"Love needs no reference – that's the beauty of love and the freedom of love. Hate is a bondage. Hate is imprisonment – imposed by you upon yourself. And hate creates hate, hate provokes hate. If you hate somebody you are creating hate in that person's heart for yourself. And the whole world exists in hate, in destructiveness, in violence, in jealousy, in competitiveness. People are at each other's throats either in reality, actuality, in action, or at least in their minds; in their thoughts, everybody is murdering, killing. That's why we have created a hell out of this beautiful earth – which could have become a paradise.

"Love, and the earth becomes a paradise again. And the immense beauty of love is that it has no reference. Love comes from you for no reason at all. It is your outpouring bliss, it is your sharing of your heart. It is the sharing of the song of your being. And sharing is so joyful – hence one shares. Sharing for sharing's sake, for no other motive.

"But the love you have known in the past is not the love Buddha is talking about or I am talking about. Your love is nothing but the other side of hate. Hence, your love has reference: somebody has been beautiful to you yesterday, he was so nice that you feel great love for him. This is not love; this is the other side of hate – the reference proves it. Or somebody is going to be nice to you tomorrow: the way he smiled at you, the way he talked to you, the way he invited you to his house tomorrow – he is going to be loving to you. And great love arises.

"This is not the love buddhas talk about. This is hate disguised as love – that's why your love can turn into hate any moment. Scratch a person just a little bit, and the love disappears and hate arises. It is not even skin-deep. Even so-called great lovers are continuously fighting, continuously at each other's throats – nagging, destructive. And people think this is love…

Some people know, some people think they know, some people have never heard of, and some people have no idea as to the purpose or meaning of the word PARABLE.

Therefore, let's start with the definition of the word, so there will be clear understanding of its meaning and approach as used by Jesus in His story telling lessons to convey spiritual truths of thought in His teachings during His earthly ministry when He walk among us.

The dictionary defines a Parable as being as follows...
Parable: a short story that teaches a moral or spiritual lesson; especially, one of the stories told by Jesus Christ and recorded in the Bible

In this particular parable Jesus uses an agricultural context to get His message across to the crowd of people who followed Him, and to us.

The Parable of the Sower
On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower (a person planting crops) went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. Some seed fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. And some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. The person who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

The Purpose of Parables
And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to the people it has not been given. For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to the people in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: ‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, And seeing you will see and not perceive; For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’

"But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it."

The Parable of the Sower Explained...
“Therefore hear the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one(the devil) comes and snatches away what was sown in the person's heart. This is the person who received seed (the Word of God) by the wayside (path). But the person who received the seed on stony places, this is the person who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet the person has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately the person stumbles. Now the person who received seed among the thorns is the person who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. But the person who received seed (the Word) on the good ground is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” Matthew Chapter 13

Those who have hears to hear, let them hear what the Spirit of the Lord speaks.

The holidays are one of the most important and meaningful times of the year for families. There are periods of celebration, fun, worship, and connection. In addition, there are wonderful teaching times of reflection and appreciation of who God is and all of the good things He does.

At the same time, the holiday season can be accompanied by sadness and hurt feelings. Sometimes people can become depressed, moody, withdrawn, and unable to enter into the spirit of the season the way they would like.


Holiday and the past


Why are people sad at this time of year? It has to do with the nature of your memory and your heart. Holidays are anniversaries which occur on a regular, yearly basis. And during holidays, it is natural to review, remember, and reflect on what has happened in the previous year. You not only remember the good but the negative and painful as well.

For example, you may have lost a loved one. During the holidays, it is natural to find yourself remembering that person and wishing they were there in the celebration and festivities as in years past. Or a difficult circumstance might come to mind, such as moving the family to a new place, a financial burden, or a marriage problem. You may remember how hard past months were or the hurt someone caused you.

Most people do not dredge these memories up on purpose. It is natural that you remember reality-good and painful- during the holidays.



Expecting the ideal


On top of these memories or challenging circumstances, you may expect yourself to be happy and joyful during the holidays, sometimes to a fault. You think, "What is wrong with me? Don't I appreciate all that God has done for me?" So you begin to compare your feelings and experiences with the ideal and standard of the holidays.

The gap you see between how you really feel and what you think you should feel can make things worse, rendering guilt for not being happy enough. Often, a downward spiral then begins.


Unfruitful attempts


It is common to deal with these hurt feelings and memories as best you can, because no one wants to be sad on a holiday. However, your attempts do not always bear good fruit. For example, sometimes you may try to ignore your heart and get busy with the season. You hope that if you do not think about what you are feeling, it might go away. Unfortunately, that is not the way life works. What is inside of you does not disappear if you look the other way. In fact, it often gets worse, just like an infection in the body continues growing if you do not get an antibiotic.

Another strategy is to compensate. That is, you may try to act the opposite of what you feel, hoping that will balance things inside. So if you are feeling really depressed, you may try to act just as cheerful as you are depressed. This actually can make things worse, by simply pretending and not being honest.



Becoming real and loved



The best solution is God's solution. He never says to ignore reality or to compensate for a real hurt. Rather, He validates that you have been hurt and have had difficult times, and He wants to help you.


During holidays, you need two things.


First, you need permission to be honest about what you are remembering and feeling. Sad things do happen to people, and God knows and cares. This process is called confession, and simply means to agree with the truth. Confess your mistakes, hurts, past, and sins in order to be healed (James 5:16).


Secondly, you need love and comfort. When you are real about a pain, God brings you His grace and comfort to console and heal you. He does this directly, and He does this through His people: "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in it's various forms (1 Pet. 4:10).

"...Sensing the questions forming in my mind, Maggi informed me that we would go where all the answers are. Quickly we approached a structure of supernatural beauty. It was vast, of the purest white, and somewhat Grecian in architecture. Paths led into the structure from all directions, and I observed many people coming and going. Over the archway through which we entered the structure, I saw the words TEMPLE OF KNOWLEDGE and felt a gentle power drawing me into itself.



There were pillars of varying heights, becoming higher and higher toward the center. Turning back to the interior of the temple, I saw that creative activities were taking place in different areas. There were a number of individuals sitting at easels painting, and I saw one man playing a flute-like instrument that emitted the sweetest of sounds. Farther on, dancers moved with ethereal grace, performing with a lightness impossible to the physical human form. As I watched in utter delight, I became aware that the musical background for this visual feast came from what I would call a celestial choir - an orchestra of voices creating "heavenly" music for the dance. This "music of the spheres" was indeed singing the praises of the Creator.

"...Within a second or two, I found myself standing in an absolutely beautiful green meadow. I knew then what was going on. I knew once again who I was, that I had died. My amnesia period was over with. I stood there in this gorgeous meadow and I remember that the light there was different from the light here on earth. Though it was not that brilliant white light in which I was involved, it was a more beautiful light.



There was a goldeness to this light. I remember the sky was very blue. I don't recall seeing the sun. The colors were extraordinary.

Few of us would want such a garden, but how many of us have allowed a root of bitterness to spring up within us? How many have a little toxic garden in our hearts?

If anyone had reason to remain bitter, it was Joseph in the book of Genesis. Yet he forgave his brothers, was reconciled to them, and provided for them. His forgiveness melted their hearts, and old wounds were somehow healed. Forgiveness isn't just a behavioral adjustment or psychological device. It is the sum and substance of every page and paragraph of the Bible. It's what the Bible is all about. It's the theme of the ages, the crux of the cross and gist of grace.

Beware lest any root of bitterness spring up within you.

John 12,1-11

Jesus Anointed at Bethany

12 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.

7 “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. 8 You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”

9 Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. 10 So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, 11 for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.
