I can’t agree more with the poet: we are the first judges of our own poems, cause we know better what they are about, so don’t wrack your nerves because of others’ critique, which may be biased in most cases, but if critique is constructive better give it a thought.

These words are on a large tapestry hung on the wall at my father's Optimist Club. I always try to live by them as I'm a natural optimist. Many a happy Saturday morning and summer evenings were spent with those who welcomed us with a smile and playing on the T-ball and baseball teams as well as competing in the local Soap Box Derby. In high school, summer evenings were spent working in the concession stand. I can still taste those blue coconut snow cones. :)
