Second to last day before my big exam!

My exam on Wednesday can be one of the following: Rigging, stowing, load securing or forklift. I am pretty confident in three of them. One of them is still annoyingly tricky to nail. That is the rigging.

Therefore, today, I told myself that I would train my rigging methods. I trained rigging a gate, a barrel, a pole and a block of concrete. The external examiner is going to look after a few things: Is the item straight in the air, are the straps twisted and do I know what I am doing? Can I perform a lift safely?

The barrel first, since that is the most annoying one to rig. I nailed that in 5 minutes. Next was the gate. That was an even bigger pain in the rear, so it took about 15 minutes. Next up, the pole. Not the most tricky thing to rig, so that took just 5 minutes. Then, it was the concrete block. 5 minutes to rig that one. That meant, all four elements took me 30 minutes to rig, and I have 30 minutes to perform all 4 lifts. That means I will be able to make all 4 lifts, just in time. I need to shave off some time with the gate, which can be done.

If I don't rig all the elements, it's okay. As long as the external examiner can see that I know how to lift something safely, I should be okay.

I am pretty good on the stowing side of the exam. Load securing is also something I have nailed down. I am also pretty confident in the forklift, so all I really need to do is to train the rigging more.

If I had to pick one of the tasks to perform on Wednesday, it's stowing. I have 30 minutes to stow some cargo into a truck, and the last time I did it, it took me 16 minutes. It is the one thing I know I can do with my eyes closed.

We'll see how it goes on Wednesday.

I also have a possible apprenticeship lined up. I will know more about that tomorrow!

These past 20 weeks has led to this!

Back on August 16 2021, I had my first day at school. My first day learning about a new field. Since then, I have made good friends, had some fun times and made some even better memories. I have been doing two different types of work experience, which I have both learned so much during. I have learned rules about safety, techniques surrounding securing loads to trailers, how to rig stuff properly and how to stow things inside a truck.

I have earned four certificates: First aid, forklift, ADR and van. I have won competitions, passed exams and made some pretty good assignments. I have endured good and bad times.

I have just been super happy about what I chose to do, and it has shown me, what I want to do for the rest of my working life.

Why am I summarizing it like this? Because tomorrow, at 8 am, I will have my final test, to see if I have learned anything. If I can continue with the education.

Tomorrow is my basic course exam. Am I nervous? A bit. Am I excited? Absolutely! I have my preferred thing to be examined in: Stowing. Mainly because it's the easiest one, but also because it directly corresponds to the area I am going to be educated in: The moving business.

You see, earlier today, I secured not one, but TWO possible apprenticeships, both at international movers. IF I pick stowing tomorrow, and IF I get an apprenticeship as a mover, I will be in a VERY good position! But that is all for tomorrow.

Right now, I need to brush up on certain things. I need to look a bit on route planning, but that's not going to be too hard.

Tomorrow, I will update you on how things went. If I passed or failed, and what I picked.

Blessing In Disguise.

Thursday is usually a jolly day for me but it did not start good today. It's cold and rainy here since yesterday. My son came home disheartened, he did not pass his practical driving test. I had a nice talk to him about how to handle failures and frustrations in life and gave him a big hug. He was looking forward to getting his license. He turned 18 last month, the age allowed to apply for a license here. I knew he and his friends were planning to have a good time tonight. It's a cold rainy night, not a good idea to be out there. I was kinda relieved that he did not come home with a driving license. He's going back in two weeks to try again.laugh

I had to go somewhere and running late, the car did not start. Radio and lights were working, I didn't think it's the battery. I had no time to figure out what was wrong, I don't know much about cars. After numerous attempts, I decided to take an uber. About 200 meters away from my place, there was an accident and luckily, the Uber driver was able to avoid ramming into a delivery truck, just some scratches on the side of his car. The rain was pouring, not a good day for driving. I knew then that the car did not start for a very good reason, I'm so thankful. I came home after few hours and went to the car, it started it right away, there seems to be no issues. I felt blessed today. I think someone is looking after me.angel

My son and his four best friends are having iftar right now, loud and crazy but nice to see them having fun. I cooked brisket, mashed potatoes, fajitas and ordered wings from Buffalo to make it more fun.
I made chocolate mousse cake last night and picked up some strawberry ice cream to pair with. I'll give it to them in a bit, after I posted this blog laugh

It's warm and fun with them here and thank God tomorrow is Friday!yay

How do you know if someone is worth waiting for?

