RE: Can Muslims drink alcohol like Muhammad did ......

It's still the old days where they don't really do second chances because you have 16 brothers and sisters. Far more people with a lot less chance so that only the really good will make it.

Now the west is 16 chances for an only child. And that changes everything. It limits the harm of proliferating the weakest. Those who fail will be saved.

RE: Can Muslims drink alcohol like Muhammad did ......

I suspect it's how they always are. Polarised. Piety and scandal, there'll not be any ones who are just "alright" one of the reason it clashes so much with liberalism and the west. A definite male culture with a definite lack of anybody in the middle, no shades of grey.

RE: NHS could lose 1000 staff over manditory vacs

Well it's very silly now that omicron has arrived. The unvaccinated are not that worse off because the vaccines are not that good and the omicron is not that bad.

RE: NHS could lose 1000 staff over manditory vacs

And this will hopefully become more accurate as time goes on. Personalized medicine will be able to tell me exactly why I need a vaccine and you don't, and vice-versa.

RE: NHS could lose 1000 staff over manditory vacs

The vaccines were an easy way to lose your covid virginity. But it doesn't make much difference, one practice girl or four? And the truth is a great many of us don't need a practice girl, not even the first time.

RE: Sinead O'Connor condemns Irish State

Upbringing is more than the parents. There's an epidemic of male suicide anyway. And Sinead was right about the Catholic church and what about the victims of grooming gangs? Did they deserve what the authorities did to them because they didn't have the best parents?

It's unfortunate that those who have had the hardest life already will be abused and neglected because they've had a hard life. It gives people the excuse not to maintain standards, oh they deserved to be let down anyway.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

And I think this would be a good slogan for today's conservative: "We must not suffer metaverse".

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

And I can only assume this is where Meta would come in. A new world that has no such thing as democracy, human rights or even an independent thought simply supplants the rest of us. Another layer of internet in a society that's yet to come terms with the first layer. Where none of the laws work already and justice is a great big tyrannical charade.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

Thatcher split the working class and won the higher proles over to her cause.

But the neoliberals today split the middle class relegating the lower middle class into proles. Macron is providing for what is a very small but wealthier middle class. But can a democracy work when the middle class is that small? When the majority have no stake? Twice as many got rich out of Thatcher.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

And that's actually the difference between Macron and Thatcher. The early bird catches the worm. In the 1980s two thirds gained from eating the other third, and China wasn't seen as a serious threat, but now China is a threat and you're talking about a minority eating the majority. Neoliberals don't get the terms that they did when China was much more backward.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

Although for the sake of balance I must point out that the french are easily unhappy. Put the price of cheese up and they'll riot. Opposite of the Americans.

The truth is more in the middle. 2 out of 3 would be better off through revolution. Roughly two thirds have good reason to stop the future that's being mapped out.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

Even America is 50/50. A nation based on commercial cheeriness, lying constantly to appear happier and more successful, is 50% pessimistic.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

And we want to watch France closely. A general public where 82% see life getting worse, a president who tries to piss you off, and Zemmour with his girlfriend 35 years younger than him that frankly is a bit gross, a bit predatory.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

I mean anybody who has sounded like Trump since before 2008 can remember how difficult that used to be. And what's changed? The economy. You cannot be a rich liberal without being rich. Now the reason FDR won is because he respected what is now known as the basket of deplorables.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

India would be like Brighton if LGBT was here to check against population. At any rate sustainable growth in the west would involve turning away from liberals because they're now infanticidal maniacs, the sterility has been done to death, and letting India take over with that death force.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

The authoritarians of big capital are very soon going to turn the Chinese social credit score on the rest of us. And for what purpose? International cooperation could not even contain the pandemic. Not only is it too slow to act in the beginning we then could not stop the it ploughing down every man, woman and child listening to it's commands. To something that big we are the size of insects.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

