Maybe it's because of all of the genetically modified or genetically engineered crops that are being grown now that include pesticides and herbicides in them. Corn, soybeans, and tomatoes are the biggest sources of this, and I have to ask how a food can be healthy for us when it contains poisons that we can't wash off of it because they're part of the food itself. (The answer, btw, is that it isn't and it's causing problems with us as well.)
If you think that it's not important that bees are being killed in large enough numbers to be noticed in many parts of the world, think again. As Deepak Chopra once stated, "If all of the insects disappeared from the face of the planet, all other life would die. If humans disappeared from the face of the planet, all other life would flourish." If we kill off the insects like this, we kill ourselves as well. Food for thought (pun intended).
It's sad what some of the human race do to each other. Blessedly, the majority are not capable of such violence. My heart is with all who have suffered such senseless loss through any act of terrorism, regardless of how big or small.
Don, my heart goes out to this family, and all others to whom tragedy like this happens. I don't understand how any child predator can be so close to both a school and a park, but that many is just ridiculous. And I wonder if anyone really knew that? The law states that they must declare themselves, but do most parents look to see if there are any around their children? My bet is the answer is no.
However, live your life and don't spend it pining and waiting. I think the best love comes to those who are living their life, not waiting for someone to complete it.
I'm happy with my life, regardless of whether or not there's a man in it. I have my studies, my friends, and sometimes more choices of what to do with a day than things I can do.
I'm too open about my life on her not to announce when I'm seeing someone. But that's me...and it's been both good and bad. I've learned some things through what I've experienced on here, and one of those is not to date anyone from here.
Wrong. Sorry, but what I'm learning about grains and our health makes this a really bad suggestion, Witchay. Not trying to get OT though, honestly. But a big plate of pasta (grains) and hard alcohol (grains) would be worse for your health.
My second husband could sew very well, and he's the one who taught me to cross-stitch. Again, something my mother didn't have the patience to teach me.
I can sew buttons and darn socks, but I can't operate a sewing machine or do stitches that are good enough for any other repairs by hand. I do, however, cross-stitch.
My mother didn't have the patience to teach me, but has taught her granddaughters. Age apparently gave her the patience to teach one generation later.
HL, this is an interesting post. I love Deepak Chopra and his insights, he's a very wise man in the ways of spirituality and of mankind.
I agree that for true love to develop in a relationship both members of the couple must have similar enough beliefs to meld in that way as well as all others. Love must have a spiritual element to it.
For example, I couldn't date anyone who is rabidly Christian, Muslim, or Jewish. My beliefs are too broad for that, and the way I experience God is too different for someone like that to be a good match with me, especially if they're quoting their faith a lot. I'm dating someone now who is Baha'i, but doesn't bang me over the head with it, and actually has spiritual views that are very compatible with mine, and that's important to me. It's what makes us so compatible, actually.
Both people, however, must surrender ego to Spirit for this to work.
I'd just like to do it for one day so I can get some things paid off...and still make my normal income. I know well that money doesn't buy happiness, Robert. Happiness can only come from within. But money doesn't have to make one miserable, either.
And that's a nice thing to do for a friend. I have several LDFs...in the US and around the world. I treasure them all, and am glad to count you as one of them, PolarB!
And no, I can't IM yet, I don't have internet at home yet.
What makes me happy? Seeing a beautiful sunset (I admit I'm not real happy when I see it rise). My dogs making me laugh when the do something goofy, or just cuddling with me while I read, stitch, or watch TV. Getting to do something with friends. A sunny day that I can go on a trail walk. Seeing a hummingbird, or a beatiful flower. A phone call from a friend I haven't spoken to for a while. Etc...the list is endless, and the things that make me happy are the simple things in life.
I have to admit that making $15,000 in a day rather than a year would make me happy right now too.
You're welcome, Betty and everyone. I enjoyed it, and would love to see more stairs like this if they'll make more people take the stairs and make it more fun to do so! I loved seeing the ones who were actually acting like they were on a big keyboard and playing on the stairs! Life should have more fun in it!
Don't feel bad, I've always needed a night light as well. I now have a dual purpose one since I use a Himilayan salt rock crystal lamp as my night light. My sons, however, have always preferred sleeping in the dark.
To me, the electricity used by such low lights is irrelevant in affecting the carbon footprint. I do other things like use CF bulbs in the lights I burn the most, turn off lights in rooms I'm not in, try to combine as many things as possible into outings with the car and run it in an efficient manner route-wise, recycle and reuse as much as possible, etc.
I understand that...but honestly, the type was too small on the computer here to read the answers to the first and 5th questions, which would make it inaccurate regardless. I'm not guessing at random in order to take it. I do wish I could have joined in the fun...and it's times like this that I miss having my home computer.
However, knowing how addicted I get to this site, I'm also glad I don't sometimes.
I couldn't read two of the sets of answers to the questions...the ones that had longer answers than true or false...because the print was too small on the library's computer, so I couldn't take it Sis. Looks interesting, though.
