RE: The number of gun owners in America...

@hoo curious piece of cherry-picking indeed. Why didn't you choose shotguns with even more favourable statistic? of the 14 odd thousand counted in that table 11.5+ thousand were by firearm - around 80% - and knives were about 7%. But you want to quibble about knives? Statistics is clearly not a forte of yours, hmmm? For comparison, murder weapon of choice in Australia is indeed knife (38%), followed by beating (27%). The gun murder rate (per 100k) in Oz is < 1.0 whereas it is >12.0 in US
@riz The numbers are inconsistent however since the same site quotes 21k for 2020 and an increase of 6% for 2021 (also 21-22k), yet the numbers displayed amount only to 14k or so.

RE: Has Trump made himself ineligible for any elected office?

@rizAround 80m back in 2016, whether in right mind or not did, however, and there is no sign that their minds have righted in the meantime. One hopes that many have changed, and simply refrain from saying so because of the climate of threat and bullying. I think you may attribute too much power of thought to that population.

RE: Has Trump made himself ineligible for any elected office?

@chancer still harping on with the demented deluded 'stolen election'? What nonsense!. Partisan judges? You are mind-bogglingly absurd really, really really.

RE: pop-up ads

they have changed something indeed and unleashed an advertising blitz. It is intolerable without Adblock!

RE: Shameful disgraceful behaviour

@jac so how do you weigh it against the DT snatcher of snatches who was punished for his public boasting by being elected to POTUS45?

RE: Shameful disgraceful behaviour

@jac What nonsense! Tommyrot. Nothing of the sort. Nor is it dismissing the event. You do grab the wrong end of the stick at times.
I note too that he happened to slap her on the behind as she walked away. Also extremely inappropriate - it was grossly stupid behaviour. To destroy someone's career however over a moment of exuberant folly is to my mind over the top. It calls to mind that Oscar 2022 event 'Will Smith SLAPS Chris Rock at Oscars 2022'.

RE: Weaponized...

Weaponise, woke - just wait a mo, one of the local Ruh-pubic-ans will be here flaunting demonrats - ya wanna bet? sigh

RE: Russians begin to notice China reclaiming what is China's

China does in fact rent or lease vast tracts of arable land in southeastern Russia, in the Trans-Baikal and Amur regions, much of which was seized from China at the end of the Qing dynasty.

RE: Shameful disgraceful behaviour

Strikes me as a silly enthusiastic impulsive reaction, highly unwise - but a storm in a teacup. Stupid thing to do in the public eye, now grossly overblown ... but now then all the actors are armed and in battle array. That's just a spur of the moment reaction.

RE: One Belt and Road Initiative growing stronger

Harvesting of executed criminal organs probably/perhaps occurs. Western press claims of more extensive practice are even more probably untrue, biased, prejudicial, anti-China. Perhaps if you believe Epochtimes you might think otherwise, but you would need to be particularly gullible to do so.

RE: Wagner group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin feared dead in plane crash.

No it was not to discuss America but simply to put the concept of Russian democracy alongside that of America in the current context. You raised the question as to whether Russia is a democracy. I continue the question. Read again in context.

RE: Wagner group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin feared dead in plane crash.

So is Russia a Democracy? Few I think would assert so, given control of the media and silence of the majority. Western countries of course trot out 'Authoritarian' or Totalitarian' and given suppression of Russian opposition by court, public silence, and intimidation by the major Russian employer, it is hard to deny such claims. On the other hand, the American government is scarcely democratic, with presidential manipulation of the Supreme Court, division of powers is non-existent in America. Opposition figures, and media, still disappear (though less often) in Russia, don't they? Contra-thinkers in America are still as a matter of course labelled Commies or China lovers. As far as democracy goes, America sets a low standard and a deplorable example. So is America a Democracy then?

an entertaining Guardian article on Carlson / Trump:

Harsh you think? Not half harsh enough thinks I!

