Ethical Shopping

I like avocados, I put them in salads. The trouble is; they are quite expensive and I find that about one in six of the ones I buy is black and mushy, inside. I do examine them thoroughly before I pop them into my trolly but, as yet, haven’t managed to find a way of accurately predicting their internal condition.

I don’t doubt for a minute that the store would immediately replace any inedible ones, with no questions asked, but it’s a fifteen minute drive each way and it really doesn’t seem worth the bother, and I really don’t want to hang on to mangy avocados until the next time I go shopping.

I do my shopping by the scan as you go method, so when I get to the checkout everything is already in my bags and all I have to do is pay for it. This means I only pay for what I have scanned. So, to come to the point, I’ve been wondering if it would be morally acceptable to not scan every sixth avocado that I put in my shopping. I’m sure the store’s position on this would be, no, definitely not, but they would be looking at the situation from an entirely different point of view to me. If they were to allow the practice, everyone would be not scanning half of their shopping on the grounds that there is always a possibility that something might not be up to standard.

My solution to our differing perspectives and the store’s argument against my proposal would be to not tell the store I was doing it. From both a philosophical and practical standpoint, this seems the optimal strategy. My problem would be solved and, by maintaining secrecy, no one else would be encouraged to do the same thing.

I do, of course, realise that a good deal of caution will be necessary in the execution of my plan, as the police tend not to be very imaginative regarding the distinction between creative problem solving and shoplifting.

Trump Haters

In my quest to try and understand the haters mind, I came across this article.

Why They Hate Trump

By Jeffrey Folks

Simply put, they hate Trump because he represents ordinary Americans — those who are not part of the political and corporate elite, who lack the advantages and connections of the Deep State, who are not media, academics, or celebs.  President Trump puts ordinary Americans first, and it drives the elite nuts.

The elite have spent so many years enjoying their advantages, including the psychological advantage of despising ordinary people, that they panicked when someone tried to take it all away from them.  They can't go on living without that warm, reassuring sense of superiority.

Contempt for average Americans was palpable in Hillary Clinton, which is why she lost the election of 2016.  It was just too obvious.  Joe Biden conceals it somewhat better, or perhaps he just cares more for other advantages of office — for both himself and family members.  Either way, he is taking advantage of ordinary people.

What really upset the elite was that average Americans were beginning to believe in themselves.  Their wages were rising for the first time in decades, and they felt proud to be restoring America to what it could be.  If Biden wins, that will be lost.  The everyday American can crawl back to his cell and watch the country stagnate for another four or eight years.

What if the deplorables — the guy who delivers the bread to your supermarket, the woman caring for three children at home, the insurance salesman, the Target checkout clerk — were actually smarter than the Washington types, smarter than you in the universities and the media?  For the elite, it would mean that the world had been turned upside-down.

That's exactly what President Trump began to accomplish in four years.  For four years, those everyday Americans were treated like something special, listened to, moved to the front of the line.  Trump rallies were exciting because they were primarily a celebration of the rise of the real America — of those who get up five mornings a week to an alarm clock, start the car in the cold, drive to work in the dark, put in eight or ten hours, come back to football on TV in a two-bedroom apartment, bathe and sleep, and do it again and again.  On weekends, they coach and volunteer and attend church and care for family and neighbors.

This is a way of life that the Washington elite despise.  They prefer $300 restaurants, chauffeured limos, escort services funded by lobbyists, drugs and alcohol, junkets to exclusive resorts, secret bank accounts, and the status of high office.

The elite think they are so far above us, but they are not happier for it.  It's the parents in Oklahoma with their newborn child, the kid in Indiana receiving his first promotion, the grandparents in Florida living on not much more than Social Security but still giving of themselves — these are the great Americans who understand what President Trump is talking about, and they are the Americans he understands and respects.

Can you say Obama understood and respected these ordinary Americans?  Or the Clintons, or even the Bushes, with their New England heritage and Texas money?  Or Nixon, LBJ, or Kennedy with his serial adulteries?  Or Carter, with his twisted ideology of "save everyone in the world at the expense of the American middle class"?  Only Reagan and Trump put ordinary Americans first.

Now, unless the Supreme Court steps in, it's back to "normal."  Already the word has come down from Biden appointees — herd the riffraff back to their pens, tape their mouths, steal their votes, and strip them of their rights.  It's high times again in Washington.

Just a bit of fun !

Why does it not sit well if asked, What are you looking for and we say "A bit of fun" opposed to if we say a long term relationship. There is a wide range of things it can mean when saying "a bit of fun! I mean who comes on dating sites ruling out "A bit of fun" and while your profile says your looking for a long term relationship does this mean you can't have both in mind. How does someone look for a long term relationship ha ha keep searching it might be around somewhere. Isn't that why its called long term because it comes after, later and whilst it was the early days what is wrong with calling it just a bit of fun. your comments please ! cheers

Breaking news

my dishwasher seems to be having a sort of a fit. It spat the dummy (ok, the dishwashing tablet) and has rinsed everything rather than washing it and damn.

Listen, that has reminded me all over again, I really need about 5 men in my life. The one I need right NOW is the one handy around the house and appliances.

Make it so, CS. grin

relationships and our frustrations

Let's be honest here. Who doesn't want a perfect relationship? Meaning no fighting, bickering, complaining. Just sweet, joyful and lovely?

Is it possible? Of course not. In the real sense, once in a while, yes. But for as long as we're human living in an imperfect world with our flawed partners, chances are, there's more challenging and sometimes more difficult wringing of our nerves, poking our minds and hurting our hearts.

Relationship is a journey of constant testing. We're like creatures swimming in a pool of turbid water, searching for the clear path so the light can come in.

But that's the way it is, in our mission to find that light, we should keep our heads settled firmly above our shoulders and think of it as our way to live embracing every moment with gusto and enthusiasm, instead of bitterness and criticism.

It's our life. Only us can accept and or change. Blaming and pointing fingers will never improve nor enlighten us. If anything it will ruin us.

So before we say anything derogatory of hurtful, we must stop and hold it inside until we calm down.
Breath deep and picture our love towards each other like flowers blooming amidst the sun and rain. Which sometimes in a split second can be a matter of dark storms, brutal gales and killer typhoons. After which the sun comes back again, and again.

At the end of the day, there's us, together, living this difficult and challenging life. But on top of everything, it's a beautiful, interesting and wonderful life.

Wouldn't you agree? Grow up and face the music. Don't you ever tell me I'm complicated and a liar. In reality, we can all be, if we choose to. I don't.

Thanks all for your reads and comments.

Any man on this site could be getting as much as he can handle

And yes I’ll tell you how. I’m warning you right now it isn’t a two-minute click of the fingers, and you won’t end up with a drop-dead gorgeous Miss Universe unless you’re unexpectedly lucky, but you will get your bones bounced as often as you can handle.

This is a 10 step qualification to getting your wicked way, but if you’re only prepared to settle for Miss Universe, or you don’t really want to bounce anyone’s bones, no need to waste your precious time reading any further wave

The Honest Lecher qualification course is presented in ten lessons. Oh, and ladies, I am not teaching men to deceive you. I am teaching them to be honest and get what they want, and maybe it could be what you want too. If not, at least you will recognise an Honest Lecher when he is creeping up on you.
