That's the way the world is going. You'll need a vaccine for covid and a computer to even spell the word health. Don't rely on yourself, that's the last thing you need.
But I would not punish Boris and the Colston four. Like Khrushchev and the thaw I wouldn't hold much against anybody after all the lies and abuses of an illiberal time.
I'm biased by a near total lack of envious thinking. I see life as unfair by definition almost expect them to be holding a party when they've ordered no parties. For me it boils down to how bad holding a party actually was and I think we've cancelled too much real life to appease the precious and cowardly from what is a relatively mild trauma.
Should we all follow a terrible order for the sake of fairness? Or is it better to disobey a terrible order when doing so makes unfair to everyone who followed the order?
It creates a bitter dispute between agreeableness and conscientiousness. Is it better to be fair or better to be right?
He foiled the worst instincts of the precious because the truth is we could have hid more throughout this pandemic. We've been a liberal country in a very illiberal time.
There is influence and influenced instead of compromise with what just happens. It's a cult niche. It's a negative development of my body, my choice. Historically we were forced into all walks of life. Like being forced to keep the baby is an antidote to narcissism
And then we have the influencer where one reality dominates all of its fanatics. A totally dependent relationship and imaginary connection, the closest thing we have to the fascists, living vicariously through someone else.
I suppose a bit more like coding. People are not going to "get" you, they're not going to judge by the "spirit" by what was said. Technical error will cause a breakdown of the machine it doesn't have the same tolerances of human intelligence.
More than the empathy triggered by dealing with a real human face it's the shared reality of the earth. We are down to earth so I can see where you're coming from. Which is what the internet struggles with; I can see where you're coming from. It becomes progressively more difficult to see the point of view of others.
I imagine that the term gaslight has come to prominence because of the internets lack of shared reality. We're all sat here on our own, only in a very minor sense are we connected. The role of shared reality is tiny, ordinarily your way and my way would be moderated by the way. Gaslight comes on because we are all scattered individuals.
My symptoms of the common cold have turned out to be the common cold. Seems like I'm never going to get the chance to use this vaccine, I've been licking the door handles.
My take is that ghosts are a substitute for a god. But I don't believe in a god. But I do believe in history. And I think that the more time you've lived in a prefabricated dwelling the more likely you are to believe in a ghost. The spirits rise out of air conditioning, the supernatural comes from the supreme inorganic.
As soon as they crop up plus about ten seconds to die down. The heat of the moment exaggerates offences but if you count backwards from ten you can avoid being a false witness. The heat of the moment lays it on thick.
One time that happened but I thought it was because she's from Brazil, and they were all like that. Fiery, combative and unreasonable. So aware of their own emotions where I was just being English. Completely repressing my own emotions.
And perhaps that's why there's such a taboo against alcohol. What is a drink if not a mistake waiting to happen? They've managed to bottle failure and sell it to people. Which to me is a very wise thing although not everybody agrees. More than perfection we need humanity.

Keeps out the truly malign forces of big bidet.
