Oh Morgan, I´m so sad that people feel this way, and you are possibly the third person to say it so there must be some truth in it.

I will say again though, that nobody deliberately ignores anybody here. I think it´s all about being in the know about regular threads. Our threads go on for much longer here and there isn´t such a quick turnaround time, so we kind of get into this prolonged chat mode. If that excludes members who pop in and out, then I apologise.

As Lago says though, some of us here are often ignored when we pop into the Int. Forum, perhaps for the same reasons, I don´t know.

We need to pull our socks up a little perhaps.

Why? I don´t think you have at all!

I´m very surprised that anybody would feel they were being ignored or not welcome on this forum.

We always go out of our way to welcome new people and try to include them in our little family here.

However, we´ve all had moments when we seem to be the only person here, talking to ourselves, and nobody responds to our posts That´s one of the differences between here and the Int.F, there is always somebody online over there due to the various time differences of the members.

Oh yes, I´ve used this one lots of times with beginners too.

And shot, I usually give them a gap-fill, so they listen for the missng words, or I cut up the lyrics and they have to put them in the correct order.

Sometimes, they do sing along after the second or third listening. Adult learners are a bit shy about singing though, particularly the men.

Native English, fluent in Spanish and Italian. Intermediate level French, German, and Portuguese, Elementary level Russian, Polish and Turkish.

As a recent quitter, since 1st February, I have to say that I agree with a lot of the posts made by smokers here. I have been saying the same for 30 years in order to justify my habit!

Look, I´m delighted that I have stopped smoking, and I feel fantastic, and proud of myself and my fellow CS´ers in the same boat..... see the EU No smoking thread.....but I´m not going to preach, I hated that when I was a smoker.

I live in Spain where smoking is still very popular and still permitted in most bars and restaurants. It doesn´t bother me, the only difference now is that now I occasionally look at smokers and think yuk, or I´m glad I´m not you any longer!!! It is unhealthy as we all know, smelly, but it looks ugly too, I´ve only now realised.

Giving up smoking has made me aware of healthy living in general, so I´ve upped my exercise program and changed my diet, not radically because living in Spain means my diet is very healthy anyway. I´ve just cut down on carbs and drink more water, that´s all.

Nobody in Spain eats twinkies btw! In fact my students often ask me why so many people in America are so fat. Some have visited the USA for business or pleasure and tell me they have never seen such obese people. It is a real shock for them.
