Barack Obama's Dad

He was born in Kenya
He went to Hawaii
He married a woman there
They had Barack Obama
His friends called him Barry
He left his wife
He left his son
He eventually went back to Kenya
He had eight children in total
With three different women
He was verbally abusive to his last wife and children
He drove drunk
He killed one man
He lost his legs and had metal legs
He died hitting a gum tree stump
While driving drunk
He has been dead for 20 years
Will his son get another four years in the White House?

About this poem:
I just got done watching 2016. I also read the book about Barack Obama. It reminds me of the George Carlin quote, "All the evil in the world, all the evil in the world is the result of what fathers do to their sons."

New Points of Failure

Take a bite from the apple, my dear.
The taste of knowledge will open up
for you a whole new world, you’ll see.
The juices will flow from lips down
your cheek as it searches out your soul.

Take a byte from the Apple, my dear.
Worlds will be conquered and compromised
as virtual realities surpass the tangible one
leaving you wanting for more, feeling less
numb from images, carpal tunneling home.

***

When are we able to understand this stuff?
you kindly ask with enlightened, digital pen.
Hopefully, the answer is, “Never”, my dear friend
for such knowledge comes as infliction’s twin
as those we love fall, though not from original sin.

Science searches answers, wonders does create
Each wonder-answer another question it does make
while these new questions rise to seal our future’s fate.
It’s not nice to mess with Mother Nature, 'tis said.
We won’t grasp the wisdom ‘til to death we're led.

reveal

To unravel your words
With a wisdom of ages
To interpret them
With the knowlege of sages
To fill my own reasoning
With thoughts that share
Are hand written words
That the soul did prepare
Many ways you can see
Many ways you can feel
The honesty of ink
Is the way to reveal...

Border Wars (A Kickit Challenge)

A thousand steps walking a crooked fence
Meanders across a craggy rock strewn field
This boundary only makes little sense
A clumsy border to keep one's eyes peeled

Tufts of grass ring the badly cratered ground
Jagged shards of twisted steel lie in rust
Only a monstrous waste of life be found
Threads in between the warring tribes of trust

If only glory could walk a fabled past
Across a barbed and razor sharpenned wire
Would anyone give hope for peace to last
A much better reason for a cease fire

When borders cease to create a barrier
Indeed the whole world becomes merrier

Inspired by Kickit's openning line...which happenned to be fortuitous
pentameter for my fav sonnet style....my poem envisions a disputed border fence as a symbol of mistrust....

An idle thought…

Today, during my meditation, I had a strange experience,
I noticed an idle thought dancing before me like a feminine roué,
Strange, I thought, I’m in my serious, delightful and rejuvenating daily meditation, so why this distraction?
After asking for The God-Force’s Love to protect me, I decided to follow this trite thought that dared disturb my ‘holy’ reverie…

The kernel of the thought was this:-
“My, my, why such struggle, why such effort to unite with the Divine?”
Yes, I know, this could be a dangerous and slippery road,
But, tired of the ‘faking-it-till-you-make-it’ philosophy, I decided to follow…

“So, you think that wanting to unite with the Divine is not worth the proverbial ‘blood, sweat and tears…’, I ventured?
“I did not say that,” countered the thought, “…all things are necessary in their season…, and, after all, you’re paying attention to me, not me to you. So, why are you following me?”
“Don’t really know”, says I, “…but I feel a little brave and I am protected by the Infinite’s Love…”
“Good,” says the thought, “…come with me then…”

The thought then led me to Ecclesiastes 3:
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it; He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end; I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life; And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.”

Wow! It always fills me with tremendous awe to be reminded of those ‘holy’ words,
But, what message is there in them for me today?
[End the struggle dear friend, end the ‘efforting’, its not necessary. The God-Force knows you! It is within you, it is around you, it flows through you. It knows your wants, desires, aspirations. In fact, its always paying attention to your every thought, rooting for you, loving you endlessly, guiding you like a caring Mother its young… What is necessary is to relax and to trust and to always but always follow LOVE! One can seldom, then go down the wrong path! Yes, act when you must, refrain when you must, yes, contemplate when you must, refrain when you must, yes, love when you must, but, never refrain from loving! ]

Miracles...

Expect a miracle today, and I guarantee you’ll see one,
Kinesiologists teach us that of the 65,000 thoughts we have per day, its only about 7 high-vibration/loving thoughts that counter-balance the other 64,993 low-vibration/negative thoughts and keep us from obliterating ourselves off the planet,
This is power!!!
My research and experience corroborates this,
I’ve lost count of how many times people walk into my therapy room distraught and just even one positive thought causes them to find their equilibrium...
[What do I say to them? Expect a miracle today..., please we’re not defining miracle to mean only occurrences like parting the proverbial Red Sea, no, a smile on a previously anxious face is miracle enough for me... ]
Crime in Washington D.C. was dramatically reduced during the few days an actual experiment was done whereby a number of people focused on loving thoughts for a portion of the day,
This experiment has been repeated in other parts of the world with similar success...