Someone is worth waiting for if you both share a healthy relationship with one another, and put actions in place to talk as often as possible and make visits when you can.

Someone is worth the wait when they feel the pain of missing you as much as you miss them, and they just love every moment they get to talk to you while they are away.

Someone is worth waiting for when you are not only sure of what they mean to you, but also who they are; we don’t want to wait for someone we don’t think can take care of us emotionally and physically when the wait is over, so be sure of the person before anything else.conversing dunno confused

Looks Like Romance Is Dead in Blogland

Even those who used to post romantic and erotic blogs have turned to politics and religion! I do take a sneak peak from time to time, just too busy to join.

Life has been good and busy. I lost interest in dating and online stuffs. All he talk about is his dog and hunting expedition, gone were the days of sexting and online flirting, I guess I'm getting older and wiser too.

Had a surgery few months ago, back to my old self now and glad to say everything still works!yay

Nice to see some here keep the blogs going, would be nice to see those old fun blogs back again. I was thinking of putting up an auction blog but looks like we don't have many left to auction here.laugh

Happy Tuesday all!

Solving a dispute like adults.

With me living with 8 other people, each living their own lives with vastly different ways of doing things or different traits, eventually there'll be some form of disagreement or something will annoy someone else. I have lived here for about 3 years, and usually it's been on the small side of things. Not turning off the light in the kitchen when people are done, over-using the washing machine, having small shindigs at 3 am on a weekday and not cleaning up after themselves in the kitchen.

Then there's more.. Severe.. Things that people can do, that impacts the other persons life and body. I have been guilty of two of those things. 1: Being loud with my singing, and 2: my snoring. The person in the room next to mine is someone who is suffering from Hyperacusis. That type of condition is a type of reduced tolerance to sound, making it extremely uncomfortable when someone is singing too loud or snoring too loud.

I didn't think my snoring was an issue until last Saturday morning at about 5:50 am. I woke up to a sound that can only be described as someone using a hammer on the wall at full speed. It continued for about 10 minutes or so, and then it died down. I thought it was me dreaming something, or imagining things, so I asked one of my other housemates if he had heard anything. He heard it as well, so it wasn't my imagination. It was only when I met the guy in the room next to me, that I got an explanation for it.

Apparently, my snoring has kept him awake. To the point where he had to be put on sick-leave from his studies, and has decided to move out when he can. Now, me being someone who cares about others, apologized to him and told him, that it wasn't my intention to cause any inconvenience. When we started the conversation, he was pretty aggressive towards me, almost raging at me for keeping him awake at night. I guess my tone of voice calmed him down, because ten minutes later, we were talking like adults, and not hurling abuse at each other. It was quite nice, because it gave me an opportunity to diffuse what could easily have ended with throwing hands.

I am happy it didn't get to that. I am not a violent person, and I am very afraid of any sort of conflict. We both apologized to each other. Me, for keeping him awake at night, and him for the knocking on the wall at 5:50 am on a Saturday morning.

I have decided to look for somewhere else to live, though. I found a place in Copenhagen with people who are between the ages of 39 and 55. They look like a bunch of nice people, so if I am getting that available room, I am sure that I will be happy there.

As for my snoring - well, I am looking into that. I have found a few products I would like to try out. so hopefully they will help me with my snoring. I ordered them today, and they will arrive in a few days. I will test them out and see if they help my snoring, and my general sleep pattern, which is not good. I might order some more products, so my snoring can be eliminated, or reduced by 95%.

So yes - solving a dispute like adults CAN be achieved, if you just remain calm, keep a calm tone of voice and admit your mistakes, if you have made any. That's also how you can achieve a happy personal life. Remain calm, don't raise your voice and acknowledge any mistakes you might have made. Pro tip!
