The Hunting Racket

The next time when you walk into some fat cat’s home to see the skin of a large antelope on the floor with the head mounted against the wall, complete with a few framed photographs of him posing with a hunting rifle, standing with one foot on the fallen animal, think again. He may have bought all of it.hmmm

While some of the people (from local and overseas) coming on a one-week hunting safari are experienced hunters, the majority of them have never hunted in their lives. All that they’re interested is having the trophies with tangible ‘proof’ that they shot the animal. Some of them even believe that hunting large antelopes is a cakewalk after having fired at humans with an automatic assault rifle in a combat situation.doh

But there is a vast difference between hunting kudu and hunting humans. Unlike humans, who drop to the ground when wounded, the kudu will run off. He’ll return with a wide arc and wait for you somewhere next to his own track. He knows that you will come after him and if you run into him unawares, he will kill you. At a close distance, a rifle is quite useless.help

To protect them against their own stupidity, inexperienced hunters are not allowed to hunt alone. They are assigned to a guide who is an experienced hunter. When the rookie aims and fire, the guide shoots as well to make sure the target goes down. And often the carcass only has one bullet hole, guaranteed to have come from the guide and not the ‘hunter’.scold

All that remains is to take a few photos of the ‘hunter’ posing over his kill, and the next day he goes home while his trophies are being processed and readied for export. And a few months later, when you walk into his house, you can admire the results of his African safari on the floor and against the wall.wow

I’m not a trophy hunter, but it annoyed me to look on while two American tourists claimed my kills. Aw well, they paid for it and I got the meat, so I should not complain too much.mumbling

If this is not a racket, I don’t want my name.uh oh

This Blog Does Not Allow Reading!

The member has chosen to disable the reading of this blog.devil

I never comment on blogs if they don’t allow comments. It is only fair to respect the wishes of the blog maker.idea In fact, I don't even bother reading them. If I cannot comment on a blog, I’m not really interested in the contents. Therefor I expect people to honor my wish by not reading this blog, but you may comment off the topic as usually.giggle

I’ve been wondering if CS won’t see it fit to give us another button to prevent the reading of a blog. I’m sure some people will use it. I can imagine that it will drive some or our members crazy to know the contents of the blog if it cannot be read.laugh

It could be a very handy feature if you want to vent an opinion that is so radical or so personal that you don’t want to splash it all over the blogs. It should not interfere with the comments in any significant way, as a large group of people doesn’t bother to read the blogs before they comment in any way. I mean, who needs a blog to comment? That is of course providing that it allows comments, but I cannot see much purpose in blocking both reading and commenting.confused

And maybe CS can give us another button on the blog list to filter out blogs that don’t allow reading and/or commenting. Then everybody can be happy. We cannot complain about what we don’t have to look at, can we? But then some people… Oh Catfoot, just shut up!foot in mouth

As an afterthought, maybe a ‘Critique’ category for blogs in that dropdown list when we post blogs. It appears to be a very popular topic at the present time.wow

Methinks if you criticize those who criticized somebody else, it makes you a hypocrite. Stealing from a thief does not make stealing noble and telling a lie to a liar does not amount to the truth. It is like adding two negative numbers. You end up deeper in the red. Two wrongs do not make a right.doh

Hmm, I think something in the previous paragraph defines me as a hypocrite as well. I have deleted it and I deny that it ever existed. But it does not matter anymore; you never saw it because this blog does not allow reading.tongue

When is a thief a thief?

