Austria closes 7 mosques and expels 60 Imams

It seems like the rest of the European countries are feeling the burden of Islamization.

Blame it on Merkel, she was the one who invited them in the first place and now trying so hard to get rid of them.

First the burqa and now this. There are now 8 countries that completely ban the burqa.

I would say it is about time.

Anthropomorphism, Theism and Atheism

When the term “God” is mentioned, it seems it is generally assumed that everyone has a clear and common understanding of what it refers to.
But is this really so?

Could it be that there are significant differences in what different persons perceive as God?

I think that it is very important to closely examine the answer to this question in fairness to those who consider themselves to be atheists, and also theists, since these terms are both related to the notion of God.

We define ourselves as beings, that is, human beings. A being is a living entity, endowed with some type of life force which may be termed spirit. Each human being is said to have such a spirit (or soul). God is also normally perceived as a spirit.
A human is viewed as a being at the natural level whereas God is viewed as a being at a higher level, referred to as the Supernatural level.

I wonder if viewing a human being as an entity at the natural or human level and viewing God as an entity at a higher or supernatural level somehow seems to suggest that God may be viewed as a superhuman being. In other words, God is viewed as having human-like attributes, but at a higher or superhuman level. Essentially, this is an anthropomorphism.

Anthropomorphism (Merriam Webster Dictionary):
an interpretation of what is not human or personal in terms of human or personal characteristics.

In the Bible, the book of Genesis states that God created man in his own image. George Bernard Shaw said: “God created man in his own image and man has returned the compliment”. That is, man has created God in his own image, with human-like attributes.

Is it possible that one can have a direct apprehension of that spirit (or force) which religion (theology) refers to as God, without viewing it in terms of human or superhuman attributes, that is, natural or supernatural? One simply views it directly as some phenomenon and is contented to apprehend it at that level.

I think most persons would agree that there is some sort of order or principle in the working of the cosmos. Perhaps having a direct awareness of this principle in action is having a realization of the very “essence” of what is commonly termed God. Scriptures or religious teachings attempt to put a “form” to this "essence" and view the essence and form as being synonymous and co-existing with each other. Both are essential from the religious perspective.

If a person has such a direct awareness, that is, of the “essence” without having an interest in the teachings or dogma of any religion, is such a person an atheist or “godless” - a term which, to many, has negative connotations such as evil-mindedness and an uncaring attitude towards others, etc.?

Does one need to believe in God as defined in the dogma of religion in order to love others and to have a caring attitude toward them and, more importantly, to express this attitude in action?

Some of the world's notable philanthropists are atheists. These include Bill Gates and Warren Buffet.
There are several well-to-do theists who profess a caring attitude toward others but do little or nothing to express it in action.

Do you view the term “God” as an anthropomorphism?

I have seen comments by some individuals mentioning the term “higher power” in this regard.

What is your personal understanding, if any, of the term “God”?

Muslims in America

What have Muslims ever done for America? If your sole source of information were Donald Trump, you’d think that the answer was not much – apart from murdering its citizens and trying to destroy its values.

Muslims were part of the US from its very beginnings. Among those who served under the command of chief of the continental army, General George Washington, in the war against British colonialism were Bampett Muhammad, who fought for the Virginia Line between the years 1775 and 1783, and Yusuf Ben Ali, who was a North African Arab. Washington, later America’s first president, didn’t have a problem with Muslims serving in his army. By giving these Muslims the honour of serving America, Washington made it clear that a person did not have to be of a certain religion or have a particular ethnic background to be an American patriot.

Trump tower, wouldn’t have happened without Fazlur Rahman Khan.
The US wouldn’t look the way it does if it weren’t for a Muslim, Fazlur Rahman Khan. The Dhaka-born Bangladeshi-American was known as the “Einstein of structural engineering”. He pioneered a new structural system of frame tubes that revolutionised the building of skyscrapers. The result was a new generation of skyscrapers that reduced the amount of steel necessary in construction and changed the look of American cityscapes.

Treating the sick
Without Ayub Ommaya lots of people, some of them American, would be dead or suffering appalling pain. In 1963, the Pakistani-born Muslim neurosurgeon invented an intraventricular catheter system that can be used for the aspiration of cerebrospinal fluid or the delivery of drugs. What that means is that a soft, plastic, dome-shaped device is placed under the scalp. This so-called Ommaya Reservoir is then connected to a catheter that is placed into your brain. The reservoir is used to provide chemotherapy directly to the site for brain tumours.

Advancing science
Ahmed Zewail won the Nobel prize for Chemistry in 1999, becoming thereby the first Egyptian-born scientist to do so. He is known as the “father of femtochemistry” and for doing pioneering work in the observation of rapid molecular transformations. Zewail, now 69, has spent most of his life in the US where he is now professor of chemistry and physics at Caltech and director of the physical biology center. Postage stamps have been issued to honour his contributions to science and humanity.

