I think the underlying message of ship/pretz´s thread is that so many people here say, in countless threads, that they can accept almost any flaw in a potential partner, or words to that effect, be it physical or emotional. That being the case, it´s amazing there are so many members of the site.
People who make honest statements about what they don´t want are often shot down in flames for being "cruel" or "insensitive". Sometimes however, these statements are just that, because they have been either worded insensitively, or made as a provocative, personal attack.
If peope can´t be honest, it´s better to keep personal preferences to oneself, rather than lie in order to win the CS Ms or Mr Perfect, Tolerant, Humane etc etc being award,
Cinema.....wrong movie, rubbish....nag, nag , nag. It´s 5 past 10, you finished work at 10, where have you been....nag, nag, nag. Meet my friends, moan about going, don´t like them, pout, pout....nag, nag, nag. Love that low cut top, but why are you wearing it to go out with friends?.....nag, nag, nag. Women over 45 generally become independent, strong, confident and comfortable in our own skins and don´t particularly want to raise another (man)child.
Kid you´ve maintained your dignity and been polite with your replies throughout this thread, hats off to you.
I´ve been truly appalled at some of the personal attacks directed at you. Whilst I would agree that your original post was not entirely clear, i.e. let oneself go, which usually includes physical appearance along with personal hygiene, you clarified this on a number of occasions, yet people still felt the need to make comments about your own appearance.
Good luck in your search for a sweet smelling and clean man. (that´s in my profile too!).
Yes cusp it`s plain to see and for me, sorry folks, but a little sad. (as it would be for any copy and paste job).
I hope nobody is playing games at the expense of the lady in the picture. As far as I know, stiffer is not a term used by most ladies of a certain age.
We can be as evil as men can be, no more, no less. Manipulative? What does that have to do with the feminist movement? Anyway, the term itself, I mean feminist movement here, is so sixties!
We are people and capable of all things, regardless of gender.
Well I use a computer, like most of you, every day and I produce complex excel spreadsheets, word documents etc, but spam in my mailbox is a mystery to me.
In laymans terms, why do I get so much of it, and more worrying, why is much of it addressed to me personally, like - Janis (my name) would you like blah blah..... I have never opened them and always report them as spam to my email provider.
Inter-racial? Many relationships are so, and have been for many years. I don´t really understand the question, or the surprise. The world has become smaller and more accessible to most people so it´s natural isn´t it?
Tell me about it! The shortage of students who can afford English classes is making life even more difficult for us already poorly paid teachers. I´m taking on private classes with wealthy doctors, so just about coping.
Even Russia is experiencing problems, many of my students were about to be made redundant when I left. Very sad.
Hi Lago. That's got a country and western, trad Irish feel which doesn't appeal to me. It's the only kind of music I can't get into it, except for a few Johnny Cash numbers. I'm not trying to get round you phoenix BTW!
Gerry had a completely different feel, 60's Liverpool beat, lively, innovative sound, not old english.
No you're wrong sweet lady. I understand what you say here but I think you have misunderstood some of the posts, including mine.
I haven't really said no, in opposition to what you believe, but I have said that there are already legalised drugs such as alcohol or cigarettes which are dangerous.
My take on all this is that we shouldn't have to deal with yet another legalised, life threatening drug. We have enough already! Alcohol, cigarettes can be fatal, they are legal therefore people use them either recreationally or to excess. The exact same thing will happen if other drugs are legalised. Maybe not straightaway but in time, for sure.
Legalised drugs anyway line the pockets of our governments at the end of the day, and as a socialist I would say no thank you. Politicians who advocate legalisation, in the main, do so because it will boost the government coffers in terms of taxation, like alcohol and cigarettes.
Yes, from what little I know, not being a pot smoker personally. However my two brothers are and have been for over twenty years, so I'm not totally out of the loop here. they are not addicts and it hasn't affected their lives outwardly at least. Just like people who go out drinking at the weekend.
I didn't single out this habit as an evil which should be banned did I? I linked it with acceptable drugs such as ciggies and alcohol.
All I was trying to say is that I don't believe that the world will be a better place with one more legalised drug.
You see, there are sensible users, perhaps like yourself and others, just as there are sensible users of alcohol, but there are abusers too and if it is made easier to obtain there will be addicts which is why we have alcoholics and smokers who cannot, or find it difficult to quit.
Any drug is addictive if it abused, including pot, whether you like it or not.
Christ, why not make everything legal then we can all be emphysemic alcoholic, pot/crack heads!
Look, I've already responded to this post saying that I really don't know whether some or all drugs should be legalised. I do know that I'm a smoker, and I really wish I weren't. I drink, not to excess, but I really wish it wasn't so readily available and acceptable given the alcohol problems young people are facing nowadays.
From the little I know, pot is useful in alleviating pain in certain afflictions and is prescribed by some doctors, albeit illegally. If I was offered something to ease pain then I would take it, but please don't offer me or anybody else something which can kill me 10 years before I should naturally close my eyes and go to sleep. I already know that smoking is going to knock some years from my life if I don't stop soon.
I believe that smoking pot is no more harmful than cigarettes, but I choose not to smoke it because I smoke cigarettes and therefore I have somewhat of an addictive personality. I also believe that smoking pot is detrimental to the health in the long run so don't add one more thing to the list of morally or legally acceptable drugs.
I tried it once and I was ill. Partly because I had been drinking a little, partly because I had been smoking cigarettes. Nasty combination so it can't be all good can it?
