Unfortunately this is a long documentary, so it's unlikely to be watched by those who have fully engaged with Trump's ethos.

It's very well presented, though.

Luck

This morning watched on the news how some people in Roquetas del Mar , a small town in the south of Spain had the luck in 2 weeks to win important prizes of Lotto. The first on the 22nd of Dec " loteria de Navidad" where each ticket was prized with 800 000 euros and on the 5th of Jan " loteria del niño" with 400 000 each one.
There was a woman who had bought both winning numbers and seems to have happened to a few more. To get the 1st prizes in such a short period of time is so rare. They are very lucky.
But this made me think, about how lucky some people are.
I dont consider myself unlucky but something like this has never happened to me.
Wouldnt it be nice to be thinking right now what I would do with 1.2 million euros

: good fortune : good luck

In which way would you like to have luck?

Man or woman

Is it easier being a woman or a man? Seems to me it's harder being a woman .we get the pleasure of a menstrual cycle ,child bearing and getting discriminated against.cant even take a car for repairs without getting overcharged

Why Doesn't Anybody Ever Help?

One of the main reasons why I started blogging, was to improve my English. Reading English is not enough. Sadly, my English did not improve in any significant way since starting to blog because nobody ever corrects my mistakes.blues

Ok, I know that you never start a sentence with certain words like ‘and’ & ‘but’. I purposely ignore that rule because I write as I speak. However, I have many other problems with my grammar and syntax. A good vocabulary and accurate spelling is not everything.dunno

I’m sure that I won’t bite if somebody helps me right in a nice way. Hans4711 once helped me right and he is still alive.laugh

I don't say that we must start an English teaching campaign, but I think there may be more people around who will appreciate a little nudging from time to time.idea

Many thanks to Zman for correcting the heading of my blog!thumbs up

Garden mayhem

Photos from my garden - I have no idea where to start. Or how.

Clearing the path so Postman Pat can get through would probably be best but help

I have almost exactly a month before the gala days start, and that means parades through the Scottish country towns, of which mine is one, and literally thousands of international visitors who have nothing better to do with their holidays than follow parades through Scottish country towns. It is quite a tourist attraction so gardens that look like jungles are frowned upon. The parade in my town doesn't just pass my garden - I am on the corner of the road the parade turns up. It will be sneered at by many, many, many people.

This is what happens when you spend too much time writing or chatting on CS scold okay and when it rains most weekends so you can't get out there ...

Postman is getting restless. Health & Safety is being mentioned in a grumbling undervoice.

Music to work to?

I like to have music in the background when I'm working but I get bored with the usuals. Anyone looked at the music offered for studying? Whale song, harp music, sea sounds - nope!

Very familiar music from seventies and eighties is distracting because it keeps jerking my memory back, not good.

Boring music makes me sleepy - not good.

Lively music makes me restless, I want to jump up and dance. Not good.

Any suggestions before I just switch off? It's so QUIET if I do! And I'm studying at the moment, a bit boring but I have to concentrate.

Housework music is so easy - driving anthems, the louder the better laugh

The huge advantage of choosing something I knew in the 70s and 80s is it wakes up my teenage brain (which is still fairly shiny and unused). Now if I can just get my inner teenager to settle down to some work ...

Perfecting CS

We seem to have temporarily(?) lost our comments count again.

If the Mods said 'okay smartiepants, you think you can do better?' and put you in charge, what changes would you make?

I know I would like the most current thread comments at the top of the list. When I'm looking for forums and threads to comment on, I like picking jumping ones.

Maybe there's a way of sorting them that way anyway? moping

And for sure if I was in charge I would insist charmers, flirts who never ever meet, players who meet-'n-cheat everyone they can, bounders, easy riders, and scammers were identified in a way that could be fed into a search filter. They all have a role to play, but wouldn't they be more fun if we knew? grin

An introduction to fracking

There's talk of fracking starting down the road, 5 miles from where I live, and I thought what the frack is fracking? Will I like it? So I looked it up.

Fracking is the process of drilling deep into the earth’s surface, then using high-impact liquid to fracture bedrock and bring gas or oil (or anything handy that we find while down there) to the surface.

Neat, tidy, no impact on the surrounding areas whatsoever, and relatively cheap. The US has done a lot of it, the UK wants to try too.roll eyes

So if I want to set up a little fracking in my back yard, here’s my shopping list:

Water. LOTS. Budget on a million gallons for a single well. Fortunately we’re a wet little island and unlikely to run out, but hey, we’re used to hosepipe bans in the summer anyway. So we can well spare the water.

Sand and chemicals to mix – approx. 40 000 gallons of chemicals for that million gallons. Lead, uranium, mercury, ethylene glycol, radium, methanol hydrochloric acid, formaldehyde. Oh, stop looking worried, they may be lethal but don’t worry, they are only released way, WAY below ground level, 10 thousand feet down, under high pressure.

True, the recovered waste fluid is left in open pits to evaporate into the atmosphere, but that’s only 30 to 50% of the fracking fluid anyway. Those who are pro fracking assure us that all the dangerous carcinogenic chemicals know to stay below ground and not come up to evaporate into our air. Just as well, don’t want those around. Bad enough that people have the nerve to smoke within 100 feet of you, risking your health and all.

The rest – 50 to 70% of a million gallons of water - stays below ground, and those chemicals are non-biodegradable. Still, 10 thousand feet down. Not our problem.

Oh, and there might, just might, be the occasional tremor or two. In 2011, energy company Cuadrilla suspended test fracking operations in Lancashire, after two earthquakes of 1.5 and 2.2 magnitude hit the area. However there is no conclusive proof that the high-pressure fracturing of bedrock had any link whatsoever to the tremors.

All in all, we should go for it. Win-win. No risk, no fuss, no mess, practically free for the taking, and what could possibly go wrong?

Excuse me, I have to go pack.

All About The Niqab

This is documentary is about the veil worn by women of the Muslim faith...not too long ago this woman called N.S. was asked to remove the niqab in court...even the Prime Minister became involved...does she have the right to practice face covering here in Canada when it comes to court proceeding and citizenship?...is this really about feminism...ensuring that women are equal and not subservient...or is it more about being fearful of Muslims since ISIS made its presence known...here is this young woman's perspective on it and the battle in court for her to continue wearing her niqab...
What are your thoughts?...
