Love's Bright Sunset

(Sonnet.)
.
I wait for you within Love’s bright sunset,
within your eyes i am lost in Love’s dream,
now we do wait for the coming starlight
travelling to heaven on a moonbeam,

Smile when you see me in Love’s bright sunset,
run into my arms i do feel your grace,
this is the moment love stirs within me,
the moment i see your beautiful face.

I drown in the eyes of Aphrodite,
together we swim within your bright soul,
gently together on love’s horizon,
we walk in sunset towards our Love’s goal.

Come let us join, let us never forget,
the moment divine, by love’s bright sunset.

In A Hollow Tween

Cast adrift your broken web still flutters
Now the dew has become a patterned frost
Hanging down off the ol' clacking shutters
One flapping loudly back and forth is tossed

Barn has gone unpainted another year
Tractor parked quiet in an open bay
Green cat eyes from beneath the hay bales peer
Its shaggy winter coat all tufted gray

Quiet now only the cold breeze echo
Its hollow and dry humming sounds sneer
Moving like waves down the browned grass meadow
Waiting for that first snowfall to appear

The sun slips quickly past the horizon
A scarecrow stands all tattered and wizened

Sweet Flowers of May (sonnet)

Sweet flowers of May how you do entice
lifting and filling my soul with beauty
swaying in the breeze and releasing spice
aromas that enthral sharp and minty

Tumbling roses cover the pergola
sweet musky scent is hanging in the air
robust colours of the gladiola
poking up a most tempting derrière

Fascinated I watch it bob about
as my lover stoops pulling out the weeds
hot and sweaty he does a turnabout
holding my hand he now shows me his deeds

Beds free of weeds that able to flourish
just like our love for each other we cherish

Empty Words

So very sorry for your loss,
At least there was no pain.
These empty words seem meaningless,
When Death has won again.

You have our deepest sympathies,
You're in our thoughts and prayers.
These hollow sounds just echo,
Through the hall and down the stairs.

The numbness is a blessing,
It all seems so unreal.
Til all the words just fall away,
And empty's all you feel.

Late at night, when all is still,
The lonliness sets in.
The thoughts of words you didn't say,
The things that might have been.

Eventu'lly the pain will ebb,
The bitterness, the strife,
To think no more such thoughts of death,
To celebrate the life.

The ones you've loved are never gone,
They still live on in you,
Touching every part of life,
In all you say and do.

About this poem:
Written on hearing of the death of a new friend's mother. Talking to her made me think of what it was like when my own mom died.

spectacles

i look down my nose lensed
something in my fuzzy view
new times seen with new trends
and now a new myopic review

i'm counting my fingers now
holding my hands out to see
there are some digits i avow
but can't tell if two or three

the world is lazy, fuzzy and blurred
the picture is clear as impression
my eyesight nearsightedly absurd
eagle eyed looks no longer obsession

the panorama i see now before my face
a pointillist view i'd prefer to erase

The Lie

It is interesting how it all starts out
Everyone is excited and moving about
Love is in the air
Show up with a flair
The conversations get deeper in thought
The lies a spider web ready to be caught
some times people need more love than one
therefore they think they must have some fun
playing with a persons heart is not nice
both parties endure what a slice
At the end a story is told
Seems just a little too bold
However the fall has taken place
The fall the despair from grace
Pick up the pieces and go on
like a trendy old fashioned song

About this poem:
A relationship built on trust
turns out to be a bust
the lies mount one by one
to someone this is fun
Honesty peace and love
to everyone
Blessings always

When a Child is Born, (double sonnet, acrostic)

*W*hen children are born it's a wonderous thing.
*H*earing it's cry opens mothering love.
*E*very new heartbeat reminds us of spring.
*N*ew life, new hope from creator above.

*A*nyone being there around this place

*C*herishes memories, stores more to last.
*H*oarding the smile of an innocent face,
*I*nter-relating with memories past.
*L*earning to know a wind-grin from a smile
*D*eepens the contact and makes us feel great.

*I*n these deep moments we all have a while
*S*miling and cooing to try and translate.

*B*ut all the laughter and joy that we know
*O*pens in us 'cause a child made it so.
*R*ight at the start when it made our heart sing,
*N*obody questioned this feeling of love

*I*f we looked closer it would make our heads ring
*T*o know what a treasure we've got from above.

*I*n wiser moments, that sweet little face
*S*orts our soul-searching, erases our past.

*A*ll of our failings will go to a place,

*M*ended by one little smile that is vast.
*I*n one split second they cure us of bile,
*R*ages are buried and anger can wait.
*A*fter a while we just echo that smile,
*C*ured and forgetting all thought that was hate.
*L*et us give thanks for this wonder, and know
*E*very miracle child helps us grow.

Border Wars (A Kickit Challenge)

A thousand steps walking a crooked fence
Meanders across a craggy rock strewn field
This boundary only makes little sense
A clumsy border to keep one's eyes peeled

Tufts of grass ring the badly cratered ground
Jagged shards of twisted steel lie in rust
Only a monstrous waste of life be found
Threads in between the warring tribes of trust

If only glory could walk a fabled past
Across a barbed and razor sharpenned wire
Would anyone give hope for peace to last
A much better reason for a cease fire

When borders cease to create a barrier
Indeed the whole world becomes merrier

About this poem:
Inspired by Kickit's openning line...which happenned to be fortuitous
pentameter for my fav sonnet style....my poem envisions a disputed border fence as a symbol of mistrust....

Wisdom In The Woods

Dozen old maple trees equally spaced
Seemingly planted down a lost dirt road
Perhaps on edge of forgotten field traced
No longer any memories bestowed

I imagine once stood an old farmhouse
Just a pile of jagged and broken stone
In a rusted pail now home for a mouse
Secrets ‘neath a canopy overgrown

May a forest reclaim old settled lands
No boundaries left mark once was surveyed
Gone too is the presence of working hands
Be still listen to warblers serenade

Mysteries over years as time marches on
A long row of old maples I now gaze upon

About this poem:
A walk in the autumn woods begs for explanations when such things are found as a row of brilliant maples in foliage and many little clues left behind.

The Catch

Slowly crawling turning gracefully down
The box by the door waited beckoning
A moment in time passed without a sound
The time was here the time of reckoning

They came all of them huddled as if one
All so different yet all just the same
No going back no stopping at full run
Not caring if from happy or sad pain

Floating as if soaring by mighty wings
White the color of surrender or pure
What my eyes surrender what my eyes bring
Floating wings white touched my face with the cure

Dainty hand holding tightly the tissue
Catching tears as they fell was no issue
