Notoriety

What is the value of having ones picture on a piece of US currency and should we be concerned that we are now posting a non-president on our twenty dollar bill (or at least should be in about 10 years)? It’s certainly not a precedent since Susan B. Anthony graced the one dollar coin and perhaps there is a difference there, but certainly not a precedent. The question around the breakfast table at my little eatery seems to be and extraordinary number of people that simply don’t know who don’t know who Harriet Tubman is or why she is more deserving than Andrew Jackson to grade the twenty dollar bill.

Personally, I am a lot less concerned about there being a woman or man on our currency but I am a little concerned about posting anyone that has not held a significant office. A president and prominent political figure would seem to be more fitting. Did they ever consider putting FDR on a bill? He was the last president to serve three terms and God knows, his accomplishments speak for themselves.

Don’t get we wrong; I have nothing against Ms. Tubman, I simply don’t think her achievements rise to being on a piece of Federal currency. I would support having her statue on the DC Mall right next to the Lincoln memorial or even a holiday named after her, but it seems to me that the face on the currency should represent those that we hold in the highest regard and represent the nation as a whole, not necessarily a special interest. Before you call me bigot, do tell me how many Irish, German, Japanese or Jewish people of noteworthiness were not included? My point is that currency should not be a symbol or anything other than the strength and integrity of the meaning and value behind the currency. For that matter, I think that many would consider Martin L. King Jr. in higher standing that Ms. Tubman, but then again, that’s just my opinion. Actually, since the Native Americans where here first, should we have more of their faces on our currency … I mean beyond the Indian head nickle? How about more than one face? Something like Crazy Horse, Chief Gail, and Sitting Bull grouped together and a picture of the battle of the Little Bighorn on the back? Certainly would inspire a few more interesting conversations.

Or maybe we should copy the Chinese and put beautiful renderings of majestic scene’s on the face … you know, to have a more calming effect on those shelling out their money for those overpriced speeding tickets, or TAXES!!! Yeah, I’ll bet the IRS would be in favor of that one. How about being like the Peso where the number darn near stretches across the entire thing …. Not to suggest OUR currency is becoming worthless. In fact, with technology being what it is, just how much longer will paper currency survive? Hard coins would make counterfeiting harder and a roll of quarters in your fist helps fend of the world be robber than a fist full of twenty dollar bills.

Well, any way we go, there is bound to be controversy; after all, many of the states in the deep South are still wrestling with removing the old confederate stars and bars, removing statues of confederate hero’s from their state houses and apparently trying to repaint history to make this appear to be a much “kinder & gentler” nation. Wait, wouldn’t that make a great government slogan? Oh no, that’s right; that was one of the first George Bush’s proclamations; after which we have had two wars, a hell of a high murder rate among young black men, and the lowest rating of the government and the congress since it’s original formation.

Sorry, time to run, got to get ready for the upcoming battle between The Donald and Hillary ….. We should consider putting their pictures on the penny. One on each side. Yep, that’s the ticket and since it’s not even worth what it costs to produce, it certainly seems fitting!

Because the glove didn't fit, they had to acquit...

OJ Simpson died from cancer this week. All the haters got another chance to bring up how they believed he murdered his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. The pair were stabbed to death outside Brown's condominium the night of June 12, 1994.

Prosecutors thought the gloves found on the scene were among the strongest evidence because DNA tests showed blood on them. In the courtroom, Simpson struggled to get the gloves and his defense attorney Johnnie Cochran, proclaimed “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.” Simpson was ultimately found not guilty.

If O.J. didn't kill Nicole and Ronald... who did??
All the emphasis was targeting O.J. and no one else. It was him or... nothing.

30 years later... was something missed?
I recall reading his son was jealous of Nicole's relationship. He worked in a restaurant as a chef and had access to an assortment of knives. There was a gate to the residence that had to be scaled and O.J. Simpson with many football injuries wasn't capable of getting over the fence, but his young son... probably could.

Sure O.J. acted like a fool trying to evade the police and all the other drama that ensued. Factually, O.J. may not have done it, but it's my opinion, he sure knew who did.

While there was no news of him being in hospice, his death (of prostate cancer) at age 76 came as a surprise. For those who were hoping at some point, he would reveal a fact (before he died) that didn't turn up in the courtroom. A confession didn't happen.

The French Treat

Judging from the events of the last few days, it may fall to France to issue the rallying cry for all of Europe. The Arab Spring may indeed be now followed by the French Fall, but with a bit of a twist. ISIS has been picking a fight across the globe and with the newest editions of France and Russia, they might have finally taken on a bit more than they can chew. My main question is, how much will be enough?

