I love that saying

It's used here in Russia by the anti Putin brigade. Behind closed doors of course.

RE: How do you know?

My own opinion, and I know many people here disagree, is that meeting somebody here or any other dating site is not to be treated too seriously until you have that actual face to face meeting. I don't believe it's possible to fall in love with somebody behind a computer screen or telephone line.

It's worked for me, I've never been hurt or let down since joining CS, and after the four or five dates I've had after virtual communication, I knew immediately that nothing was going to come of them, but I wasn't hurt because I never had overly high expectations.

Maybe it's because I'm happy with my life, and although it would be nice, the overriding priority for me is not to meet a significant other.

RE: Honesty is ignored

It may not have anything to do with having a disability Chip. If you check out the threads and posts here, a very high percentage of 'able bodied' members gripe about the very same thing.

I applaud your honesty though.

RE: Are you part of the "rat race"?

What's your definition of a rat race then Rebel?

I suppose I still am a part of my definition of it, but like phoenix, moved away from the UK to Spain for a watered down version!

I was under the impression that the pace of life is much slower in New Zealand, correct me if I'm wrong, and many young people like yourself move away for more excitement.

RE: OK, so it over - how do you let somebody down gently?

There is no 'nice' way to end a relationship if the other person is going to be hurt, and as a person who tries hard not to hurt anybody's feelings I've stayed in a couple of relationships much longer than I should have.

All I would say is try to use tact, be as gentle as possible and do it face to face.

If you end up with a stalker, which did incidentally happen to me, then the kid gloves have to come off!

RE: Say Something.... You Know the Rest...??!!

RE: why is it that?

I disagree completely, and as Sommer says, take a peek over on the International Forums, then you'll see really nasty posts and threads.

Of course there are disagreements here, but they are few and far between and usually end up with apologies and virtual handshakes.

RE: Reintroduce me in EU only

Ohhh, I didn't know you'd been silenced! Something happened over on the IF I suppose? I also missed the reason for your friend's disappearance, I hope he reconsiders, he seemed very nice.... and intelligent.

Well, glad to hear that you are happy.

RE: When Do We/Or Should Give In?

Nobody can force anybody to love them so we have to accept it whether we like it or not. The upside though is that we never really know what tomorrow will bring, so I would say be happy with your singledom and stop fretting about something which may never happen.

Surely that's much better than rushing into relationships which you know aren't going to work, or accepting second best just because you don't want to be alone.

RE: When Do We/Or Should Give In?

Men and women of your grandmother's generation lived completely different lives and the thought of actively seeking another partner probably never seriously entered their minds.

Nowadays we take it for granted that a failed marriage or relationship does not equate to singledom for the rest of our lives. Therein lies the problem, perhaps we expect it too much and when it doesn't happen, we feel rejected or doomed to a life alone.

Maybe the best policy is to stop trying so hard and let fate take a hand in whatever is in store for us.

RE: All Vegan Not The BEST Choice

When I decided to cut down on on red meat around 10 years ago it was also the time when salmon was getting a bad press.

Since around 2003/4 EU regulations state that salmon on sale should be clearly labelled wild or farmed, (though this has been abused by supermarkets and fishmongers in isolated cases) not just for health reasons, but also to protect the natural environment. As for the USA, I guess the same regulations have been put into place, but I don't know for sure.

Atlantic salmon have more fat, obviously since they live in colder waters, but this also means they have a higher omega value. However, most of Atlantic salmon is farmed and full of additives, disease etc, so I would always opt for Pacific wild salmon if I were to buy it.

You should try sardines, they are delicious and rich in omega 3 fatty acids. They are also very low in mercury and other contaminates apparently. I don't know about the USA but in Spain (and Portugal where they are an integral part of the diet) they are also very cheap.

Yummy!

RE: Your life

Although I hate travelling every day on the metro, I have to say that here in Moscow it's even quicker, less than a minute between trains regardless of the time of day or night, and the stations are very grand.

RE: All Vegan Not The BEST Choice

It seems to me we go around in circles trying to make sense of the wildly differing and ever changing 'professional' opinions on healthy eating.

I'm not a vegetarian, but limit my intake of red meat to once a week and I do eat fish. However I avoid salmon for the following reasons.

Much of the salmon eaten and sold in supermarkets is farmed and raised in floating net pens or factory farms. Using this method results in a huge amount of waste and parasites which inevitably spoils the marine environment and spreads disease. Farmed salmon are given antibiotics and other drugs which experts believe can put you at greater risk of cancer. Salmon flesh also contains high amounts of cholestorol and fat.

Artificial colourants are also fed to farmed salmon to make the flesh pink. Worse, farmed salmon are cooped up like battery hens and if they escape they spread disease among the wild salmon and other fish which could mean extinction in the future.

Give me a plate of fresh grilled sardines any day.

RE: Hi All, on more here. Will it make a difference?

Hello and welcome. Nice to see another Spanish member, we may soon outnumber the Maltese! laugh

RE: I don't care much about the outside but care about the inside, oh yeah?

Many guys just don't have the imagination to start a conversation with anything other than "nice pic". Perhaps they think we all like to be praised for our physical appearance first and foremost, and there's no bad thing in that really.

Worse for me is the "Hi cutie/beautiful ,(Finished the cutie phase of my life when I was about 12!), interesting profile. dunno

RE: Some tips please, for long distance travel soon

All the tips already given are good, particularly the moving about and exercising your legs.

I'd add an evian spray to keep cool, and try to avoid sitting anywhere near babies and young children, they can make any flight a nightmare!
