RE: Would you rather vacation alone, with your family, or friends?

What do you do on holiday when you're alone?

RE: A tune in praise of our Lord

David Bowie. Word on a wing

RE: Share What You Are Listening To -- Part 99

Roxy Music. Mother of pearl

David Bowie. Absolute Beginners

RE: What do you do when you get upset?

Lose my temper if I can. Shout, shout let it all out. Unless it's a real trauma in which case I don't say a thing you'll just see me running around the lake and wondering if I could have been more kind to people. Maybe I didn't treat you quite as good as I should.

RE: Does anyone eat meat anymore?

Yes but I've never been a foody or understood why that's worth mentioning. You like to eat food? Wow what on earth are you going to do next the suspense is killing me.

So anyway because I don't really like food I still prefer meat which to me speaks volumes about the superiority of meat. Eating meat takes next to no time and is enough to sustain you throughout the day, the only drawback is going to the bathroom for about 30 minutes.

RE: JOHNNY DEPP TRIAL

One side sees political correctness as the lady doth protest too much makes it look like you've got something to hide. And the other side believes its lying eyes confirming all their deepest fears.

To be honest I don't think political correctness is even that political anymore. Really it is just business, all manners are fake and in business manners are super fake.

RE: JOHNNY DEPP TRIAL

The problem with political correctness is that it pisses everyone off. If you're the minority you'll discover that it is an illusion and the new boss is really the same as the old boss. And the old folks are pissed off because it looks like their state doesn't discriminate against minorities. Old folks take the kneeling at face value and they think it means that black kids won't get locked up for stealing a bun, and the younger end can see through that because they experience what actually happens. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

RE: JOHNNY DEPP TRIAL

Political correctness is about putting a rainbow flag outside charring cross police station. A mask for some of the vilest forces on earth like arbeit macht frei painted over the gates of Auschwitz.

RE: HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO MAKE A GOOD/GREAT ‘FIRST IMPRESSION’ (esp. in the dating game)?

Making a fool of yourself is humiliating for you but it is also entertaining for everyone else. So concentrate on everyone else. If you can put yourself in another person's shoes then tripping over your own shoe laces can be turned into a positive. Far more entertaining than embarrassing if you don't take yourself too seriously.

RE: HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO MAKE A GOOD/GREAT ‘FIRST IMPRESSION’ (esp. in the dating game)?

Don't really have much of a game unless it's rescuing a really bad first impression made by accident. Anytime you fall over in front of somebody, you did it to make them look. You did it beautifully and definitely not because you're a clumsy gawp, that's the last thing you are.

RE: Thread for Autistics.

I'm not dead against all the autism in the world and it's not men's fault that our ancestors spent so long fixated on their prey. A billion hours in the bushes determined to make the kill has left men transfixed by the things that are really there. Man is both more likely to be autistic and atheist for this reason but woman reason is the reason society hasn't burst into a big ball of flames. There's nothing wrong with moderation

RE: Thread for Autistics.

That's really what the populists are - Jack of all trades, master of none.

The progressives are something more like a caste system where the absolute enemy is an individual who can surprise you. Whatever their thing is, that's them all over. And this is male to a fault a man's world so not well-socialised.

RE: Thread for Autistics.

A bit more like a woman I suppose. There's a spectrum with women on the one side and machines on the other - and men fall somewhere in the middle. Even in politics you have this divide between the elite and the general person's union. The autistopians who want more technology and specialty versus the populists who want more fellow-feeling and familiarity even if it means having to clean your own toilet after work. There's one world that wants diversity across society so that the individual does the same thing constantly like the departments of a big corporation, and then another world that wants diversity in you. You do a bit of this and a bit of that even if it's outside your job description that's how life is when you're not raised in a cubicle.

RE: Thread for Autistics.

Or if not the comfort zone then two parents doing the same job. Two parents who both work with computers is a recipe for an autistic baby. Autism rises as people become more professional and specialized and less of a general person. What they used to call the rounded person is giving out to what I think of as spike-shaped people's the only real way to stop it is by being made to do things you wouldn't choose. To prevent autism we would have to make it mandatory to be familiar with other walks of life and go against the grain of the modern world. Like a real marxist I suppose. A scientist in the morning, a waiter in the afternoon, and a fishermen by night. To have many skills and many purposes bit more like the old days where everyone was more of an everyman. More man than machinery.

RE: Thread for Autistics.

There's Rainman autism and then there's my mummy left me alone with my tv for too long kind of autism. Comfort zone autism which isn't ancient but comes from the modern environment.

RE: Thread for Autistics.

Confusing I should expect but it depends what sort of autism you're talking about. My cousin Daniel has diagnosed in the 1980s autism where you can only talk to him about countdown and crisps. And then there's low level autism which is more about nerds doing what they want all the time from an early age, not being forced to do things they're afraid of by their dad etc, you could talk about anything with them - but remember it's a bit like Siri, what was literally said counts never what you meant never the spirit of something.

RE: Being authentic...

It helps if you leave school early after failing exams

RE: Have you ever been searched by the police?

Anyway I learned fairly early on not to trust the police unless you're a very rich man or look like an Aryan goddess. Anybody else must defend themselves, be able to fight.

RE: Have you ever been searched by the police?

Only after being attacked by three adults who broke into my home when I was a minor. Cuffed and searched in a pool of my own blood before the one competent officer on the force arrived at the scene screaming at the other officers that they're a twisted bunch of idiots. Words to that effect anyway

RE: Why are people so judgmental ? Are they either

Online? More than anything else it's the not having to look anybody in the eye. Seconded by the meat in the room sense that any person can and will be easily replaced.

And in real life it's the hard life although that can go either way. More of your best friend or worst enemy. Suffering can make you mean but it can also make you sympathetic, it can even do both. To know it feels is a double edged sword like the bullied often become a bully or a champion of the downtrodden - and not a lot in the middle not so much of the polite indifference that comes from privilege.

RE: Texas school shooting

Good and bad in everything mate

RE: Texas school shooting

It might seem not really related but even the Johnny Depp trial is a symptom of the problem. The plunging respect for humanity in an atrocity broadcast for public entertainment.

RE: If you had the opportunity to 'vacation' in space, who would you take with you, and why?

Is it possible to sell the ticket?

RE: For the world especially America....

It's a tough one. On the hand you could argue that parents need to be more professional like they needed to before but maybe it's the careerism and the making a name for yourself itself that does it. Maybe this type of modern parent is what creates the disposable teen.

RE: For the world especially America....

I don't know if kids knowing they're optional, knowing they could have been aborted, actually helps.

RE: For the world especially America....

I don't know. Yes I could I see that helping but also that might not be the answer. A bit like disguising a gas leak by leaving the window open. The true cause is the materially spoilt, emotionally negligent proper grown ups in society i.e. the narcissistic parent generation that kids now have to meditate to survive. Does a kid meditating seem right to you?

RE: What makes humans unique compared to other species?

Sensitivity. No other species minds about things like we do. A cat doesn't spend its days wondering how it all went wrong, it just is what it is.

RE: Abusive.......

To some degree I suppose but it's low-level intent. I see the human species as foolish more than malicious basically the same way I see myself. Exceptions exist but Im not a hero nor a villain.