For how long can we call a thief a thief? When somebody was caught stealing we call him a thief. If he’s sent to jail, we still call him a thief. But can we continue to do so when he’s paid his debt to society? Or is it once a thief, always a thief? confused

One can argue that being a thief indicates a flaw in character. It is probably true but once the person had been punished, is it fair to hold it against him for life? dunno

For reasons I can perfectly understand employers are reluctant to employ people with a criminal record but is it the right thing to do? Are we not forcing him back to stealing when we refuse to give him some way to earn an honest living? doh

Many years ago I employed somebody like that twice a week to work in my garden. That was way below his abilities; he was a chef before. I guess working for the much lower wages of a gardener frustrated him because one day he absconded with my electric drill, jigsaw and angle grinder. very mad

Everybody said it was my own fault as I knew he was a thief - which may be partly true but I say if he was properly and gainfully employed in what he was trained to do, this would not have happened.scold

How can we ever rehabilitate criminals if we cannot accept them back into society? Should we not take some of the blame when such a person becomes a habitual criminal? How else can he survive in this world if nobody wants to give him a chance to prove himself?mumbling

Political Interference

Need I say more?

Oh, but I will...

A disgruntled judge going after Trump for Biden and the democrats. Be hard to prove that Trump knew he lost. Another dumbest charge added on to all these other dumbest charges.

It's all politics. They're bringing it onto Trump now all because he's the frontrunner. The demo are scared, that's why they're using their two tier justice system.

What goes around comes around!.

The Telltales Of A Liar.

I was brought up to see the good in people and as a result, I have been deceived and lied to more than often. I was always prepared to believe a person until given enough reason not to believe him any more. scold

But this is no longer so. I don’t know exactly when this change came about but it was with some mild shock that I came to realize that I no longer trust people. Sometimes I even doubt people who had never given me reason to do so.sigh

Of course, I never tell people that I don’t believe them; nor do I alert them by probing for the truth. A liar at ease will soon betray himself.conversing

Having been a college lecturer for more than 20 years I had to listen to countless excuses why a task was not completed in time or why a lecture was missed. I did not take such lies personal; they were gambling with their own futures, not mine. Being the keen observer of people that I am, I learned the telltales of a lie with time.professor

Liars will often place extra emphasis on the denial by the use formal language and will unconsciously send signals of anxiety by adjusting a tie or touching the hair. They may unconsciously smile when they believe that they have deceived you again. Sweating may also be a sign but the person may just me nervous.dunno

They tend to give too much information in an effort to cover up their lies. They will have problems repeating the events around the lie in reverse sequence because it did not happen that way.blah

They will often repeat the entire question before starting to reply to it. This is to buy time to think about what to say. A person speaking the truth will maintain eye contact for about 60% of the time while a liar will often keep eye contact for much longer in an effort to create an image of honesty.uh oh

True emotions ‘leak’ through the best disguise when lying and is best witnessed when a person nods his head while denying something or shake it when confirming. Your body will often betray a lie. Liars often change their vocal tone when lying and will be hesitant in their speech.dancing

A liar will subconsciously point his feet to the exit and will attempt to place physical barriers, (like water jugs or glasses) between himself and his questioners.hole

Unlike a liar, an honest person – when falsely accused – will be furious. However, they will still be co-operative and helpful while interrogated.innocent

You will probably never see all these signs at the same time but when you see two or three the warning lights should flash. More than that and you can safely assume that you are being lied to. However, knowing that you are being lied to, is only part of the problem. Getting to the truth is another matter and this is where I play dumb and wait for the truth to surface.wow

An Unfair Advantage?

If you think that attractive people have it easier then you are absolutely correct. Being attractive is an advantage that should not be taken lightly.scold

Research has proved that attractive people are perceived to be smarter, more successful, more dominant, more sociable, more trustworthy, more pleasant, and mentally more stable than less attractive people are.doh

It is said that a good-looking child gets more attention from his parents than his/her uglier siblings do. Scientists believe that parents unconsciously spend more time with their more attractive children because they are seen as better genetic material.shock

Teachers show preference to more attractive learners as they see them as more promising. Because they get more attention, they work a bit harder, and their work is graded a bit more lenient, they have a better chance of getting bursaries.professor

Attractive job applicants have a 30% higher callback rate for a second interview. Attractive employees are seen as more valuable as they are thought to project a more favorable image of the company. As such, they usually earn up to $5000 more P/A compared to their less attractive colleagues. So yes, it pays to be attractive.laugh