Trump tweeted the following earlier this week: “Obama said in his speech that Muslims are our sports heroes. What sport is he talking about, and who?” One of those sports heroes is, Mr Trump, someone you’ve met before. Here are some clues. He was known as the Louisville Lip. He was three times World Heavyweight Boxing Champion. Oh yes, and in 1965 he changed his name from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali and later gave interviews explaining his perspective on his new faith. Now you remember. He’s the same guy you met in 2007 when he presented you with a Muhammad Ali award. In May, you posted a photo on Facebook posing with the great Muslim sporting hero and claimed then that he was your friend.
Ali, one of the most famous Muslims in the world, issued a statement saying, "True Muslims know that the ruthless violence of so called Islamic Jihadists goes against the very tenets of our religion."
He added, "I believe that our political leaders should use their position to bring understanding about the religion of Islam and clarify that these misguided murderers have perverted people's views on what Islam really is."

Here are some more sports heroes. Basketball icons Shaquille O’Neal and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the latter perhaps the greatest NBA star after Michael Jordan. Hakeem Olajuwon, 52, Hall of Fame NBA centre. Oh yes, and Mike Tyson, who set the record as the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight titles aged 20.

MERRY CHRISTMAS i.e. XMAS!!

Yes, Yes, we all know Christmas is soon upon us, and many will be celebrating with family and friends, enjoying much laughter,food-food and more food... while many will be alone but still enjoying much laughter, food food, and keeping warm by the fire place, or heater, etc.

There are many Christians who are annoyed and get very upset when some in the secular world, or those who don't believe in Christ and reject Him as the Savior who died on the cross for our sins, and those refuse to believe or have anything to do with Christianity, who use Xmas instead of Christmas as to eliminate the use of Christ in Christmas... and that's okay with me as a Christian, because God gave everyone he created a free will choice to choose whom they will serve.

Well, I must not allow any of you to live in ignorance any longer therefore, I thought it would be wise of me to enlighten everyone, the saved, unsaved, saints and sinners bringing all of you out of darkness into the marvelous light. This is for the saved, saints (who believe in Christ) and unsaved (sinners/unbelievers who do not believe in Christ) who think Xmas deletes the name of Christ from the word CHRISTMAS.

So what shall we say to these things? Shall it be Christmas or Xmas? You judge for yourselves...

Xmas is a common abbreviation of the word Christmas . It is sometimes pronounced /'?ksm?s/, but it, and variants such as Xtemass, originated as handwriting abbreviations for the typical pronunciation /'kr?sm?s/. The "-mas" part is from the Latin-derived Old English word for Mass, while the "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word ???st?? which comes into English as "Christ".

There is a common misconception that the word Xmas stems from a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas by taking the "Christ" out of "Christmas", but its use dates back to the 16th century.

The word "Christ" and its compounds, including "Christmas", have been abbreviated in English for at least the past 1,000 years, long before the modern "Xmas" was commonly used. "Christ" was often written as "X?" or "Xt"; there are references in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle as far back as 1021. This X and P arose as the uppercase forms of the Greek letters ? (Ch) and ? (R) used in ancient abbreviations for ???st?? (Greek for "Christ"), and are still widely seen in many Eastern Orthodox icons depicting Jesus Christ. The labarum, an amalgamation of the two Greek letters rendered as ?, is a symbol often used to represent Christ in Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox Christian Churches.

The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) and the OED Supplement have cited usages of "X-" or "Xp-" for "Christ-" as early as 1485. The terms "Xtian" and less commonly "Xpian" have also been used for "Christian". The OED further cites usage of "Xtianity" for "Christianity" from 1634. According to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of English Usage, most of the evidence for these words comes from "educated Englishmen who knew their Greek".

In ancient Christian art, ? and ?? are abbreviations for Christ's name. In many manuscripts of the New Testament and icons, ? is an abbreviation for ???st??, as is XC (the first and last letters in Greek, using the lunate sigma); compare IC for Jesus in Greek.

Spiritual but not Religious, and Atheist

What does it mean to be Spiritual but not Religious,
as several persons here on CS claim they are?

What is an Atheist?

What does the term “God” signify to you?
Is it an anthropomorphism as taught by religion?

anthropomorphism
- “the attribution of human characteristics or behaviour to a god, animal, or object”.

George Bernard Shaw said:

“The Bible says that God created man in his own image,
and man has been returning the favour ever since.”

Without resorting to anthropomorphism, do you think that there is some overriding principle, order or phenomenon that governs everything in the cosmos, and that one can have a personal direct awareness of this phenomenon, independent of the teachings of any religion?
Some may refer to it as a divine or supreme power, force, or even spirit.
This awareness can be experienced through a closeness to Nature, or through meditation.

