Happiness is bad

Happiness is bad!

An article I came across in the Internet and translated for you. Don't know the author, and this is not my opinion, but I agree with the advice given by the scholars: the more you think about being happy and such things the less happy you feel. Better think about how fortunate you are to have been brought here on earth as a rational human being capable of all earthly and unearthly feelings. This is happiness in a true sense! I am thankful to God for each and every day of seeing the beauties of His creation all around!!!

Broken And Beautiful

Perhaps, it is because of the experience of being broken by hurt, and the suffering that goes with it, in whatever area of life, that we are able to experience greater depths of happiness at a later time. Kahlil Gibran says: "The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain." Perhaps, it is within the very cracks of our brokenness that we can discover a new joy and beauty that we may not be able to experience if we were not cracked and broken. I wish to dedicate this piece to those who have experienced acute pain and suffering in their lives, whether in romantic love or otherwise. Remember the words of Kahlil Gibran!

The Artist

The Artist

A good friend asked me recently to teach her poetry. Rather she was serious or not I really didn't know what to say, so I quoted her something from Robert Frost which I also opened this verse with. Plutarch said " Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks " I dont consider myself a poet, just some guy who uses his pen as a paddle and the currents as my guide. What is poetry to you ?.. Cheers

Quintessence of Dust (Paloma's challenge)

It's good to see great challenges emerging again on the site. Well done Paloma! For those interested the title comes from a very famous speech by Hamlet where he is basically questioning the greatness but also the frailty of the human condition.

My enemy opened the doorway to heaven

My enemy opened the doorway to heaven...

Life is either hell or heaven for me, and, astoundingly, I discovered that I, decide moment to moment what my experience will be... For instance, the point was driven dramatically home to me, when, years ago, a defence attorney who was extremely

Thunder Of The Power

What many of you may not know is that I am also an ordained, non-denominational minister and was ordained in May 2008. :-) Recently I've suffered a broken toe, a rolled ankle, a sprained knee and a torn tendon in my right arm. I've got my toe and ankle in a medical boot and the knee in a brace at the moment. I just started physical therapy to help me walk again. Despite the pain and the "quitting is not an option" motto, faith has helped me get through. :-)

The term aesthetic arrest was first used by James Joyce in his book A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. The philosopher, historian and theologian Joseph Campbell, also a Joyce scholar, explained aesthetic arrest as,"A simple beholding of the object... you experience a radiance. You are held in aesthetic arrest. This radiance, the perception of beauty, is regarded as a communication of the hidden power behind the world, shining through some physical form."

SNOWFLAKES

I was looking at all the different snowflakes and how each one is different then the rest and how God created each one individually just like all his children of the world.

Maybe Im wrong

~Maybe I'm wrong~

At times of think of where we are going with technology at the helm, that we all subscribe too. As I see this the life I knew of good friends and good social has only a place to show in our wake. I may be wrong, yet I know I'm right.