I imagine it to be society where we have less but it's yours to do what you want with it. Trying to posit that as an alternative to getting more for less, but it'll all be decided up above. Greed and easy living now come with being told what to think and what to feel, that's plan A for the world.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

It's not like that for some of us. Why do some people work for a small business and not a big business? Why do people take the stairs when there's a perfectly good lift? People like to waste time and money for their own independence. It's not greed, it's rage against the machine. If the greedy had sense they'd remain in the EU.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

And either that or become a luddite. Smash technology to pieces but I can't see that happening. Not in this world. Maybe if we reach the stars and we have a planet for Asians, a planet for Jews, a planet for cyborgs, a planet for telepaths, and a planet for wearing a chastity belt driving around in an old-fashioned car

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

Either that or Elon Musk's neuralink. The only way for humanity to remain competitive is to become a cyborg. If you can't beat them, join them.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

The baseline is a world where we get more for doing less and this is why we don't collapse when we should. There wasn't a shortage of goods but a shortage of the lazy, the horrible and the stupid. 95% customer and 5% worker seems like the future when machines can do most everything better than you can.

RE: The worst crisis since 2008

In many ways I'm surprised it's not worse. Humanity is spending a fortune and not going to work. So what is delivering the goods? It is as though half the people were doing worthless jobs anyway.

The productive potential of technology must be enormous. Something is delivering the goods and it isn't the workforce, certainly not the western one. But what does that mean? Some might see it as a utopia but clearly we're emerging into a world where most jobs are charity cases based on messing about. The devil's makework for idle thumbs.

RE: Do women...impress you?

I'm impressed by the way they get about in heels and by the women's bathroom. You can judge society by its toilets and there was a carpet in there.

RE: Long covid

No but I don't really feel envy and grudges, resentment and wallowing etc. I get angry at the time and then that's the end of it.

RE: Prince Andrew may be bailed out by the Queen

And covid is without question a joke on intelligent young people who've been through a lot already. The greying babies want saving from flu so let's all take a drug that's not been properly tested. Are they for real? At least we now know how and why the Catholic church got away with it for so long. Talk about history rhyming. Right there for all the world to see.

I just hope that one day there is a truth and reconciliation committee. I hope that posterity comes after them for grooming 15 year olds to serve on the front lines of the army, and using dodgy data so that they can imprison and experiment on kids.

RE: Prince Andrew may be bailed out by the Queen

And this really sucks if you're from the bad side of town, or, you happen to be clever just genetically. Worst of all is to be both bright and disadvantaged. It's a terrible culture to live in if by both nature and nurture you seem older than you really are. Hardship and intelligence the sorts of things that make anyone mature for their age will feel very much patronised by today's society.

RE: Prince Andrew may be bailed out by the Queen

And I also think that's the basis of the show South Park. The kids being more mature than the adults. That's the funny thing about an infantilised world and I think the reason teenagers are treated like little kids is because the grown ups are nothing of the kind. History has never seen a generation this privileged, this sheltered and I think adults try to steal adolescence from teenagers so that they can rebrand adolescence as adulthood. South Park is a satire of remaining a baby your whole life.

RE: Prince Andrew may be bailed out by the Queen

And maybe it's a case of worlds collide. If the proles are mature for their age and the elite immature for their age that explains both the scarlet woman and Prince Andrew the manchild. She's quite worldly, and Prince Andrew certainly not worldly which is why he doesn't sweat.

RE: Prince Andrew may be bailed out by the Queen

You could say the same about squaddies and about mail order brides. The only consolation is that youngsters from bad backgrounds are not as naive as you think. They don't live in the same infantilised world as the more affluent and educated. They're behind the times which makes them more grown up than 2022.

RE: beware of angry snakes and venom!!!

That's because we spend a lot of time together. I don't know if you've seen snakes on a plane but the same proximity with a snake is actually quite a lot worse than being around people. Think of all the opportunity humanity has to do harm, but doesn't.
