What is Thought?

In a recent blog, someone wrote:

“The realm of consciousness is much vaster than thought can grasp”.

I asked the question: “What is thought?” and was told:
“don't change the subject matter”

What are your views?

What is consciousness?
What is thought?
Can one exist without the other?
What, if any, is the relationship between them?
What is meditation in this context?

All comments welcome!

In case you were wondering

Silly screen names are not unusual here, but here's the inspiration for mine.

Pyramidal in construction, Hoober Stand is roughly
30m (100ft) high and almost devoid of architectural
ornamentation on its exterior, the true dignity of 18th
century craftsmanship being preserved for the interior.
The walls ascend perpendicularly for around 4.5m
thereafter tapering inwards, a shape which has been
interpreted by some to represent England, Ireland and
Scotland preserved under one crown. The optical illusion
created by this form of construction gives the impression
that the building is leaning, and although the cupola is
situated over the centre of the tower, it’s position seems
to move from side to side as the visitor’s angle of approach
changes.

I Heard The News Today, Oy Vey!

I was going to read some news...you know, from sites that supply news. I'm not sure they actually exist without some sort of click bait anymore, but I trudge on, day after day.

The news has it's good and bad days. Some days I like bad news. The news is sometimes lame. Uninteresting. Lackluster. Some days I want that.

The news can stretch the truth. The news can sometimes steal other news and call it theirs. The news is sometimes parading around as fact when it's actually the opinion of blathering dullards.

Some days I wonder why I bother to read the news at all....

When it's all here on CS!

Thank you Connecting Singles for your continued quality and excellence as a news....um fake New....uh

Due Process Of Law

What is this country of America coming to? Are we to allow someone to be tried and judged and punished without due process of Law? Whether you like Donald Trump or don't like him he deserves Due Process
Bu the states of Maine and Colorado have tried and convicted him without due process of the Law
Even the worst criminal we have ever seen or the worst criminal to come that is obviously guilty without a doubt
is always afforded an attorney and a trial by judge or jury.
If this situation is to stand without push back with the law behind it this United States is on it's way to hell
If it is not there already
Who can stand against what I have just said? If you are against what I have said you are filled with hate

English speakers:

Medical studies have made an important breakthrough after some international research.

Orientals eat very little fat, and suffer fewer heart-attacks than the English-speaking races

The French eat a lot of fat, and suffer fewer heart-attacks than the English-speaking races

The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart-attacks than the English-speaking races

Germans drink a lot of beer, eat a lot of fatty sausages, and suffer fewer heart-attacks than the English-speaking races

The conclusion is obvious. Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is what kills you.

Bayer AG bids 62 billion for Monsanto....

Monsanto, is a US company that is big in crop pesticides and GMO seeds. Europe has done so well without GMO and pesticides. This can not be good....I can't chat about it, but will come back later........Oh, Bayer AG is a German Company......

I wish

I wish I loved the Human Race;
I wish I loved its silly face;
I wish I liked the way it walks;
I wish I liked the way it talks;
And when I'm introduced to one,
I wish I thought "What Jolly Fun!"

No, not my own, I can't write poetry. Funny thing, when I tripped over that quote (part of research for the TEFL course I'm doing) I assumed it was written by Ogden Nash or similar. No - Sir Walter Raleigh. Him what brought potatoes and tobacco to the emerging first world, if I remember rightly. bowing smoking

Probably wrote it after he put his cloak in the mud for Queen Elizabeth (first one) to walk on, and she didn't thank him, or something.

So people have been getting pissed off with the human race for at least 500 years, since he died in 1618. For some reason that makes me feel better about being snippy at times. I'm in good company grin

How do you see everyone on CS ...

"Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers," sees the contestants separated into three tribes based on how they are perceived by others...

Putting aside any bias, rivalry or petty disagreements how do you see others on CS?

What category would you put yourself in ?
