I can honestly say I´ve never known a tee-totaller. People who drink occasionally yes, but complete abstainers no.
Those who like a drink occasionally do not have a problem, nor feel the need to preach about how abstinence is the key to happiness.
In general, people who do that, are those who have had a serious problem in the past and come out of it, granted, with strength perseverance, and willpower.
In answer to the question though, no it wouldn´t be a problem for me to date a non drinker, as long as he accepted that I like a glass of red wine with my dinner.
Thanks oobie, but sorry, wrong again. My two adult kids have never smoked and have no wish to. Peer pressure though is a deciding factor in my case ar least.
However, you can keep twisting this theory of yours to suit, and here´s something else to enable you to do so, my kid´s father also has never smoked.
Now you can tell me that this is why the receptors somehow got blocked on the way!
I´m not getting at you or your theory, it is interesting, but sometimes people start smoking and continue without having any influence from their parents, nor passing it on to their offspring.
There is good PC and PC which perhaps has gone OTT. I love the changes in our language to accommodate it, being a teacher of English, it interests me a lot.
Think about the way language has evolved in respect of people with various disabilities, that can only be a good thing. The only reason people used words such as handicapped, or even worse, was because people with disabilities were not as visible as they, thankfully, are today. Visibility and acceptance means tolerance and using acceptable language.
Incidentally, I would never dream of asking anybody under perhaps 16, how old they were. That has nothing to do with being PC, just good manners in my opinion.
I worked and lived in Istanbul for 6 months. It´s a beautiful, cosmopolitan city, fantasric, friendly people, and safe in so far as any other capital city in the world is.
I love it, and like you, generally use it for music, but there is some great documentary stuff there among the weird and stupid.
I found some fascinating things about Russia before I went, there is a 6 part docu about the trial of Mikhail Khodorkovsky which, for me, was really interesting and made for some good classroom material when I was there.
RE: Valentine...How would you want your evening ?
I want more than what the poll offered.
