The Beatles

Yubba, post links, youtube, so we can listen please.

RE: 10 questions that every intelligent Christian must answer

My students are adults...homework is optional.

I don´t really berate them, just explain that they would benefit from doing a little work at home to reinforce what we have done in the classroom.

I´m a nice teacher really. rolling on the floor laughing

The Beatles

True, but for complete beginners it is ideal for teaching greetings,

RE: 10 questions that every intelligent Christian must answer

Excuses, excuses, excuses!

Sounds like me berating my students when they lie about why they haven´t done their homework. rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Republicans are 25% Healthier than Democrats

Does Obama smoke or what? dunno

Always heed the epidemiology stats....I teach them here in Spain. laugh

The Beatles

I like using music for listening practice in my English classes when I can, the students enjoy it too.

The early Beatles songs are ideal because the lyrics are simple and quite clear.

What is your favourite Beatles song?

This is one I use for my beginners.....Hello, Goodbye

Love songs for all you romantics.

My Girl.

RE: what

Students who turn up late for private classes. I´m waiting for one now.

grrrrrr

Lots of things give me pleasure. Walking in the sunshine today and taking off my jacket to feel the warmth. People who smile at me and say "Hola guapa!". Students who are punctual. laugh

RE: On dating sites, do you women like to see photos of men barechested?

Personally, no.

If a profile has a selection of photos and one happens to be on the beach then fine.

I don´t think it´s being aggressive, a little macho perhaps, (which I dislike) or necessarily conceited...well perhaps if the body is young and well toned youthful conceit is more understandable and acceptable! laugh

Older men, by that I mean over 40, who reveal their chests do not endear themselves to me for a number of reasons, but I´m just one woman, so until you have the opinions of a wider membership, my view is quite worthless!

RE: who are the three hottest cs'ers to you?Men/Women

Oh Dawn I know, my post was tongue in cheek! If I really fretted about not being on a CS shortlist then I would need serious psychological help!!

Sometimes European humour gets missed here unfortunately.

Thanks though, you´re a lovely woman too. hug

RE: who are the three hottest cs'ers to you?Men/Women

Ha! You´re too late snooty

Only joking! hug

RE: who are the three hottest cs'ers to you?Men/Women

Couldn´t possibly say.

And why would I, seeing as though I´m not on anybody´s shortlist laugh

It´s not really about being hot though is it, more popularity. I don´t mind not being Ms Popular, in fact I quite like it. It means I´m not spending too much time here. laugh

RE: Say unto others as you wish to be spoken to....

Well Tamarin, I don´t like the bickering and lies here either. but...it does help sort the wheat from the chaff and "out" seemingly nice, normal people at times.

So, all the nastiness does have its advantages at times don´t you think?

RE: someone else

I wouldn´t want to be anybody, but I would love to be a fly on the wall in the homes of almost everybody here.

Just cos I´m nosey, and I´d like to see everybody warts and all.

Actually no, I´m going off that idea as I write....laugh

RE: The Smoking and Honesty Thread...

Thanks Rusty.

I wasn´t having a go at anybody, just felt the thread was not achieving what it set out to.

The humour behind your pics and those of Phoenix I appreciate a lot, they made me laugh. I haven´t changed or lost my sense of humour like some of Smokys´ descriptions of non-smokers.

And, I live in Spain, it seems as though most people smoke here, so I´m not going to start criticising smokers, preach, or stop going to bars! I hated people preaching at me to give up so I know how it feels.

RE: would you older generation

But Laura, the OP, me, and Sommer HAVE been talking about young adults.

RE: would you older generation

I never did that. My daughter kept a diary, and the fact that she never hid it...it was there in her bedroom where she knew I cleaned occasionally, meant that she trusted me not to violate her privacy.

I was tempted many times, I won´t deny it, but I never read it. I preferred to talk openly with her about her relationships. At times she didn´t want to, which I respected, but other times she did, and I listened. i offered advice which sometimes she took, other times she didn´t.

Her first year at University was traumatic for her, the first time away from home, and she soon met a guy who she fell in love with.

I met him later, but didn´t like him much. I said nothing. In time there was a huge fall-out and he was being violent towards her when she tried to end it. She phoned me and her dad in tears. He went to collect her from the city in which she was situated and brought her home. At the age of 21, she wanted to sleep with me for the first time in many, many years. That night we didn´t talk, she cried like a baby and I held her in my arms in bed.

