OMG! so the American public can elect the likes of Marjorie Taylor Greene! Incredible! But then the Australians can elect the likes of Pauline Hanson after all.
My brave daughter (neither black nor white) chose to sing this (Strange Fruit) for her highschool graduation concert, I wonder what the other parents thought at the time.
@op moderator deletions are also a shrug, and something of a mystery. Seemingly innocuous blogs disappear while deliberate misinformation is permitted to continue.
@op if comment deleted - just shrug. I do note the blogger however, and I keep a copy of the text for re-use as I see fit. There are two in particular on my deleter list, one who just deletes contrary views and one who deletes any post whatsoever I make. Neither represents skin off my nose and neither merits respect!
not a prediction but a commemoration of fine music - Johnny Dankworth gone 2009 and Cleo Laine 95 now still here, she whose voice always brings to mind a clarinet
In senior high school we studied George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion (on which My Fair Lady was later loosely based). GBS was disappointed in the MFL adaptation thinking it missed his point. In a short essay following the play, GBS discusses the issue of two opposites or strong willed people (Higgins and Eliza). It being 70 years ago I cannot remember his conclusions, but suspect they were not all that favourable - pretty remarkable that I recall this much detail in fact!
At the shooting murder of Australian woman Justine Damond by policeman Noor 2017 in Minneapolis, neither policeman had the body cam on. You can bet your life police will leave them off if they can.
On the other hand, Andie MacDowell face, chin, cheekbones - quite something! But certainly not enough for another viewing! No nothing like that here, and winter is nothing much at all here either. Late summer early autumn brings the wattle hayfever however.
'pap' in the context of written text means bland, trivial, drivel, meaningless words. eg: there is one who has entered or re-entered CS but just writes pap, unfunny one-liners. Perhaps it is linked to the baby-food usage or meaning. Yet 'pap' is not present in this blog them post as it stands.
A rather abbreviated version of the old Chinese parable from at least 2200 years ago - omits loss of the horse and falling off the horse - yours seems to be the Western version, but the original folk-story is known throughout Asia.
I always have half a dozen or more chilli sauces and sources: nandos peri-peri, tabasco, pickled chillis, sambal, chilli flakes, fresh chillis, and various Chinese chilli pastes. A pinch or two of chilli flakes would have done the job for you 'at a pinch' so to speak.
So @grand suppose you broke into the Royal family home or house of parliament in Oslo, in the company of a mob, then permitted your silly mug to be filmed, with a taser to boot, what tiny fine would you'd expect - a slap on the wrist ?
American military officers figure prominently in my inbox hitlist, formerly serving in Afghanistan (but not lately) now more often in Florida! so you're sure to run into them. Metaphorically speaking of course.
@witch god help me, now I'll always have an image of you in a Val Doonican cardigan! What a nightmare, but the demise of CS (to keep on thread) would indeed relieve me of that.
@witch The attempted condescension and sarcasm merely prove what a toothless tiger (and clawless) you really are, kitten. So in reply to the thread question, there is a definite upside to CS closure!
RE: 85 year old woman gets taken-down by an alligator...
Often, I suspect, it is human stupidity - venturing into the water. By comparison with shark attacks I suspect the croc deaths are rather more.
