Blog Commandments

The blogs seem to be dying, bloggers are disappearing, some of my thoughts on whats wrong and how we can revive this place.

Just a YouTube link is not a blog

A blog not allowing comments is not a blog it’s a statement

Self-pity and attention seeking is for a friend not a public blog

Posting multiple blogs at once is rude

Assuming you are correct and everyone else is wrong is embarrassing yourself

Putting pictures of your children with names and date of birth is fecking stupid

Use the spell checker if possible

Don’t overuse the emoticons, its childish, grow up and use words

Don’t write more than a paragraph, people won’t read diatribe

Remember that some people do not understand English including English speakers

Blogs should be fun and or informative

Politics and religion should really be on the forums, you will get an appropriate audience there

RIGHT TO REPLY

I have only been a member of this site for a week.

Already I have noticed that some people post on the Blogs then disable the ability to post comments. This prevents people from having a healthy debate about the subject matter.

How can we get a better understanding or an unblinkered view if we close ourselves off to other peoples opinions or genuine facts?

Why is there only a Like facility but no Dislike facility?

Am I the only one that feels this way?

how many knows the moral of this quote?

“The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained in sudden flight but, they while their companions slept, they were toiling upwards in the night.”

The art of blogging

I´ve been on the blogs for around a year, found them thanks to a person who told me to take a look and must say I do enjoy it.
There are all kinds of topics but my question is.. what makes you want to comment and what do you expect from the actual blogger when you comment?

What makes a successful blog?
As a blogger do you get upset if people don't comment on your blog?
I would love a tutorial on how to do interesting blogs, how do you find your ideas. There are a few bloggers I do admire and a few that I really enjoy how they comment.
So my questions are

For bloggers

a) How do you choose your topics?
b) Do you get upset if you don't get comments or views?

For comment posters

c) What motivates you to comment on a blog?
d) What do you expect from the blogger when you comment?

For everyone

e)Do you recomend the blogs to others CS users and why?

Playing The Victim...

to manipulate others.

We could be a victim in so many ways. Some were neglected by parents, betrayed by partners, let down by lovers, picked on at school or by friends, ripped off on a business deal, etc, etc.

Healthy people usually learn from those experiences, forgive and move on. Others re-victimize themselves to give themselves some comfort
wine drinking drinking sad flower

Control freaks love to play the victim, they try to control the person who hurt them as they owe them something and try to drain sympathy from people around them.

The person who play the victim is often times the real villain by portraying others as the demons and oppressorsdevil

Most of us have played the victims and not even aware about it. Whining and complaining about our children, jobs, partners, people around us, things we need to do etc…and having negative outlook in life. We can do something about these situations but we chose to stay and be a victim. People I know are doing this… I’m doing this too.doh doh

Real victims are those completely powerless and can’t do anything about it. They deserve sympathy…I’m not one of them.crying crying

Those who love to play the victim we should be wary of. They are manipulative and will do anything to be in control. It‘s tricky to recognize them … can leave you dumbfounded or worse.professor

Are you a "victim" too?bouquet

Would you like a cup of tea?

and would you let me watch you making it?

My office closed the other day and amongst the 'goodies' we shared out I got a large supply of office-type teabags. I decided to try making a cup of tea this morning.

It tasted fairly horrible. Is there a knack to making tea? Can anyone talk me through it? Yes yes add boiling water but - for how long? When does that soggy sad little lump get removed? Is a teapot better?

dunno

Origin of man, the truth

After a few minutes if in depth research the origin of modern man is clear, we have been lied to by fake history since history was invented.

My hypothesis is that an alien race visited our planet during the Neolithic era, The aliens were supposed to observe our cave men (and women) but a few had got the horn after watching the pure animal lust taking place in the caves and took advantage by basically raping our ancestors.

This was not a bad thing as we began to evolve, walk upright and talk using proper words, most of our body hair fell off and we began capturing wild grass’s to make healthy cereals and rice to accompany our curries. Caves were decorated with Xmas trees and we became quite nice for a while until part of our DNA (The wild and arrogant bit) took over and we became utter twats and quite nasty to each other.

All signs indicate that these alien rapists are returning soon, some say it’s to say sorry, some say it’s because human women are probably much better than the alien women, regardless of why they are returning, they are and we should really be on our best behavior when they do.

Should our Neanderthal ancestors have been left alone, or did the aliens do us a massive favor?

Coming or going?

Coming or going... this should be easy, but people usually get it wrong.
Is there a rule in English explaining this? I don't know.
but, I do know COME to or GO away.
I'm GOING to the movies tonight. Right?
We are GOING to the movies tonight. Right?

If I booked some service calls and the boss wants to know what is happening, I would be correct to say the serviceman is GOING to see Mrs. Smith at 2pm

I'm here and you are there. I invite you to my house and I say "Come over"
Let's say, you cannot go out and instead, invite me. You say "Come over."
In both cases the person is GOING to meet the other person.

Expecting you to COME to my house, I call and ask your whereabouts it's incorrect to say "I'm coming to your house" because (from your perspective) you are GOING to my house.

Coming or going... got it?

Next blog I think I'll address the abbreviated spelling of etcetera again.