No, I would never do a check, that does not mean I do not feel less love or protection towards my kids.

Love songs for all you romantics.

"long" doh...Love.

Love songs for all you romantics.

One of my fave long songs. Sinead in the video is soooo beautiful.

RE: no clean knickers, what do you do ?

C`mon, what is the situation here?

Do I have time to wash and dry my knickers before I leave?

If not, then it has to be without......or buy a few extra pairs if I´m planning on staying awhile unexpectedly. wink

RE: why are so many opposed to health care???

You are very wrong Indy.

The NHS provides me with a fantastic service. I receive regular reminders in the post to attend free mammograms and cervical smears. Here in Spain I recently went to visit the doctor to advise her that my mammogram in the UK last year was clear, for her records, and I was sent for a free annual blood analysis.

I was given a copy of the results, three pages long because absolutely everything was tested, two days later!

Fortunately my health ia A1...but how fantastic that all this is free, regardless as to which European country I reside.

RE: why are so many opposed to health care???

Aneurin Bevan
Creator of the National Health Service
Born:
15 NOV 1897
Died:
06 JUL 1960
Place of Birth:
Tredegar
Famous For:
Creator of the National Health Service

The purpose of getting power is to be able to give it away Aneurin Bevan

Trivia:
The Manic Street Preachers named an album after a Bevan quote -
This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours.

Biography:
The son of a Tredegar miner, Nye Bevan was a pioneering Labour politician who created the NHS.

Nye Bevan is my hero. There are undoubtedly many ills in the NHS today, but it still provides an incomparable, highly skilled, and free service to all, regardless of wealth or status.

Fortunately here in Spain, I am entitled to receive the same free health services.

RE: would you older generation

Never! It wouldn´t even cross my mind, and I have two adult children.

I also found it sad that I was responding to a thread directed to the older generation! moping

RE: The Smoking and Honesty Thread...

Ha ha Rusty....and Phoenix! I love seeing your ciggie pics.

You will join us seriously one day though won´t you?

wave

RE: does anyone like Marilyn Monroe

She was very beautiful, and I think a very good actress, particularly in the comedy genre.

Unfortunately, the best of her acting abilities were not realised nor recognised due to her untimely death.

RE: Which Love Is Most Important?

At times I have not loved myself, but it has in no way diminished the love I have for my children, parents and siblings.

I think that loving oneself is important, but as long as that hasn´t escalated into some kind of deep depression where one cannot function, it really makes no difference to the love one feels for others.

For me, my children are the most important people in my life. They are adults now and we live in different countries, but we have a bond unlike any other, I´m sure all mothers would agree with me.

As life progresses our priorities change, As a child, my parents were the most loved in my life, then, my now ex-husband, became my priority in the love stakes. Later my kids became OUR priority, a different love, but shared between us, and happily, no cause for jealousy, as often happens on the part of the male when children arrive.

Now I am single, he..the ex... has slid right down the scale. laugh

As an atheist, God does not come into the question for me.

I adore my mummy though. teddybear

RE: brownies with frosting

hug No worries, I´ve asked you a favour. grin

RE: Men, what is your idea of a good match for a mate?

I think you´re right.

Many older men who have been through the mill, i.e. divorce, widowhood, etc, often want somebody to look after them because they are scared of being alone. Usually men who have been married or in a relationship for a long time.

I think women in general cope with the single life much better than men. Unfortunately for these type of men, that also means that the single women of similar age they meet, aren´t willing to be nursemaids or happy to have a stay at home, exclusively couple type relationship.

I have met some men, a little older than me, who act like my grandfather!

Please note, I am generalising here, not everybody is the same.

RE: brownies with frosting

Wow thats great! Thank you.

I can buy all of these ingredients in my local organic shop.

Yummy!

RE: brownies with frosting

They sound ddelicious. I don´t have a sweet tooth really, but I do love dark chocolate.

My problem is I try no to eat anything from a tin or packet, (additives) so some of the suggested recipes here would not be suitable for me.

Now if anyone can tell me how to make them with fresh, organic ingredients I would very much appreciate it.
