Would you hold it against me?Any native (and good non-native) English speakers will know that sentence can be read in two different ways, with different meanings.
Words are powerful, but that power can be both productive or destructive depending on the meaning of the author, or more importantly, how they are read by the reader.
This is especially true on a medium such as CS where the written word is the main means of communication.
Posts are sometimes misconstrued for a number of reasons. It could be simply misread; defensiveness; ego; current mood; agenda, etc., or any combination of the above.
Sometimes it is a good thing that the post is misinterpreted. I read one post last week and I went 'Whoooo,.. that is a dig! '
But the person to whom it was directed, read it completely differently and not as a negative against them .
But often, it is simply an innocent statement taken up incorrectly, and maybe not even related to the person who misinterprets it, and suddenly world war three ensues.
CS is a microcosm of the real world.

Last time someone said that to me I replied "yes..of course"!
Meaning I'd love it if they do.
I know...In the virtual world the written word is often misinterpreted. This is why one must be careful how it's written.
Eg. .The word you when meant in general..people often take it personally. This is why I try to avoid it by saying "we" or "one" instead.
Maybe take it that it's not about us , unless we know for a fact it is?
Unless they have such a large ego that it never occurs to them it could be about them.

Actually, I don't understand all that you're saying with this blog, but as for the title, "If you told me I had a beautiful body, or an out of shape body, would I hold it against you?" Heck yes... and rub and massage too.
I know it was, however I know what he is therefore my expectations are limited when it comes to him.

But if you write clearly, with good intent, then you can't be responsible for how they read it.
Can't help but compare profile photos with written text as well in context of the blog.. I think they should be clear as well..