The last few days have seen massive amounts of stress come my way,
Yet, by focussing repeatedly on the expectation of miracles, the miracles have come, and the stress has receded,
This got me thinking,
Why am I merely looking for miracles,
Why don’t I see miracles in everyone and everything?
Wow!!!
This technique took me to another level,
Now, I realize that my every breath is a miracle,
Every ‘hateful’ and ‘angry’ persona that comes to me is a miracle, if only I focus on their spirit, rather than on their form,
Even suicidal people made the decision to give life one more try after allowing just one loving thought to splash their weary brains,
[A major in the South African Police Force taught me a brilliant line to use on suicides, many, many years ago, it still works with reverberating success, it goes like this:
Say, come down off the ledge and talk with me,
If you’re not helped by what I have to say, you can always jump tomorrow,
but if you jump now, its all finished...]
Yes, I know, believe me, its a lot easier said than done,
But, it works, every time...

I dare to ask,
What if we consciously had 14 loving thoughts, or 28, or 56...???
Could we, like Walt Disney go from a mouse-infested garage to Disneyland?
Why not?
Could we heal cancer?
Why not?
Could we heal a broken heart?
Why not?
Could we place serenity on the face of someone who recently lost a loved one?
Why not?
I see these miracles all the time, not only in my life, but all around me as well...

Keep parting that Red Sea, will ya?

WHY II

Why must it be impossible to get along
men were created equal is way wrong
Why can't all act civil like they should
doing bad isn't suppose to end good

Why is 'Truth' arduous for many to handle
'telling it like it is' results in scandal
Why does 'just a minute' always last a while
'give an inch' doesn't mean take a mile

Why do convicted murderers ever get set free
Left and Right only care about their prosperity
Why won't blacks stop the 'America owes them'
chances of that happening are rarer than slim

Why do some consciously Mar their Ear Lobes
hospitals could provide less revealing Robes
Why couldn't we pass away humanely in our sleep
everything you sow you're not guaranteed to reap

Why do humans put faith in what isn't proven real
in every capacity humanity got dealt a raw deal

Psychology

Psychology can mislead you,
Make you sometimes read too much.
Often just taking face value,
Can be read simply as such.

I am not that complicated,
Although women think me so.
What I say is simply stated,
I'm just telling what I know.

An inflection or expression,
May be only random chance,
And can give a wrong impression,
Though it's only happenstance.

So please hear what I am saying,
Just my words and what they mean,
And don't try to insert meaning.
My lines have no inbetween.

Manure, etc.,

I am often plagued by a very existential question:
Am I doing what I should be doing, or have I been led astray from my destiny?
Don’t laugh, things like that bother some of us…,
Am I living in the right place,
Am I in the right profession?
Am I with the right person?
Am I?
Etc., etc. …

A couple of years ago, I came across a gem of a philosophy that helps me a lot with this quandary:-
Whatever presents itself in front of you right now,
This is your destiny now,
Do that now…

Wow!
At first this concept blew my socks off,
Why? Say for example, I happened to be shoveling manure at the precise moment in life, when I came across the concept, does that mean shoveling manure should hereby be my destiny?[now, some people no doubt would enthusiastically say yes, but, that’s another matter…],
But then, as I ‘delved’ deeper into it[steady now…],
Which is allowed, since ‘it’ was ‘in front’ of me, hopefully, as opposed to ‘behind’ me, it began to make more ‘sense’…

In brief and in an attempt to clarify the philosophy, one would answer ‘yes’, be the best ‘manure-shoveler’ you can be…,
Some of the many obvious benefits[if the laughter genie grabs you and you wanna add some more ‘benefits’ in the comments section, feel free to do so, har, har…] to such a destiny is that:-
You’ll have a show-piece of a garden,
Annoying people would avoid you,
People would make way for you at the supermarket lines, especially if you’re not the ‘frequent-bather’ type,
Your friends would be few, but they would be ‘real’ friends, the kind that would suck the venom out of you if you were bitten by a viper in your ‘gluteus maximus’[‘cmon look this up, you’ll be glad you did…],
You would save oodles of money in clothing, no expensive Pierre Cardins for you,
If you keep a low profile, you can probably get by without the FDA’s SWAT team descending upon you for ‘practicing’ organic farming without a license,
And, lastly, but definitely not leastly,
Its an easy and legitimate escape from a nagging wife…

So, heck, don’t knock it, as you can clearly see, the benefits, are endless…,
There is indeed a bright future in shoveling manure, and it’s a noble destiny[from the point of view that people will thank God and you, that they don’t have to do it…],
I wish you happy shoveling…
In awareness…
