While this is possible, it is unlikely. Unless if you have a static IP address, you are too elusive on the Web. Every time you log on with your ISP, you are assigned with a new IP address that was randomly selected from a large pool of addresses. The probability of getting the same IP address next time is rather small and a possible hacker who was busy trying to get into your PC, has lost you. He will have a hard time to find you again.

Condensed to a small scale, you get two kinds of hackers on the net. One is the ankle biter who has nothing better to do. He is the villain who will delete your data files just for the hell of it. If he is smart enough, he’ll install a script on your hard drive to delete your system files next time you start your machine. He found you by accident, he’ll do his thing and scoot off without even wondering who you are. A pain in the a**, but nothing that cannot be overcome by keeping a proper backup.

The other one is more dangerous. I call him the cyber spy. He wants information and normally he wants large volumes of it. Unless if you have very important data on your machine or something specific that he (or his client) may be interested in, he will not find your machine attractive.

What is the danger then? Because this is the scoundrel who will hack the Gmail, Yahoo, or Facebook servers. Those servers have large volumes of personal information (about you too) that can be sold to mailing companies. Or scammers will use the information to scam you and your contacts with the information they gained by reading your emails. They will not advertise their presence on the server, as they want to come back for more info later. A tip here is never to leave any information on the mail server. Use a mail client like Outlook Express or Thunderbird to download your emails to your PC and keep all your contacts on your PC. Leave nothing personal on the mail servers.

And CS? Will they be hacked? I suppose it is possible that some have tried, we won’t know and they won’t tell us. However, CS keeps preciously little useful personal information about us and data collectors won’t find it lucrative to spend the time hacking it. If your personal profile was hacked, you will probably find the security breach closer to home. Keep your passwords safe and secret.

Most hackers gain access to your PC via a user account that does not have a password. Make sure that every user account on your PC is password protected. You cannot prevent hackers from gaining access to your PC. It is like protecting your house against burglars. If they want to get in, they will. You can only make it difficult for them. A hacker needs time to hack a PC. Don’t give him that time. Don’t stay online while you go to the supermarket.

As a consolation, your PC is a low priority target. It will only attract the ankle biters. There is nothing to gain by hacking it. It is the fat web servers, hosting large databases that are at risk. Thieves won’t break into houses where they don’t expect to steal something valuable. Even Robin Hood robbed the rich. There was nothing noble about that; the poor had nothing worth stealing.

I guess nobody likes to take the blame if it can safely be shifted onto somebody else. It is normal human behavior. The further we can shift the blame, the better. We try to get as may people as possible between us and the blame.

Sometimes, when there is no way out, we buy face by taking half the responsibility. It is just to say: “Look, I’m not responsible. Somebody else is to blame but he does not want to own up.”

And when all the fingers point at you and there is no way out, we play noble and take the blame square on ourselves. Nothing noble there, were just making martyrs of ourselves while trying to show others how just we are.

We’ve been like this since the beginning of time. It is interesting to note who is blamed when Adam and Eve appears before God after screwing up big time.

Eve has no problem. She can blame the serpent. She does not take co-responsibility. It was the serpent alone.

Adam however, has a problem. He had no dealings with the serpent. Other than himself, he only has his wife to blame. But does he do that? Oh no, he’s way too bright for that. He shifts the blame straight onto God. He Said: “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree.”

A wise man Adam was indeed. What right-thinking man is going to jeopardize his next nookie by snitching on his wife?

The Earth, the Sun, and the Moon were created sometime last week with the physical appearance of being billions of years old. In fact the entire universe was created sometime last week. I’m not too sure on which day it was. It is impossible to distinguish between what memory is real and what was created sometime last week. Everything we can recall before then, are illusions created sometime last week.

Our memories, history books, fossils, tree rings, light already on the way from distant stars, and so forth were all formed at the time of creation, sometime last week, and in such a state that causes them to appear to be much older.

Now, if all this happened sometime last week, then the memory of Darwin and everybody else must have been left with us for some reason. Was it to educate us… or to mislead us? And what about the ‘forbidden’ knowledge like genetic engineering & artificial insemination that we also received with the creation, sometime last week? Is it to be used or is it another Pandora’s box? (Am I alone in seeing some resemblance between Pandora’s box and a tainted fruit somewhere in the middle of a garden?) What other terrible pestilences can still befall us?

