I think family traditions have fallen by the wayside in much of Western culture Pearl. Probably, and sadly in my opinion, families only get together for births, deaths and funerals because they are often scattered far and wide these days.
Here in Spain though family traditions are still very strong, elderly relatives remain part of and live within the family unit, they are seldom farmed off to rest homes.
I don't believe using dating sites makes us sad or pathetic nor innovative or optimistic, though I suppose it could be viewed as a last resort to some people who perhaps find the whole concept of online dating strange somehow, as I did a few years ago and I still occasionally have a slight unease about it.
As others have said, and I agree entirely, it is simply another means of communicating and perhaps meeting people. The problem, in my opinion, is when people who have little or no social life become too dependent on it..... that is sad.
I don't like very long nails so I keep mine regular length, filed and usually with a french manicure which I do myself. Occasionally I'll paint them a bright colour but I prefer a nice clear polish and white tips.
Hi, there is a member called Smoky over on the EU forum who lived in South Africa and I'm sure she would be delighted to give you some pointers/advice.
Ok, normally people have to hold a donor card which entitles the medical profession to whatever they choose with their organs once they have passes away, though I believe one can stipulate if particular organs or not to be donated. So, one choose whether or not to hold a donor card, if it is not held the family of the deceased may be asked if they agree to organs being harvested.
Many people do not think about obtaining a donor card even if in reality they have no objections to their organs being used after death, despite relevent publicity....in the UK anyway.
In Spain it is the other way around, your organs will be harvested unless you have declared your wishes against, so this has naturally resulted in more organs being available for those that may need them.
Now, unless you have some kind of religious or other belief that goes against using your organs after death I cannot for the life of me understand why anybody would object. It is not, in my opinion, an argument about state intervention,(because as I have already said, I believe this is an opt out system which means you still have choice) rather a way of making more organs available.
Ok, but in Spain you do have the option of saying no if you choose. How many people are there who have no religious or other reasons for retaining their bodily organs after death simply do not think about how useful it would be to leave behind a donor card? Millions!
I believe, but please correct me if I'm wrong, Gordon Brown wants to use the system here whereby people still have a choice but there will be more organs available.
Indy, in the UK as you know, it is an opt in system, here in Spain it's an opt out system. In my opinion the Spanish system is better.....why not make organs readily available?
Am I going to miss my eyes or my liver or anything else for that matter once I'm dead?
