Carpe diem - seize the day

We've all experienced upheaval and reversals, I think. When we get married, we assume it will be forever. When we get a good job with a stable company, well, we no longer assume it will be until retirement, but we do think there’s a good few years in it. Even the small stuff - when we go to the shops, we assume they will have the products we want. We’re annoyed when they don’t, and yet millions live without shops and without even the basics we take for granted. Other people. We’re alright, Jack.

Life isn’t straightforward. We’re shocked when terrorists blast into everyday lives and end or disrupt them, but even normal life can change in a heartbeat with just one letter from the doctor. Someone can die in a car accident, or lose a leg in a fun outing to an amusement park, or be shot at an office party, and we suddenly realize life is not just one foot in front of the other and that if we follow the rules everything will be okay.

When life shows its teeth, priorities change. Things that mattered suddenly seem unimportant. Things on the to-do list change their order, sometimes dramatically. When tomorrow is no longer a given, does it change what do you intend to do with today? Would it / should it?

Like your coffee black? You may be a psychopath...

Christina Sagioglou, study author and psychologist at the University of Innsbruck in Austria, and her colleague Tobias Greitemeyer, sought to investigate how bitter taste preferences may be associated with antisocial personality traits. Approximately 1,000 people with an average age of 35 were analyzed in two separate experiments.

Is it only me?

It seems like every time I either am taking a leak, taking (or leaving) a crap, or in the shower or tub....the phone rings. Otherwise, the phone never rings. laugh

Lets sort this out for once and for all.

OK, I'm hearing a lot of people want to know the truth about tooth gaps. There is plenty of anectdotal evidence and hearsay about the matter, but apparently some are sticklers for facts and details.

going on what I've heard, they absolutely love it and totally go off. I'm pretty sure its true otherwise why would people say it?

Money isn't everything

At least, that is what we are told. Technically, that statement is correct. There are birds, trees, grass, air, ground, water....maybe even love too. Maybe....I suspect.

On my trip up to a pool tournament, my mind got thinking about money. And without money, one would not be able to do a whole lot. Virtually everything revolves around money. It is getting so you need to pay for water to drink...in some cases...you need to.

Now, what about that old saying, money cannot buy love.

Let me think about how love develops.

The clothes I wear cost money.
The comb I use cost money.
The soap I use cost money.
The shoes I wear cost money.
The razor I use cost money.
The car I drive cost money.
The insurance cost money.
The gas cost money.
The safe tires on it cost money.
The heat in my house cost money.
The electricity cost money.
The food I eat cost money.
The house itself cost money.
The full mouth of teeth cost money.
The haircut cost money.
The scissors cost money.

So....directly...yes...I agree....money don't buy love.

But it sure as hell facilitates in it developing.

Talking with a friend...

Two men decide, hell...it has been 25 years since we went to a strip club together, let's do it. So they jump into the car and head out.

Along the way, they reminisce about the old days. The man driving the car brings up the story the friend never likes to talk about...but the driver loves bringing it up because it gives him a chuckle. Hey Bert, do you remember when you stole my car? lol Son of a b*itch, you always have to bring that sh*t up. The driver just busts out laughing and that conversation goes on for ten minutes. After some other old stories and about 20 minutes later, they see the red lady shaped neon light. Both with smiles, they proclaim, "we are here."

They both walk in. There are about a total of 10 people there, and that includes the three ladies working, the bartender, and that includes Bert and the driver.

Bert is a little hesitant, kinda feeling insecure...the driver suspects. He chooses a seat at the bar as farthest away from the stage. The driver is like, "screw this...lets go sit right next to the stage at that table." Ber is like, "whatever man."

The first younger lady walks up and the two friends start up some shallow chit chat. I mean, they have never been in a strip club in 25 years and here is an attractive half naked lady approaching. What do you really say in a situation like that. Not to mention, Bert is already nervous. He left his girlfriend at home...actually, she told him he can go out with his friend. But, I question if that included going to a strip club, even though in the past, she already said that she would accompany the friends. Bert took that as a green light for the current two friend's visit.

life.......battery......yin/yang

Reading further about Eastern Mysticism, I am at the section speaking about the Chinese and the yin and the yang. The symbol that represents it is very enlightening. The full circle, if you will (cyclical motion)...the interconnected of everything in the universe, the polar opposites...with each leading into the other, the necessity of each existing for the universe to be.

I have thought of it as like a single cell battery.

They say the yang (white) represents man, while the dark represents female. The polar opposites. So many differences between man and woman, not one is better or worse than the other.

But, like the battery with its positive and negative poles. In order for the usefulness and the life of the battery to exist, both poles must be used.

So, for humans, both poles must be used....for life and usefulness. The man being rational and the woman intuitive. ....together...they make....

This from the Chinese, dating back thousands of years.

We are suppose to be different.

just some thoughts.....

Of course, the yin and yang represents more than just man and woman...but everything with opposite poles.
