. My parents wanted me to become a preacher. Everybody had different plans for me. I disappointed them all and I’m not apologizing for that. I did what I wanted to do.tongue

I have always been the champion of the underdog. Somebody once said it is because I’m a loser. Yet I never felt like a loser. I’d rather help the loser back to his feet before I cheer the winner. There is no disgrace in losing. I’d rather lose fairly than win by cheating. Such would be a hollow victory. You cannot bullshit yourself. If somebody defeats me by cheating I feel great because that is an admission by him that I’m better, stronger or smarter than him. Why else would he cheat?confused

More than all, I’m at peace with myself and I bear no grudges. I may retaliate when somebody does me wrong but I forget about it as soon as now. I cut my losses and get on with my life. I don’t hate anybody or anything; hate consumes you until you are just an empty shell. If somebody wants to hate me, it is his unhappiness. It cannot interfere with mine.yay

Yes, there are still a few things I still plan to do. And I’ll do it for they are all reachable. I’m not going to start chasing the end of the rainbow now. Achieving a goal has always been an anticlimax to me. The process of getting there is what brings me satisfaction.thumbs up

Jack Daniels

Good morning guys.

Last night, I have to admit, I was a little down. I needed something to make me get through the night. Without moping, without being more miserable like over run by a train. Beaten and tired.

So...guess what I did.

I seeked the company of Jack Daniels.

Now I don't drink. I can't. I take a little sip, whether it's wine or any alcohol and I become very weak. The world is like a spinning ball.

But last night I made an exception and went ahead and treated myself special for the moment. All alone. Drinking.

Well I feel better. Sure I made a fool of myself by writing self inflicting memoir, but I survived. The mods must have known, I needed that cathartic encounter.

I figured our world is so volatile. It might just end before we know it.

Bottom line? I woke up feeling good.

So good morning fellow citizens of the blog world.

Come and join me in my high and positive spirits.

Thank you all for your comnents, opinions, telling me I'm right, most of the times wrong.

Thank you all.

Dying Breed

It won’t happen in our lifetimes but I find it interesting that the racial category I will call Anglo for purposes of this blog will, in a few hundred years, be statistically extinct.

It is already incredibly challenging to find population percentages for the race that combined the Celts, Saxons, Vikings, Romans and Normans to produce the Anglos – that ever-bubbling melting pot of people who played a huge role in world history because of their insatiable desire to travel to other parts of the world, meet new people and, usually, try to convert, kill, or enslave them.

Those stroppy islanders had particularly significant impact in North America, Australia, and large swathes of Africa (usually butting heads with pesky Europeans in territory disputes along the way) but now we are ourselves vanishing into the melting pots of the world – we have close to negative population growth, and the majority of those producing busily on these shores are immigrant populations or mixed.

What, you read this far? Have a coffee! coffee there are comments coming up with more fascinating statistics for you. It’s like a school day. Yay!

I'm particularly interested to see how many have a kneejerk reaction that this is a racist blog. It isn't. It is simply about a race of people who affected the world. Most of them happened to be a whiter shade of pale, falling into a much bigger demographic (see comments)

The song is completely irrelevant, apart from the title. Not a bad song, though.

Would you relocate?

I've been on CS for around a year now. The reason I'm here is that I want to meet English speaking people.
Living in Spain and in the area I do, there aren't many around. I know that in Spain there are quite a few and its been easy to talk to them on here. I also have been chatting with people in other countries. If I did fall in love, I wouldn't mind relocating to another country.

How many of you would relocate for love?
You really think its possible to find and fall in love on CS?

now what do men want?

Should she be more understanding of our imperfect qualities.

Should she accept that we may not have the biggest c*ck in the world?

Should she be fine that the neighbor has better looking abs than us?

Should she be okay with talking with her friends knowing they live a better life than her because her husband is a poor bastard?

Should she understand that men are visual creatures and provide him with things he yearns for instead of using it as bribery or just outright teasing him with no intentions on giving?

Should she be smiling when we busted our asses all of our lives when we come home from work and we are probably going to live a shorter lifespan because of it?

or

Should we just accept that this is a woman's world and us men must remain on the chain?

Did I miss anything?

Do you know you?

I mean, how could you really?

The typical American has an 8 hour a day job and sleeps 8 hours a day. That is 16 hours, leaving 8 hours a day for you to be you.

Okay, to bath and eat in a day most likely takes an hour.

So now down to 7 hours in a day for you to be you.

Typically, there are home chores work to take care of, organizing, repairing, cleaning, taking the garbage out...even with a spouse at home...there is usually something or the other person to take care of. Let us guess another hour for the odds and ends things.

Now we are down to 6 hours in a day.

I am not sure how long the average American spends watching television...is it 2 hours a day or 4? Okay, I am going to consider it 3 hours...watching mindless crap and not allowing us to explore who we really are.

Now at this time we are down to 3 hours a day.

Do you chat with friends and family a bit during your day? Do you go to the bar and have a couple of beers? Do you have to run to the store for some groceries? What other loose ends need to be done? People are usually busy doing something it seems. Okay, let us consider this part of the day an hour.

Now, there are just 2 hours left in the day for you to be you.

How many people even contemplate a bit of who they are...and then put it into practice?
Many people allow their jobs to define who they are. But, are they really that person? Didn't a company just define who you are and not yourself?

What about children...do you have any...does that not take up any part of your time?

Who are you?

Sheep?

Nobody?

Do you know?

hmmm
