Well... What shall we say to these things?... too cute, but dangerous and serious... I wonder who made these cupcakes? dunno confused...any ideas?

Police say dogs seeking cupcakes caused small stove fire

ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — Police say dogs trying to get at a box of cupcakes left on top of a stove apparently started a small fire in a central Pennsylvania home.

The landlord tells police in Logan Township that he stopped by his tenants' home to let out the dogs about 8 p.m. Sunday.
That's when the landlord saw a small stove top fire and called firefighters.

Police say it appears the dogs were trying to get into the cupcakes and not only knocked off the stove's control knobs, they also turned on the stove, causing the fire.
The fire has been ruled accidental. Nobody was hurt.
Logan Township is near Altoona, about 85 miles east of Pittsburgh.

2007 - March 22, 2015

He belonged to one of my girl friends. We parted. She left here, but left this little guy behind.

He was so timid and so small compared to the others. One of my other Tom cats would, if no one was watching or listening, beat him up often the first few months. I sometimes hated going to work in the morning because I knew I would find tufts of fur or even drops of blood somewhere that evening. Sometimes I would just lock him in a room where he could be safe, but then that door started showing scratches where he would try to get out and the other one would try to get in. Eventually they worked out a territory arrangement. The other Tom he had no problems with.

This little guy was both lonely without mommy and super friendly too. You could pick him up by his ears or hold him upside down, either way he would just purr and purr and make no effort to escape. He just wanted to be touched and held. He would come running to me whenever I was around. No one bothered him if I was around. He spent many days slleping on my feet or my lap or just alongside me on the couch, always purring about it for hours.

Last week during a bath I noticed he seemed to be having difficulty breathing and his ribs were bony but his belly seemed swollen. No change in appetite however and he always ate a lot. Often the first one there if the mircowave bell rang or a can was being opened.

Although I had seen him out and about on Saturday, this (Saturday) evening he did not show up for dinner. Upon looking for him I found him under my bed semi conscious and in convulsions.

I have seen this before in both cats and dogs. Abdominal cancer, final hours.

Little Watson crossed over the Rainbow Bridge at about 1am on Sunday, March 22, 2015. Although he was only in my house for two years and I only knew him for three, I will miss him enormously.

old dog vestibular disease

Wednesday she was fine - she's old, a little wobblier in the mornings than in years of yore, but lively, greedy, healthy.

Yesterday morning very wobbly, fell over climbing over doorstep, and twice on her walk when switching direction to check out a scent. Eating normally, drinking well, adapted to using both back legs together to hop up steps.

Today, unable to walk in a straight line, falling over constantly, she was throwing up clear fluid during the night, and, first time in her entire life, unable to eat this morning. She still wanted her walk but even though it was a short one, she was trailing behind me by the time we got back instead of enthusiastically at point.

Poison? Stroke? Or - looked up the symptoms - vestibular disease?

She hates vets with a passion. I won't subject her to a barrage of tests and I won't leave her there - she is a rescue dog, and can't even be left in kennels without stressing, in my days of travelling I finally had to have a house sitter as she refused food, lost fur, and turned overnight into a basket case, even in the nicest kennels you can imagine. From everything I can find on line, vets will want to do tests and most will want to keep her in. My problem is that my Spanish is exceedingly basic and all I want is - what? anti-inflammatory? antibiotic? If they refuse, then she must be put down.

If anyone here knows anything about this condition, I'd really appreciate feedback. I can't take her anywhere until after my classes today so I have until this afternoon. She finally accepted a little handfeeding, drank some water, weaved off to bed and is sleeping. She's not distressed, just puzzled.

Updated: thanks to all who commented, took her to the vet in the afternoon of the blog, blood test confirmed the middle ear infection (idiopathic canine vestibular syndrome, to give it another of its names) she is taking antibiotics, corticosteroids (for 3 days only), anti-nausea tabs, and improving, she should be back to her cantankerous self within the week and on this morning's wobbly walk tried to hurl herself at a scooter - fell over, but at least she tried, which is a very good sign laugh

Aren’t They Cute?

When scientists sequenced the chimp genome in 2005, it confirmed that chimpanzees are our closest living relatives. Of course, they’re cute; they look like us. They have big ears like the Europeans, long toes like the English, a bad accent like the French, small noses like the Africans, short legs like the Japanese, large testicles like the Russians, small dícks like the Australians and an IQ to match the Americans. laugh

These clever animals can be taught to use tools to build their own shelters and we like to think of them as cute and huggable but those who think they are peace-loving creatures will have another think coming. mumbling

The truth is that they are cruel and aggressive fighters that form gangs to plunder neighboring tribes in search of food, females and/or territory, leaving behind only devastation and maimed opponents. Any infant chimps taken with their mothers during such a raid are simply killed and sometimes eaten. shock

It is estimated that as much as 50% of all male chimpanzees are being hunted down by other males and killed. And they do not only fight neighboring tribes, they also form factions within their own tribe and kill one another. Such killings normally happen to settle leadership and/or mating rights. dancing

When we compare chimpanzee behavior with human behavior it is easy to believe that chimpanzees share more than 98% of their DNA with us. And it is even easier to see where our willingness to kill and to wage war comes from.mumbling
