9 things people want most in life

There are nine things people want most in life — forget everything else:
1. To be loved
Love can be abstract and it can be concrete. It can be the act of snuggling. Saying the words “I love you.” Or not saying the words but knowing they’re felt. It’s about showing up and comforting people. Or allowing them to help us.
But even when we have loving relationships, we can get so familiar with it that we forget to notice. Allow for some enchantment and fondness. What’s small can still matter.
2. To be understood
When people’s opinions of us clash with how we want to be seen, we feel alienated and isolated. But to be understood by others, we must first understand ourselves.
Think of your signature, the mark that makes you who you are, both internally and what you show the world. Wherever you go, whatever you do, there’s a thread of continuity.
Never stop thinking about what it means to be you. It’s a lifelong pursuit.
3. To have power
There are times when the desire for power is beautiful and life enhancing. But when our longing for power is an attempt to compensate for a lifelong deficit, we can zigzag between swelling visions of glory and crashing despair.
Embrace flexibility and moderation. Power isn’t about control over others; it is about authenticity and authority. Stepping into your power can be your way of claiming adulthood and taking responsibility for your choices.
4. To have (and give) attention
“I haven’t looked into my children’s eyes for a very, very long time,” one person confided to me at a moment of deep discovery. “I’ve been so angry at life, I forgot to notice this beautiful creature I created.”
More and more, noticing her children helped her feel less wounded. Attending to them in a deep, attuned way healed something for her. By really seeing, she felt less deprived.
To feel more fulfilled, make a point of concentrating on an activity or topic that matters to someone you love.
5. To have freedom
For a teenager, freedom might mean not having a curfew. For an adult, it might mean setting your own work hours.
Ask yourself what kind of freedom you want. The freedom we pursued when we were 20 isn’t necessarily the same freedom that’s available at 60. Adjust the terms and conditions of your commitments.
6. To create
If you insist, you can have creative moments every day just by observing and being curious.
Express yourself imperfectly. Change your point of view about an issue. Take in something new and let out something personal. Experience something fresh.
7. To belong
At times, you might feel alienated and at odds. But if you can feel comfortable in being all that you are, you can experience not belonging with more ease, even with delight at times.
It’s about being secure in all that you are, even the awkward, clumsy, oddball moments — especially those moments! If you’re just trying to fit in, you will miss out on truly belonging.
8. To win
?I’m delighted with myself. I did brilliantly. Well done, me. I see that I’m skilled at doing this, and I have done an excellent job,” a 55-year-old once said to me. “This feels like a win.”
Consider what “winning” means to you. The definition changes and the rules vary. Honor your successes, however small.
9. To connect
If you’re carrying trauma, shame or a source of pain, it takes courage to open up and be vulnerable with someone. But when you feel safe and comfortable, revealing something private can bring you to a place of acceptance.

God's Wife

Priceless!

God's Wife
IT WILL KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once
talked about a contest he was asked to judge.
The purpose of the contest

was to find the most caring child.

The winner was:

1. A four-year-old child, whose next door
neighbor was an elderly gentleman,

who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old
Gentleman's' yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his mother asked him what he had said

to the neighbor, the little boy just said,

'Nothing, I just Helped him cry.'

2. Teacher Debbie Moon's first graders were
discussing a picture of a family. One little boy

in the picture had a different hair color

than the other members. One of her
students suggested that he was adopted.
A little girl said, 'I know all about
Adoption, I was adopted..'

'What does it mean to be adopted?',

asked another child.

'It means', said the girl, 'that you grew
in your mommy's heart instead of her tummy!'

3. On my way home one day, I stopped to
watch a Little League baseball game that was

being played in a park near my home.

As Isatdown behind the bench on the first-
base line, I asked one of the boys what the score

was? 'We're behind 14 to nothing,'

he answered with a smile.

'Really,' I said. 'I have to say you
don't look very discouraged.'

'Discouraged?', the boy asked with a
Puzzled look on his face...

'Why should we be discouraged?

We haven't been up to bat yet.'

4. Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot
in life, I stop and think about little Jamie Scott.

Jamie was trying out for a part in the
school play. His mother told me that

he'd set his heart on being in it,

though she feared he would not be chosen..

