Being in the first stages of winter, the spiders that decorated the granadilla plant outside my window are seeking shelter in my home again. As they eat flies, I did not mind too much.

Following closely on their heels, came the geckos. At first they were quite welcome as they kept the spider population in check. They multiplied in numbers so rapidly that it became a problem. I don’t like using poison so I’m thinking about introducing a few rats to curb their numbers.

But rats are prolific breeders and they are not likely to stick to a diet of geckos. To keep their numbers within acceptable levels, I will have to keep a few pythons. They love rats. Then I thought about getting a few iguanas. They eat snake eggs and that should prevent an explosion of the snake population. But what to do about the iguanas when they breed? I cannot expand the food chain indefinitely; my place is too small and I’m not likely to enjoy eating iguanas.

But it should be nice to have such a lot of exotic pets without having to feed them. Almost like having my own private zoo.

On second thoughts, a private zoo will be a bad idea. Going to the zoo will become an everyday event and I will be no longer be enjoying my visits to a certain on-line dating site.

One should be careful when visiting a zoo. They may not allow you to leave. But have a great day.

I had been busy recently, consequently I did not partake in too many blogs. However, I do enjoy peeking in once a while to see if my favourites are still here. I also enjoy reading some of the profiles.

Quite often I see comments, blog writings and even profiles flaunting how successful, beautiful and even intelligent some members claim to be. That could be true, however it is a real pity that all these wonderful people should be stuck somewhere in something, looking for affirmation on a free chat/dating site and that from people they most probably will never meet.

The challenge in life is to value our successes, intellect and beauty as blessings, without constantly creating a subjective base of what is good or not good enough. To all the people on this site who manage to remain humble, allowing space for different opinions from people with different backgrounds (as typical expected on this free site), a sincere thank you...

Good morning everyone.

I am not here to bring bad news but trust me on this one, it is for all of us to learn. Both as parents and the (In)Justice applied in the case.

The title of the news is: "Will the Affluenza Teen's Mom be charged Now That Her Son is Detained in Mexico"?

Anyone who has been following on the story would know that first of all, it was wrong to create a term like Affluenza just to make an excuse of the accountability of killing four people. Second, that being rich and think wealth can make you get away with all the wrong things done, don't always work.

I would love to hear everyone's opinion on this one.

Affluenza: "a psychological malaise supposedly affecting wealthy young people, symptoms of which include a lack of motivation, feelings of guilt, and a sense of isolation" from Dictionary.

Note: I absolutely believe that there was a great injustice done to humanity on this one.

I hope my fellow males will forgive me for asking such a vile question but I need to have some example. Of course, it is not true.

We see this type of question fairly often on the blogs. But why ask it like that? Why not ask the question straight up? Like: ‘Are all men promiscuous?’ It indicates that the questioner does not know and would like to learn the answer.

What we have here is a subtle piece of psychology. By adding the question (‘Is it true that’) in front of the statement (‘All men are promiscuous), we attempt to sway the opinion by suggesting that there is some degree of consensus about it and therefore it is likely to be true. The questioner does not want to learn the truth; he wants confirmation of what he already believes.

And we cannot generalize like that. The question indicates a serious ignorance about or hatred towards all males. We know that every man, like every woman, is unique. If they all appear the same to you, it is only because you were exposed to too small a sample. Hence the strangeness. It may interest you that some of us think the same about you.

Some people do seem not realize that the minute they include all members of a certain group, like all men, all women, all Americans, etc they display bias (a like or a dislike) towards that group. You cannot dislike all men or all Americans because you had a bad experience with one or more of that group. It is just another application of the non-existing law of averages to believe that the results of a small sample will always be reflected in the total population.

You have to treat each member of a group on merit. Treating all the same signifies an inability to deal with members of that group and is in all probability the reason for your poor success rate within that group.

May be he found solace in making this mortal life immortal by giving it an everlasting status in heaven.

May be his Ego felt better having connections to a supereme being.

May be it was easier to hold Eve accountable for man's downfall.

May be man was weak, so he wanted to rule over women by bringing God in to the equation to instill fear in them and control them.

But I believe in God ofcourse. In my own way.

I'm sorry to state this but these two high-profile murders of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO, and Eric Garner in New York City, NY, has transformed our country into a divided "racial combat zone";I hate to
see what lies in store for the spring/summer of 2015 if nothing is done at the state or federal level to put those two killer cops on the "hot seat"and pay for their misdeeds!

I like children but only if they have good manners. Last Sunday I put my foot into it again. I should rather have put it in my mouth.

My sister’s daughter and her husband relocated to Gauteng recently and, not to disrupt the children (aged nine and ten), they decided to leave them with their grandmother (my sister) until the end of the school year. For some reason my niece and her husband believe that good manners start and end with ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ while ignoring minor details like respect for adults and especially older people.

My father (88) asked the boy (9) to fetch a glass of water. He decided to ignore my father. When my father asked him a second time he laughed at my father, stuck his tongue out and walked out the house onto the veranda. That was when this Catfoot lost his cool and told him that I have peace about the way he talks to his own father but he is not going to treat my father, who is his great-grandfather, like that.

Of course, he complained about it to his father when he called later in the evening, and it turned into an unpleasant exchange of words with his father. I have never reacted well to threats and told him to take a few days off from work to download and install some good manners in his children. My father and my brother-in-law think I deserve a medal, but my sister is not too happy with me. As I said, I like children but only if they have good manners.

Does anybody know where I can get some Virtual Lollypops urgently? I have tried Google but I can’t find any. Hence my appeal to you.

My father has 9 great grand children and some of them are at the ‘difficult’ stage. On Sundays when the family gets together, they sometimes get very difficult when they get tired. My father always keeps a few lollipops in his pocket and when they get difficult, he simply hands each of them a lollypop. It’s amazing to see how well it works. Before you know, the whole lot are quiet and in front of the TV to fall asleep on the couch.

I need a few virtual lollypops. Please help if you can.

And maybe a few virtual pampers as well.