The Russian KGB was once so completely feared that they enjoyed several decades of freedom from any harm to their citizens, then they got a bit lax and have been the target for a few foreign extremists. The latest downing of one of their commercial jets would certainly be all the provocation that Mr. Putin would need to declare his own outright war is ISIS as the French President suggested today. The main question is if Europe can collect enough serious minded countries to go out and do the deed. Certainly there are many conflicting interests among the various countries, but if they could be put aside, even for just a year, it might just be possible to irradiate ISIS from the earth, but, what exactly would that take?

The same was said about the Nazi’s as well as a few other choice countries, but try as they might, nobody has been 100% successful at a complete eradication. Why? There will always be sympathizers and children grow up remembering the fates of their parents, only too willing to seek revenge. To absolutely wipe out the possibilities would mean to destroy every living relative, near and distant of every ISIS member. You will recall Hitler’s attempt as a failure and there have been a few others along the way. The simple fact is that it is impossible to completely wipe anyone’s religion, sect, heritage or whatever you want to call it, from the face of the earth. If nothing else, it gives the historians more to study and with knowledge comes the desire to revive and give rebirth to an otherwise thought dead culture.

So, how do you solve this seemingly endless dilemma? The starting point has to be to confront the leadership of the opponents and in this case, there are many of them, each with their own opinion of the reasons for the start of the “cause” as well as their own particular spin on the same. No, it certainly won’t be easy and could literally take centuries to resolve, if it can be at all. Let’s not forget that for some of ISIS, this is now a business, used to rob, cheat, and steal from other Muslims as well as the other local religions. For others it is their occupation that, once eliminated, they have nothing else to fall back upon and who wants to give up what they were born, breed, and trained to do? And lastly, there are those that are true believers. They will be the least likely to lay down arms and accept a peace for there are convinced that the intifada is real and endless until they kill or convert every person with an opinion other than their own. It certainly isn’t new or recent. History suggests that the first intifada was a Palestinian uprising against the Israeli occupation of the West bank of Gaza which lasted from 1987 until the final conclusion in 1993 with the signing of the Oslo Accords. Since that time there have been a constant stream if incidents and issues which has spread to other sects until today.

It appears to me that all of this seems intended to drive the races and religions back into their own separate boarders and countries and discourage any travel between them, but then again, in this day and time that is certainly not very likely.

Adjusting for the cost of inflation I would have to say that this is the 64 Trillion Dollar Question and despite many of the silly suggestions like “nuke em all”, there certainly is no simple answer other than there will most certainly be more to come …..

"I LOVE YOU IS THE LAST WORD FROM A MAN"

By now most women have not yet realised that the last words that a man who is truly in love to a woman will tell her from their first encounter or meeting, even haven't dated for less than two years is "i love you baby".

Why, a man always keep his options open, that is to say if it turns out not to go well. This is one of the main reasons why women are more angry and frustrated when a split up happens. To the man, he was in a hidden love, but preferred to secure his heart from being wounded by an eventual crack down.

O! yes i did love him truly,a woman shouted to her friend, but you people could not let me enjoy my love. It's hard to find such men now our days, especially as women are growing in numbers as an uncontrol destructive wind snow.

That is why i couldn't expressed my true love to her,Jack exclaimed to his friends,"i preferred to be myself", because her friends and family members didn't want our relationship. They thought she merited a bloke who can do everything for her.Damn!

Hello 'Dorise', her friend Sarah called,it's been a long time since you splitted with Jack, why are you still single? Well! My friends and Family members, could not let me love or express my love, and now i am some kind of confused!
But i just heard your best friend Lynda said you depended on jack for everything! Cool mistake! Most women now our days are still depending on men. Then what was women emancipation all about?
Lynda, did you know all the time i spend with Jack, he never told me he loved me. Do you think he loved me?
Well i will suggest let's focus to the future for the next jack, you've been since single and lonely! My friend! to be single and lonely is too stressful! and when you are in love, you got so many friends with clumsy advises! What a game, i think i got it, i don't need any advice about love!Even riches cannot advice me, but my feelings.

Patirotic

I have always been very patriotic and I always fly my flag on days dedicated to patriotism. I love the Star Spangled Banner, and I cannot count the times I have sung it, I have played it , or the number of times I have conducted it ( I am a retired Band Director). A few days ago I came apart, I heard a female MURDER my favorite national anthem. In her vocal interpretation, in which she warbled around what was supposed the melody, was thoroughly disgusting, to me it was vocal graffiti on a public and government entity. If I was to spray graffiti on the White House or the National Capital Building ,I would be arrested for defacing the property. I have heard others do the same at ball games and I think there should be a law against the degradation of the anthem. I know there will never be a law to contain that sort of treatment, after all , look at what the Republican Supreme Court stated about it being alright to burn the flag of the United States. (conservative?? - seems overly liberal to me!) frustrated very mad studecar (Larry)
