And why do you say in your profile you are looking for somebody yet you are in a relationship?

I doubt whether there are many females here wanting to get involved with somebody who is already involved, and you don´t seem to like us very much, so, final question, why exactly are you here?

If I never ate any type of dessert again, it wouldn´t bother me.

I eat chocolate regularly, and very occasionally a cake, but given the choice of a cheese board with fruit, or a sickly pudding for dessert, I would go for the cheese every time.

There have been many threads about what women like and don´t like, in so far as dating sites go.

Personally, I don´t woo and never have here, I´m old fashioned and prefer not to make the first move. It hasn´t been totally unsucessful, as I´ve had several dates.

I did suffer this for two years quite recently, yet I wouldn´t say I simply allowed it to happen, and I´m an assertive, independent woman, so unlike the stereotypes often portrayed as victims. It happened gradually, that´s what control freaks do, they are very clever.

When the situation reached the point where I was questioned if I didn´t answer the telephone quickly enough, and I was losing friends because he would cry or have a tantrum if I wanted to see them, I got out.

It wasn´t easy though, control freaks hate to lose.

True for me too, being British enables me to travel and teach. I´ve met some wonderful people on my travels and students have, without exception, shown great respect and interest in British culture.

The expression "Proud to be British", though, smacks a little of jingoism. I´m happy to be British, whatever that actually means these days, although I chose to live in Spain four years ago.

Spain is in my heart and soul and I felt at home when I first arrived here. Can´t explain why, and the feeling hasn´t diminished in the slightest.

Your thread title..."Would you want to know.." Well I would say of course, wouldn´t we all?

Unfortunately, this often only comes to light later rather than sooner, and there is no possible way of really knowing in this virtual world we are participating in. The bongo drums behind the scenes are not always fair or trustworthy.

However, I don´t really think there are too many men here as you describe (not entirely sure about your reference to sick pleasures though!) but I´ve discovered that there are definitely more whose profiles are a work of fiction.

That probably applies to some of the females too, don´t want to be accused of being one-sided.

What do you mean by overseas?

You live in Australia, so the law of averages dictates that of course you will get more contact from other countries.

Just the same as me in Spain, I´m in a minority, so the interest generally comes from overseas.

Are the forums really the best way to meet somebody?

Sorry I don´t agree, the forums are a completely different way of "mingling" in comparison with the real world. People don´t come out with 90% of the stuff written here in the real world.

I do agree though, that distance is perhaps the biggest drawback here.

I think you´ve misunderstood what I meant by romantic interest. When people become friends, as they do here, the relationship takes on a different form, not in the least romantic, but people throw in a flirty comment from time to time, so we still believe this is actually a dating site. In reality, more people are simply friends.

That´s not a bad thing, as I´ve already said, but few people seem to go that step further successfully.
