Que sera, sera

What will be, will be. Alles sal regkom. Things will work out. Go where the wind takes you.

On the other hand - my personal mantra is ‘if not now, when?’ and my favourite, ‘You know all those things you've always wanted to do? You should go do them.’

Conflicting philosophies. I’ve learned that what I want isn’t always what I need, and that sometimes I should stop pushing and wait to see where the road leads. But it’s hard!

There are comments about that, but they aren’t part of the blog because the blog is about personal philosophies and what works for you, even if it wouldn’t necessarily work for others. So skip the comments and add your own. Mix up those metaphors laugh

Right now, what I think I want isn’t working out. Time to stop paddling and wait for the next turn in the river. And hope, as always, there isn’t a waiting waterfall.

Que sera, sera.

I'm going to be rude and leave after I post this, as there is serious housework to do and that doesn't do itself while I sit cross-legged saying ommmmm. Okay, I never sit cross-legged saying ommmmmm. But it doesn't do itself.

I'll be back with coffee at some point, of course. coffee

Change

I was doing the same job for the same company for nearly thirty years. When it came to an end I expected it to be something that would take a lot of getting used to but that wasn't the case. Suddenly, my day in and day out carry on was different yet I slipped into the new situation completely seamlessly. Likewise, I lived with the same person for forty years and when that came to an end it was the same story. I find it surprising that a way of life that has gone on for so long and become so deeply ingrained in my sense of who and what I am can be moved on from so easily. It's not that I don't have any regrets or feelings of nostalgia about the past, I very much do, but even so, I can't quite get over how things can change so much and yet just feel normal. I just wondered if I was unusual in this or is it a common experience?

Sailing dream

Life changes constantly .
Boys are moving out this Sept with the new school year and I've decided I want to go sailing.
I've always wanted to go sailing. We've been looking for a nice sailboat 40 ft or more. I'm learning about the licences I need and I've also joined "Find Crew". I really would like to go to the west Indies but its not that cheap anymore to anchor or moor or even custom fees some countries you even pay when you have decided to depart. I think I will try the Greek Islands then maybe Canary Islands for winter. I'm not sure if it will really happen but it does keep my mind occupied and makes me stop worrying about my children. i never imagined there was so much involved in sailing. Youtube has kept me occupied watching other sailors and there adventures. Never thought it was that difficult to buy a boat and each country has different laws on deflagging a boat or even what a flag a certain country offers your boat.

Life is always surprising and I guess its up to us to find the good moments as the bad ones come alone.

Different seeing it in person

I grew up most of my life in a small rural area. Only recently, I moved to the city. In movies and on television there are many homeless people to be seen. They are pan-handling, huddled around a garbage can fire, or sleeping under bridges. On television, I really never thought much of them. After all, it is just a tv show...surely they are paid actors and actresses.

New to the city, I have ran across a few pan-handlers. It is illegal here but there are some that press their luck. I really do not think anyone really ever thinks to turn them over to the authorities.

I try to get my walk in at least 3 times a week. Tonight was one of those times. A chilly 57 degrees, but just warm enough for me to go walking in a short sleeve shirt. I knew after getting about half of my walk in I would be warm enough. I wish I would have worn my over shirt.

I do three laps around a 7 city block stretch and this is the first time I actually witnessed this is real life. There was an old man with nothing more than a paper thin wind breaker on sleeping on a bench. He had his head rested upon the cement arm rest. What could I do other than just look at him each of the three times I walked past him, wondering how one get themselves in such a circumstance.

I pondered....obviously it is a financial difficulty. But how? Is there a psychological issue with this guy? Is this guy lazy? Does nobody want to give this guy a chance? Has he given up on life? Maybe he wants to live that way? All I know, I wish I could have given him the shirt I did not wear with a couple bucks in the pocket. :(

a night on the town...

Well...inspired by another person having a night on the town right now laugh

Last night a buddy of mine Nick and I went out to the big city....a city of about 5000 people. laugh That is huge around here.

We both concluded it as being a successful night...laying the ground work. grin It started out at the oldest pub in town, been open since the late 1800's, with some chick talking about slitting my neck. rolling on the floor laughing I didn't do crap to her. She was kinda mumbling to me and I didn't hear what she said. Later she came over and starting rubbing herself on my buddy and I. She told me she wanted to dance with me...there was no dancing going on and....uh oh ....I just kinda left the area and later told my buddy that the slit your neck statement was a deal breaker. laugh She was kinda cute. My buddy and I were speculating of how beautiful she would be if she brushed her teeth in the last week or so, put on a nice dress, and maybe a touch of make up and maybe some contacts. wow ...she would have been smoking. ...she was a short little red-head with a nice rack disguised by her sweatshirt.

We left that place to go to another place. There a woman I recognized from poker came over and we started talking. He had another poker lady player with her and another friend. We all chatted for some time until they moved to the next bar...telling us to come with them. Well, we were heading that way anyway. Don't make any mistakes, not really our types. But, we went to the next bar and we just walked by them. cool ...we didn't think they noticed us. laugh ....naw...they did. rolling on the floor laughing The non-poker player lady came over and asked why we didn't go by them. hmmm ...I said there were no seats over there and we were going to go over there. blushing laugh She didn't buy it. She started rubbing up to my buddy...while two 20 something chicks sat to my left. grin I started chatting with them. One of them recognized me...and they shared a sip of their drink with me. Success! Laying some ground work. laugh

Anyway, my buddy and I decided to go back to the bar where the psycho woman was at. Well...the one that was rubbing up to my buddy wanted to go with us. All the time, my buddy was giving me that look like...please rescue me. rolling on the floor laughing What could I do? I told her, sure...you can come with. I got all the pigs and shit out of the back of my car.

The moral of the story...it is nice when women approach men. More women should do that. :)