RE: Wagner group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin feared dead in plane crash.

An interesting thing that the journalist should choose 'feared' in the headline - lazy cliche journalism perhaps. Why feared instead of believed or reported for example. I wonder who would be afraid he might have died?

RE: Your daily dose of Donald...

@hooha you'd for sure shoot yourself in the foot, as you so often do here.

RE: Your daily dose of Donald...

@hooha you'd sure be like a pig in a swill there, I'll bet!

RE: Is Covid making a comeback?

more dangerous than - previously I said 'Misrepresentation'. NO That is a deliberate LIE

RE: Is Covid making a comeback?

Children have compulsory vaccination with MMR for schooling. You further demonstrate your language incomprehension - read and try to understand.
Where do you see the word dangerous? Deliberate misrepresentation.

RE: Is Covid making a comeback?

Fortunately the sensible percentage of the population usually exceeds the foolhardy by a large enough percentage to provide community immunity to most. Vaccination is not compulsory in Australia either, but if you wish children to attend public school, the child must be vaccinated. That works. For covid there is no such requirement, but I for one would avoid the likes of you as though you had the pox.
England by the way has fallen well below the WHO target for MMR largely due to your kind

RE: STOPPING SCAMMERS ONCE & FOR ALL

@OP you cannot start such a blog under the terms set by CS - no names.
Probable scammers are for me trivial to identify. Anyone under 50 looking amazing, or writing some silly mail. 'Hello how are you?' Or 'I like your profile' or commonly 'Hi' is guaranteed zero response. But I cannot be bothered reporting, it is too too obvious

Ah, see! there MUST be a new outbreak. I know because there is a renewed outbreak of the idiotic anti-vaxxers! Polio Smallpox Measles Chicken Pox Hepatitis Pertussis Diphtheria TB... Why not go and pray instead, sure to be a superior approach!

RE: While the right is watching Hunter...

Let's be honest about this money. It is Investment money, it belongs to the investor, and is definitely not money given or donated. No doubt it is also buying influence, but that is business practice, and no crime. Presumably it will generate profit, but that is not prosecutable either.

RE: Trump's Trial

@gibberishbob at it again as ever...

RE: Trying to take Trump down

@gonelike an inescapable part of out two-party dominated democracy is its adversarial format - government and opposition. How rarely the governments are bipartisan is at the base of the problem. Should Potus45 happen to become Potus47 by some dreadful mistake, the only hope is that one of the two houses is contrarian. That situation crippled Obama and made his successes few and far between, and commonly happens in Western governments.

RE: Trump's Trial

@opThe committee revealed months of, a litany of damning damning evidence. The Trumpites just laughed it off and dismissed it all, just as the CS denizens did. Cheney was resoundingly devestatingly defeated and ousted. All the evidence is forgotten, no one cares, they just beat the drums of witch hunt.

As to deepening the division, it just makes both sides more and more intransigeant and resolves nothing.

RE: Trying to take Trump down

@hoo wishful thinking I suggest. It is more likely to set even deeper in stone both pro and anti. Those who are undecided should be targetted, and I suggest sympathy is unlikely to be a big winner.

RE: Trump's Trial

On topic: Personally I'd welcome the broadcast, as entertainment and a venture into the absurd.
What consequences and impact on findings having or not having might result in, who can say. The absurdity of the jury verdict in the OJ Simpson case gives one cause to wonder. The broadcasting and lack of residual impact of the 6th Jan hearings likewise raise questions. I sincerely doubt it would improve the logic and perceptions of the dyed-in Pro-Potus45, or change the minds of the Anti-potus - more likely set deeper in concrete both sides. I lean towards 'no significant or meaningful' effect.

RE: Trump's Trial

As I said 'in my opinion' and I trust my own opinion massively more than I would ever ever ever trust yours, believe me cobber! rolling on the floor laughing It is as absurd an innocence as that of O J Simpson.
