More Important

Few things can annoy me more than people who think their cause is more important than others who are in a similar situation.

BLM comes to mind. It is not that I think that black lives don't matter. To me, when a white (or black) cop kills a black (or white) man in the USA, it is no different than when a black (or white) vagrant kills a white (or black) farmer in South Africa. The fact is that all lives matter. scold

Sometimes we are too fond of playing the race card when we cannot get our way otherwise. In my experience such a person either secretly resent who he is and really wish he was somebody else or otherwise he uses racism as a ruse to gain sympathy for his cause.

Using racism as a prop just takes the focus away from the real problem.professor

Human Rights Watch?
Surely you jest!uh oh
I do understand that Ten..

It is not that people are on the Palestine side...it is the way it seems to be praised..without condemning the atrocities...and some college students here..saying that it did not happen..

As a mother, when I see soldiers or citizens from any country laying in the streets injured or dead..it makes me sad for the families..

It is the Radical Extreme Muslim terrorists that I will never understand, as a human.
It is not limited to race...

I know many white people in my country that have lived together for years with 2 or 3 children...collecting money from the government..because she is an unwed mother.
I assume this comment is intended for me.

Yes. That happens here too. And young girls make babies which are passed on to grandparents to get children's grants. But these are poor people. Children are seen as revenue.

What I referred to are people who can afford to buy a house but simply won't. And yes, it is not limited to blacks, but it is predominantly black people. The whites make up more or less 10% of the population but you will find only one in a thousand whites living in informal settlements and they are really poor. They're not idling waiting for housing. They have nowhere else to go.sigh moping
Thanks Fargo for your reply. I think
1) Statistics can be misused
2) we can't conclude it's racism just cos one group do less good than another,
has to be investigated more deeply.
Like someone said here Geramany is bad on racism
but I suspect Norway is even worse.

That's it for me on questions of racism for now,
as this issue is not fully understood just by a line or two.
I feel pretty confident that the USA is far from the worst, and one more thing:
Donald Trump made the divide smaller, not bigger.
He is good for the blacks and latino too, trust me on that one.

Thanks for this. I could not have put it better.
Just for a while. Great seeing you too.hug wine
Americans tend to avoid anything outside continental America like the plague. Yet a huge number 'trust' Fox News, and swallow Donald Trump's absurd claims. Rejection by them says nothing about the actual credibility of Al Jazeera. Alternative views of the world are useful to those willing to think.
better take your own advice then,Mister Fargo!laugh
Eish, just when I thought I have had all the possible shìt on this blog the Donald Trump arrives.doh grin
Al Jazeera leans strongly away from the west and therefore biased against the west. Not trustworthy at all.

Fox News is, at the best of times, a Republican mouthpiece and I believe only the hardcore Trump supporters believe what comes out there. Murdoch will print anything, true or false, just for the sake of sensation. I cannot believe that anybody outside the Republican rightwing will take them seriously.
The Western media lean strongly to the West, and the American even more strongly to the American, and by your reasoning equally or more untrustworthy. Biased or not, the likes of Murdoch have enough influence and affect to act as king-makers at the margin.
As to the likes of BLM or other movements for other underprivileged, anything that can swing the scales more evenly is important. To right the balance even fractionally is a small victory.
@Catfoot "Few things can annoy me more than people who think their cause is more important than others who are in a similar situation"
Agreed. Politicians are likely to go with whatever is popular, the judicial system too because bills are prepared by politicians.
Take any example you like and you will find that priorities will shift to the popular causes resulting in other critical issues suffering financially because the focus has shifted.
Great , I sit in Africa that is neither fish nor flesh. So I'll stick to our own agencies. The few time I bothered with Al Jazeera the were of the mark. As for Fox News ... doh
Any decisions taken by any country that involve foreign affairs is self serving and in own interests.cool wow