On the day the parts were awarded, I went
with her to collect him after school

Jamie rushed up to her,
eyes shining with pride and excitement..

'Guess what, Mom,' he shouted,

and then said those words that will remain a lesson to
me...'I've been chosen to clap and cheer.'

5. An eye witness account from New York
City , on a cold day in December,
some years ago: A little boy,
about 10-years-old, was standing before

a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted,

peering through the window, and shivering
With cold.

A lady approached the young boy and said,
'My, but you're in such deep thought staring in that window!'

'I was asking God to give me a pair of
shoes,' was the boy's reply.

The lady took him by the hand, went into the store,

and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks
for the boy. She then asked if he could give her

a basin of water and a towel.

He quickly brought them to her.

She took the little fellow to the back
part of the store and, removing her gloves,

knelt down, washed his little feet,

and dried them with the towel.

By this time, the clerk had returned with the socks..

Placing a pair upon the boy's feet, she purchased him
a pair of shoes..

She tied up the remaining pairs of socks
and gave them to him.. She patted him on the head

and said, 'No doubt, you will be more comfortable now..'

As she turned to go, the astonished kid
caught her by the hand, and looking up into her face,

with tears in his eyes, asked her:

'Are you God's wife?'

Paper People...

It's been referenced on CS and other places that those of us who grew up using a pencil and paper have a higher rate to remember/retain things we've read on paper than on a computer screen, cellphone or tablet.

If I receive an email with a list of customer requests, it's faster to print it and monitor what needs to be done on paper instead or doing it electronically.

We (the company I'm working for) tried to convert all our schedules and service notes to computer via apps that use 'cloud based' storage including one where the field technicians upload reports to a service monitoring system and any of us in the office can read & respond.
I'll say it's good that nothing gets lost as far as tracking and scheduling, but all of us who have multiple items on a list prefer to print the list and make notes that are too time consuming to attempt electronically.

Part of my job is to review shop drawings that are created electronically. I'm 50/50 doing it on a screen versus paper... however, if I want to retain information about a job, I'll print a copy and review it.

That would make me a Paper Person...

Thanks for reading my blog!

Poverty and the Catholic church

Recently I saw that the President of the Philippines..Roddy rodrigo wants to provide free contraception to over 8 million poor people, but the Catholic church wants to prevent this, and also abortion.

103 million people live in the islands of the Philippines, and id hazard a guess some 80million are living in poverty.. I've seen for myself the way these people live and how many kids they churn out.

The Catholic church has a lot to answer for with not allowing contraception in Africa where Aids has spread like wild fire, its not all their fault but they have contributed.

You cannot keep having kids, with no job and no education, bringing a life into this world because your Church says its ok to have as many kids as you want, who's going to feed them ?..not the church..doh

Teenage pregnancies in the far east has increased due to lack of education, and contraception..Women in their 30s having 10 kids look like they are in their 50's..washing clothes all day in the streams, cooking.

blogs

The first thing that I look for now on blogs is the ability to inter react with the writer.
If I find that it is not open to responses, I just don't won't bother to read it or look at
whatever is posted.
If it's not a conversation, then I am not engaged.
It's a pity, because some people have some great ideas and subject matter that I
would love to discuss
I wonder how many people feel the same way and respond in a similar fashion? Many
I bet.

It's just a waste of time......IMHO

dunno

Why do have to shout at each other?.....

Isn't it strange? why shout??....Asked yourself this!..Why do we shout in anger? Why do people shout at each other when they are upset? "But why shout when the other person is just next to you? "Isn't it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice? Why do we shout at a person when we are angry?..The explanation is this: "When two people are angry at each other their hearts...psychologically distance them selves to cover the distance, they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will shout to each other through that great distance."Now asked yourself this? What happens when two people fall in love? they don't shout at each other, but talk softly, why? Because their hearts are psychologically very close. The distance between them is very small, and to continued, when they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak, only whisper and they even get closer to each other and that's all...So next time you shout to a loved one, know that you are creating distance between your heart and that person's heart,a gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stirs up anger. This is very TRUE. Let's start to practice not to shout, and to remember besides shouting drains you so much when you start shouting at each other...I sincerely believe that people should really start to practice this, to create a better society with discipline in all nations.. handshake
