Hey Cincy. Sorry if I got your name wrong. For some reason the print on my computer screen is tiny. It just happened and I am trying to figure out how to make it bigger. :)
I have been mistaken for other people too. I must have about 20 twins out there. This time really stuck with me because he knew so much about me. With all this talk lately on the blog about aliens..I am starting to think.
Awhile ago, my friend and I once did a lot of traveling together. Often times I would do something that was much more complex than needed. For example when it came to parking the car, I would get to a parking space seemingly the long way around to it. My friend would point out, why didn't you just do this. I must admit, that was the easier way of parking. At the time, I just did not see it. We always joked about it being because I was left-handed.
I remember when I went back to finish my college degree, I purposely hand wrote a lot of notes out of the book to sharpen my penmanship. I have not done any extensive writing for at least 10 years. Everything was done on a computer. There were times when taking those notes, I could not even read my own writing. :)
Thank you folks for the responses. We should think twice before doing away with hand writing.
I think whatever you did was the correct thing for you. Otherwise, why would you have done it in the first place? And look, you got to learn a lesson from it. :)
I live my life as one big treat. I go to bed at 5am in the morning, wake up whenever I want. I eat where ever and whenever I want. What ever comes to my mind, as long as it is legal, I just go out and do it. :)
As per the other blog...yes, Jung is an amazing person. I love that quote you posted there....so true!
We as a collective society of Earth can be more compassionate towards others. It all starts from us as individuals. Greed is another huge issue, at least here in the United States. I am not sure of the exact numbers here but the top 3% of the wealthiest own 80%+ of the money. Really??!! Do they really need that much money? What about your employees that make you the money?
Speaking of the employees that make them that money. I have a friend who knows somebody who works for a charity organization. He told my friend that he had a meeting with a wealthy contributor to that organization. The wealthy man came right out and told the person that he wanted to see the poor people stay poor. True story.....hmmmmmmmmmmm.
If the possibility was in my hands to improve humanity, the biggest thing I would do would be to inform people. Other than that, I have made many monetary donations to people in need. Why? I realize we are all on this planet and life is not easy for many. Not to mention, I grew up in poverty and know first hand how stressful life can be with a lack of knowledge and lack of finances.
One last thing we can do as a whole is not waste our resources and cut down on pollution.
SR...I hope your retirement is going as you dreamed it would. Enjoy your freedom. :)
I do not intend on this blog as being judgmental. We are a free-will society and I genuinely appreciate and respect everyone's decisions and beliefs they have.
I simply posted this blog because I was genuinely curious about the subject. Knowing a lot of people are non-religious, I wanted to better understand their perspectives. I must say, I have been enlightened and I very much thank you all for that.
I have one more question. You said that just because you are non-religious, that does not mean you do not believe in God. My question is this. How would you even know there was a God if religion did not exist?
I am sorry if this provokes an argument...that is not my intention.
Again, to each their own in life and I sincerely appreciate that.
Thanks all for the great responses. I hear that a lot about religion being a man-made thing, designed to control people.
I have a different view on God. Not really as in the shape of a human watching over us, but as one energy that exists in everything and everyone.
SR, nice to hear from you. I ordered the books online and have since got one in. I am reading about synchonicity (The Tao of Psychology) and finished half the book last night. Now I can put a label on what sort of dreams we experienced. :) It is really interesting Jung discovered this and was not afraid to talk about it...at least he was not afraid to talk about it near the end of his career.
From my understanding, a person can live their life with a dark energy around them. Some of these people might be depressed, angry, or on drugs. I am not certain on this, but it is possible to become possessed. Evil spirits feed off of negative energy. Some people have claimed to have seen "shadow people." It is believed that these shadow people are the results of a collective dark energy that people carry. I do not know about you, but I have been around people where you sense something around them that makes you uncomfortable.
I agree with the previous poster about finding an honest woman.
Many people and myself included believe that any sort of online dating site (especially for men) should be a secondary option. You cannot replace real-life social experiences.
I am doing great SR...thank you for asking. Hope all is well with you.
I decided to go with an all organic spaghetti. It was delicious and I did not forget the garlic toast. :) No wine....hmm....maybe I should have read the responses before eating. There is always next time.
Socrates, thank you for peaking my curiosity on this subject. I have ordered the book. I now have some additional reading to do. :)
SR, outstanding experience. I am happy to hear that the message you received was accurate and you are now healthy. It would almost make me think I have some sort of purpose to fulfill in life. This is of course if there is a why question that needs answering.
In regards to your question about transcending the mind beyond experience and logical reasoning.
I had an experience when I was about 21 years old. It was so amazing that I remember it like it was yesterday.
When I was in high school, two of my brothers and I would go to a much respected teacher's house and play Trivia Pursuit. My teacher and I would always partner up and we never lost. :) After I graduated, I moved about 300 miles away. About three years later, and now living in the "real world", I have never contacted the teacher and never even had any thoughts about him.
I was living in an apartment with my best friend from school. We were working for the same business. I remember it was about 3:30a.m. and I was woken up out of a deep sleep. It was like one of those movie moments, where you find yourself awake sitting up in bed. To this day, this has never happened to me before. For some strange reason, as I was sitting there in bed, I was deeply concerned for my teacher. I remember thinking to myself, this is weird. So, I just went back to sleep.
The next morning, I was woken up to my best friend's mom calling him to let him know that teacher died that night. I remember my friend telling me, that is weird. Why would my mom call me to tell me that?
I am not sure what to exactly make of it. But, I am not a big believer of coincidences.
I do agree with all the posts but I am going to try and attempt to look at fear from a different viewpoint....granted I am just a businessman and no professional in this area what so ever. I also share in your position of trying to better humanity, whenever I can. Can you imagine a world where every single living person only had love an compassion toward everyone else? One would think we are intelligent enough to recognize the benefits of such global society?? Who knows, we may be able to travel the stars, cure all diseases, eliminate any sort of hunger....the list would go on and on.
What comes to mind when the subject of fear comes up is FDR's statement "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."
As many have mentioned, fear is an emotion. What I find interesting about fear is different people fear different things. Somebody brought up the fear of public speaking and you being a college professor probably do not have a fear of public speaking. I remember in one of my college classes we had to give a presentation. I had three members in my group. While giving the presentation, one of the members in my group literally just froze up in fear. The rest of our group, though uncomfortable, gave the presentation with no major issues. What makes one fear something that another does not? What makes one fear something that makes them "freeze-up"; whereas, another person may just be a little uncomfortable or not uncomfortable at all?
There is a difference between fear and danger, as already noted above. Fear is a state of mind and derives from thoughts. A lot of thoughts that develop fear can come at any point in our lives. However, there are fears that we develop at a very young age through child scripts.
As mentioned in a previous post, our child scripts are something we learn very early on in life to protect our well-being as a child. These child scripts are so imbedded within our minds that we do not even know they are there. There is a way to test what sort of child scripts you have. I cannot remember the exact scenario in which I tested mine but you need to imagine yourself in a situation and what is your instinctual reaction to that situation helps to identify your child scripts. I would imagine there is something on the internet that could help one identify your scripts.
I know this is going to ruff some feathers but here it is again. Eckhart Tolle's teachings can help you to become more aware of your emotions. Yes, you can follow his teachings to the word 24hours/7days a week of your life, or, you can use his teachings to help you understand your emotions. I have a question. How can you moderate your emotions if you do not understand and know the full spectrum of them?
Has this ever happened to you?
You'll will have to send me a copy of that issue SA....you know what Friday is. Can you overnight it?
