RE: who will be my date

Good luck finding fun company for Friday, and happy birthday for then. cheering

RE: Dating a man over 50

I'd say you were full of it except that you are over 50 but honestly Map. laugh

Guys over 50 living with Mommy tend to be looking after her, since she's a bit on the frail side these days. Is that so bad? I think it's pretty praiseworthy.

Of course those who insist on Mommy still looking after her wee laddie aren't particularly eligible!

I've obviously been extremely lucky with the men over 50 I have met blushing

Quite a few men who were fairly ordinary earlier get pretty dishy after 50. Maybe just by comparison to the ones who look like they stood next to a candle and melted.

I've never dated a woman over 50 so couldn't comment on that blog, but it looked a bit silly. JMO. scold

RE: Im worried today

Cal, your particular suite is at the back, up a flight of private steps to a small but completely private smoking terrace off your room. Depending on when you plan to come, it should even have a bathroom and miniature kitchenette as well. Do you want a ceiling? (Roof, of course, already in place)

RE: Life after Death

Now, we see through a glass darkly ...

Volunteers and rescue workers often experience odd encounters and it is pretty generally accepted that the consciousness of the recently dead, especially after trauma, hangs around for a while and attempts to interact with the life they've so abruptly left.

I do think we were much more civilized when we thought we would be accountable for our actions to a Higher Power. That, to me, was the whole point of religion - always to act as though we were being watched. A whole generation is growing up without that caution built in at all, and therefore feels free to act on their basest instincts so long as there is no CCTV around dunno I guess one way of making sure the afterlife is not too crowded, eh? Most of that lot will be headed straight off to oblivion. And yeah, yeah, yeah, you will tell me a person can be good value in the community without being tied to outdated beliefs. That's you. Look around. Lot of yobs out there who are lethal in the community and don't see any reason why they can't do exactly what they feel like doing, even if it is vile, or horrible.

Which is way off topic laugh

I do believe there is something after death. I don't have a clue what it is, and not really in that much of a hurry to find out uh oh but it doesn't frighten me.

RE: Pregnant at 60.

Good thinking on her part, young strong kid to push her wheelchair. roll eyes

I look at women over 50 having kids and thinking they are insane, this is the best life has ever been and you want to give that up to change nappies and have broken nights? But we're all different.

She could be the best mom ever, and it could be a great success. It could be disastrous in all sorts of ways. Same odds, pretty much, as the 18 year old giving birth, except I'm guessing this determined lady wanted her child more than most.

Good for her, she achieved what she wanted. And good luck to her. There are no guarantees in life, we only get one shot at it, and its actually none of our business what others choose to see as their dream?

RE: What Do You Remember

Oh well bike stories - very soon after I learned to ride my bike (with trainer wheels) I turned down a long hill, rapidly outpaced my nanny and was soon moving at around 500 mph. Couldn't remember where the brakes were and the road curved ahead and got steeper. Fortunately open field with cows lay straight ahead and I came safely to rest in a cowpat.

RE: First love

First date, oh my, haven't thought of him in years and years. However, this is how old I am. We went to see the film Woodstock! uh oh I was 12 or 13, I think.

First boyfriend, still chat to occasionally. His second wife recently produced his 4th kid, but he said he's worked out what's causing them now and there won't be any more.

Bloody, I envy you handshake

If I do manage to pull off stopping work, it would probably be the start of the busiest time of my life - right now I work a normal 9-5, get home, walk the dog, then work until midnight on my own stuff. It isn't enough time, there's never enough time, so yeah why am I in here whinging on CS, I know, I know.

Gies a break, this is coffee time.

The world owes me a living. That's all. Pay up, world, let me go do what I want, not just earn a sordid salary. sigh

Soltera, I'm impressed to learn that Spain is expecting such a dramatic surge in its economy that it will chuck out all the pensioners who pay into their coffers, and accept in return all the Spanish who earn a living in the UK and would need to find jobs, or live on welfare, in Spain.

Unless you were just enjoying some wishful thinking there?

RE: DIY Surgery & Home Cures

RE: DIY Surgery & Home Cures

Not done surgery on myself but once remove a plaster cast on my wrist when it started driving me mad at 3 in the morning.

Newsflash - surprisingly hard to remove a cast on your right arm when you are left handed.

Retirement - 30? 70?

KB, absolutely, I based my numbers on the earliest age one could claim a govt pension, but none of us, any country, could actually live on a govt pension without a very helpful family at the very least

Plus stopping work when it's still interesting and fun - who wants to?

(well, me. But so many other things I want to do!)