Is it possible that such persons can be categorised as “spiritual but not religious”?

In addition, is it possible that an atheist who has abandoned the concept of God as an anthropomorphism, can also have a direct awareness of this phenomenon?

I know that several persons on CS claim to be atheists.
If you are such a person, in view of the points mentioned above, could you please share with us, the basis of your claim of being an atheist?

Also, if you claim to be “spiritual but not religious”, could you please share with us the basis of your claim?

Thanks for your input!

Believers and unbelievers

Why there are two groups or two kind of people, believers and unbelievers ?
People who understood the Truth and so became believers.
People who understood not the truth, but live under sin ,and so they are still unbelievers.
What cause to be unbeliever?it is so that they don,t have love for the truth and they like sin and live
in darking way. Also There are many christians who seem to believe truth but do not obey it, and so they pretend to live as christians! who ever want to love the truth, are those who will believe and obey the truth.
Those who believe and obey the truth will be saved from sin and from evil.
So let people think carefully what they want: believe or not believe truth.
Heaven is place for those who believe and obey truth.Hell is for those who do wicked and evil and don,t believe truth.
Hell is with all suffers and terrible fire, and have no rest and no peace, therefore let people think carefully
what they want, Heaven or Hell? When people lose peace and resting is in agony and terrible suffer, they want at least drop of water ,but can,t have.having no rest and no peace is terrible suffer, they can,t live
one minute without peace and rest,so they suffer with so long many years there in agony and terrible
situation!
So then they will be sorry for not believing truth, but then is too late to believe, they have to suffer.
So let people think carefully what they want, i wish they choose Heaven and not Hell, and to believe truth
and so to go in heaven one day.
Those that want to believe and obey truth: let them start obeying commandments of God: two greatest
commandments :Love God with all heart.., and love your neighbours as yourself.then is ten commandments in exodus 20:2-17 in bible.
And so they will be leaded to salvation, to be saved and one day will come when they will go also in heaven.
May God bless and help you.Jesus said: those who obey my commandments:is those that love Me.

the power of God

Who is Jesus?

In chemistry,
He turned water to wine.

In biology,
He was born without the normal conception;

In physics,
He disapproved the law of gravity when He ascended into heaven;

In economics,
He disapproved the law of
diminishing return by feeding 5000 men with
two fishes & 5 loaves of bread;

In medicine,
He cured the sick and the blind without administering a single dose of drugs;

In history,
He is the beginning and the end;

In government,
He said that He shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace;

In religion,
He said no one comes to the Father except through Him;

So, Who is He? He is Jesus!

The Greatest Man in History

Jesus had no servants,
yet they called Him Master.

Had no degree,
yet they called Him Teacher.

Had no medicines,
yet they called Him Healer.

He had no army,
yet kings feared Him.

He won no military battles,
yet He conquered the world.

He committed no crime,
yet they crucified Him.

He was buried in a tomb,
yet He lives today.

I feel honoured to serve such a Leader who loves us.

Join me and let's celebrate Him; He is worthy.

The eyes beholding this message shall not behold evil,

The hand that will send this message to everybody shall not labor in vain,

and The mouth saying Amen to this prayer shall smile forever.

Remain in God and seek his face always.

Amen!

In God I've found everything!

Send this to all whom you care for.

Let someone know of the works of Our Lord JESUS.

Let the whole world appreciate the Lord of Lords.

Do not hesitate to spread the gospel..??

Dont be tired of spreading it forth.

Christmas and what it means to the Christian world

As of 2010, there is about 2.5 billion Christians and by far the world's largest religion, according to Wiki. So for those who are celebrating this season of the Lord's birth, may we all have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I hope that with this site being international and shared by all kinds of people with all kinds of religion, this post is not offensive to anyone.

Being Christian myself and having been taught with all the good and positive teachings of life, it is very good to know that our world truly needs all of us to be embracing peace and tolerance to one another.

Regardless of religion, we must be kind, generous and just to one another.

Christmas is a season of giving, family celebrations and most of all season to be happy and be loving to one another.

Thank you all.teddybear bouquet gift

I have just finished my shopping yesterday and what a world of commercialism we have made this world with this occasion. But it is good for business and it sure make a lot of people to be happy. I am not saying that you have to have a gift to celebrate this season, but if we do it on birthdays and wedding, and or without any special occasion give gifts, why not this season.

Thank you everyone.

NOTE: I was taught many a times, that forgiving is a very good positive attribute this season affords us. And I do seek forgiveness for anyone whom I have offended in my whole life. Thank you.

Pay a visit to the needy (I volunteered for the St. Vincent De Paul) and very touching to be around people who are truly in need of help.wave bouquet gift