When charged with a crime, an attractive accused is more likely to be perceived as not guilty. However, when found guilty of embezzlement, swindling, or fraud, attractive people are mostly punished more severely. Justice is not blind, merely biased.giggle

But all in all, an outer appearance is but skin-deep and must perish at some stage while the inner beauty will prevail. If you are not attractive, do not despair for you are sure to have other assets to offset the unfair advantages of a pretty face.flirty

DATING or SOCIAL SITE

This is an open blog seeking thoughts and opinions about what CS is really all about.

It is advertised as a dating site with many other features.
But I ask, isn’t it really just a social site with some dating features.

Just as Facebook and Twitter are social sites. There has been success in some from those sites getting together and dating, even getting married.

Let’s break down what makes a social site.

A social site is a place where people can meet and make friends through communication over the World Wide Web. Where games, puzzles, communication publicly or privately, a collection of members that can interact in so many different ways, A place where people can meet and share life experiences and make new friends as well as catch up with friends they haven’t seen for a while, Somewhere they can post pictures and tell stories, tall and true, A place where people can interact on a daily basis. Isn’t this CS?

What is so different between CS and Facebook, Twitter, even LinkedIn or any other social networking site?

Should we just consider CS a dating site that offers more than other dating sites, or should we view it as a Social Site that offers more than other Social Sites?

Advertisers are equally important to both Social Sites and Dating Sites, or do advertisers pay more because a site specialises in Social networking or Dating?

How many Dating sites allow debate about various topics such as Capital Punishment, Religion, Same sex marriages and so forth? Yet social sites encourage this type of interaction.

How many Dating sites have extras such as a poets corner, forums, blogs, face puzzles, photo ratings and so on? Yet Social sites have all these.

I could go on and on and on, but I really would like all those out there in CS land to give me their view/opinion.

WHAT DO YOU THINK CS IS REALLY ALL ABOUT?
I may not be able to quickly respond to all comments, but i would really appreciate as much feedback as possible.
I will be back to add my thoughts a little later.
Thanking you all in advance.

doh cheers handshake

I Told You So

This is a phrase that I never use and when somebody else throws it at me, I get very annoyed.very mad

It is such a useless cliché. The damage is done; it only serves to claim superior wisdom and does nothing to undo or limit the damage. A reproach is not going to fix anything.frustrated

I recently did something against my own better judgment and several people warned me not to do it. For my very own reasons, I still went on to do it and it went all wrong as everybody predicted. Very soon everybody, even some who did not say so at the time, said to me: “I told you so.”tongue

It started when my sister’s son, one of the black sheep in the family, ask to borrow a sizable sum of money. He said it was to prevent the bank from repossessing his pick-up truck which is his livelihood. His father refused to help him. I called his father (long divorced from my sister, but still a good friend) to know why he would not help his son. He immediately advised me against helping and even phoned my sister and my father, asking them to ‘talk sense into my head’.blah

I knew that I would not see the money again, but as I’m very fond of my sister’s children, I reasoned that he had been out of trouble for several years now and deserved a chance. So I helped him. The little azzhole went off and bought an expensive golden necklace for his wife.shock

The fact is, had I not ‘helped’ him and he lost his transportation, I may for ever have wondered if I could have made a difference. So OK, I was wrong. The beneficiary of my favor was still the same irresponsible brat.doh

I have my own misgivings about helping somebody who apparently (now with hindsight) did not need or deserve help. But what is done is done. I know it was a mistake and don’t need to be reminded of it. If one cannot add something positive to a situation then he should shut up. After all, it was my loss, not theirs.snooty

It is easy to say I told you so.scold

How can you mend a broken heart

Good morning fellow bloggers, readers and anyone who wants to read this blog.

A good friend of mine suggested this topic as a follow up in the journey of breaking and mending and I thought maybe, some people will be able to relate and or share their experiences (if desired).
