I think the dynamics have changed a bit, you can meet somebody lovely off the internet in minutes. If you get a flat tyre on the way there and are a few minutes late, she's already got plan B sorted.
Yeah they all say- easy going and good sense of humour, then when you meet them they look like they've crawled through a hedge after staying awake for several days and they're pinging off their nut.
I hear a lot of stories, I suppose they could be true All about love and what it can do for you High is the risk of striking out, the risk of getting hurt And still I have so much to learn
Depends where you're from I guess. We do broadacre farming here, not much we can viably import from elsewhere. Coffee and chocolate are the exceptions, they require huge amounts of child labour to produce. We do gourmet chocky and coffee, about 4 times the price of regular stuff...
We actually already have programs where we factor in giving some to poor countries, but this is not actually overly popular here. Of course, nobody cares about medications on the PBS (government funded) we figure they can have a little suck on the government tit, but if aids/cancer victims appear to be taken advantage of thats not gonna fly.
I dont mind storage wars, but its getting a bit same old same old.
Which reminds me, I got a letter from the real estate today, inspection next week. Have to get rid of a few dead cats and some Elvis memorabilia. Maybe even spray some glen 20 around the place.
I think the real problem is disparity. People get into power, then award themselves heaps of medals and a chauffer driven bullet proof BMW, while everybody else starves. Wasting money on the military/civil war, then blaming drought and famine are also common themes. A lot of the time we are actually enabling this to go on and on, like in Ethiopia. Personally, I think these places might be better off being run by women, OK maybe not Mugabes wife...
Eliminating malaria allowing folks to lead more productive lives... Problem is that the places where malaria is an issue are not productive places. They generally dont have a welfare system, and have 9 or 10 kids instead hoping enough will survive to look after them in old age. There are not enough jobs or resources for all 9 or 10 at the best of times, its very harsh to say it like it is, the reality in no way matches the ideology.
Right on our doorstep, is medicine-resistant tuberculosis. Only a few years ago, a man from PNG brought his daughter to Australia for treatment for MR TB. He died from it, she also died from it after spending 18 months in isolation at Cairns hospital, many millions of dollars spent preventing it from spreading in Australia.
State and federal governments are always chopping and changing policy, it costs a lot of money having health facilities on the islands for hardly any voters, but if you dont have the facilities they'll try to take themselves to the mainland infecting everybody along the way. We have spent heaps trying to help PNG set up decent hospitals, all that happens is the head man gets a new landcruiser and the hospital still has dirt floors and no cooking facilities.
Then we have the issue, the more successful people, the "go-getters" are choosing to have less children or none at all. The less productive end of town are having very large families, intergenerational welfare dependence is a big problem these days.
On the one hand we wring our hands about overpopulation, while we're a whisker away from eliminating malaria...
I guess turning into stone was a real concern back in the day. Must have been very easy to scare people, just point to a pile of rocks and say- you wanna end up like him?
Jesus, I didnt realise he died. I thought he only turned into stone. But maybe that was Oedopus after he rooted his mum. Greek law is so confusing at times.
I should try to watch science fiction. I'm sure the lawn would get mowed, and my car an oil change etc... Pretty much anything not involving the telly would have great appeal all of a sudden.
Mental health is only of interest to the right because it's a threat. This is a criminal issue and the answer is fencing in people who are a danger, it's not about improving other peoples mental health it's purely selfish and self-preserving in motive. It's not about well-being and healthcare and prevention, it's about repressing the symptoms of the problem from a security point of view long enough for you to stay alive.
Thusly, its only tolerated by those on the left because they want their vote. Weak as piss if you ask me.
RE: Is real love hard to find these day's?
Welcome to my world... Maybe I should invest in run-flat tyres.