Of course, it is just another theory that is impossible to proof or to disproof. It only serves to demonstrate that our observations may not always sit well with ‘reality’. Who can tell what is real and what is virtual?

Absurd? Not really. More than half the earth’s population already believes that it happened this way. With grown trees, some in blossom and others bearing fruit, everything ready to serve their purpose on Earth. They only disagree about it happening sometime last week.

But the question that bugs me most, from a both philosophical and a scientific angle, is that if we cannot proof it in any satisfactorily way that it did not happen sometime last week, how can we be so sure that it did not happen 6000 years ago? Or alternatively, how do we know somebody did not quit his game a few minutes ago to restore us to a previously saved position?

What I and a lot of others see is a huge corrupt political force out there that are trying to run up anything as far as trumped up charges go. These people against Trump have an agenda. They know that Trump has a good shot at winning the general election in 2024. A lot of people including myself feel that the numbers in the swing states back in 2020 didn't add up, and there was a lot a suspious activity that went down through the middle of the night with the counting of votes.

A lot of us are seeing the ugliest that these people will go to go after Trump using every source to their advantage while corrupting the justice system for their disposal. What we are witnessing is a two tier justice system.

These people that are all involved in going after Trump that are employed by the government know that if Trump wins in 2024, there will be pay back by Trump. These people are scared that he will win, and with what happened with the 2020 election, was actually a stolen election. It's going to be harder to pull off stealing the 2024 election this time around, and they know it. That's why we're seeing this circus going on with all these charges from this corrupt bunch of people. There's a reason Christie is running. He was encouraged to by Trump's foes. His job is to be a thorn in Trump's side and continue trying to run him down.

Christie is bought and paid for. The more you see these type of people trying to do everything they can to prevent Trump from running, the more Trump's numbers continue to rise in the polls. A lot of people see the injustice being done to Trump. The ones who can't see it is because of their refusal to because of the hatred they have towards Trump. This is my opinion!

One thing I will never trade my country for is the right to freedom of speech and the press. Many more reasons but these two items come first.

I don't know about most countries in the world but I am aware of so many that won't allow this freedom.

I just want to thank this site for such a liberal policy in the conduct of any subject that I'm sure can't be tolerated in most countries.

Dershowitz: 'Never Believe Anyone Who Is Not Cross-Examined'

Retired constitutional law professor Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax on Tuesday that to be credible, witnesses must always be cross-examined, and that none of the Jan. 6 committee hearing witnesses has been.

''As a professor of criminal law for many years, and as one of the most experienced litigators, never believe anyone who is not cross-examined,'' Dershowitz said on ''The Chris Salcedo Show.''

''And none of these [Jan. 6 committee] witnesses are cross-examined.''

'It's as if a basketball team was sent out on the court, and the other team is held back and not allowed to present its defense of the players,'' he continued. ''It's one-sided. Don't believe it.''

Dershowitz said that the House select committee tasked with investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol building breach would have been much more credible had it accepted the Republicans initially selected to serve on the committee.

''They would have asked hard questions, they would have cross-examined, they would have presented contrary evidence and then the American public could make a decision,'' he said.

Instead, the hearings are being conducted in an entirely partisan way, Dershowitz said, much as the House Un-American Activities Committee hearings were.

He said that the goal of the Jan. 6 committee is to ensure that former President Donald Trump cannot run for president again.

''Although I voted against President Trump twice, I want to see a fair process,'' said Dershowitz, a self-proclaimed liberal Democrat. ''I want to see a fair election. I want to see no partisan misuse of House committees.''

Earlier in the show, Dershowitz said that when he watched the Jan. 6 committee hearings, the discussion revolved around threats that were made to people during the events of the day.

In light of the threats to conservative Supreme Court justices and their families over the potential overturning of the landmark 1973 abortion case Roe v. Wade, Dershowitz said that ''it’s so hypocritical.''

''Threats only seem to matter to Democrat politicians if they're directed against them, not if they're directed against people that they oppose,'' he said. ''We shouldn’t tolerate a double standard: A threat is a threat, violence is violence, no matter who it is directed against.''
